I changed out my Sennheiser AVX to Hollyland M2/ M2s. I had previous experience of 2.5 GHz mic failing on me so I am kind of worried. But the AVX is getting obsolete and complicated that I want to sell them away. haha.

yes there is but it legit depends on the focus breathing and or mattebox
Hi thx for the reply. I use a manual cine full 24mm (on a crop sensor), and my matte box is fully adjustable. So neither of those are issues. Im just trying to find out the vignette situation of the adapter itself. How much and how dark it is etc. P.s. i run wide open aperture most of the time.
i mean it very much depends on the lens itself but you can always crop in just a bit to avoid it if needed
Thx again. I kept researching, and i think my lens (samyang) will have no or just a slight bit of fuzzy corner darkening, with the adapter on aps-c. If i have to crop slightly in post, it should still do what im after.
P.s. vid footage looks great!
We love the Dragon, and have two! Will be selling one of the Dragon kits soon, but we’ll hold on to the other for some time.

Image on the RedDragon is beautiful but BlackMagics workflow is seamless compared to a lot of what’s on the market and what’s been on the market.
i use BMD a lot and there’s def no arguing it’s an easy workflow! R3D RAW is better for coloring since it’s not debayered in camera… but BRAW is dummy easy to process for sure! just depends what’s more important to you!!

Funny how you talk about two cameras (fx3, a7sIII) having different dynamic range while in reality the both use the same sensor and processing and score identically to each other along with the smaller ZV-E1. Also RED dynamic range is somewhat inflated by the built in trickery of highlight recovery. It’s good to have but honestly not being able to turn it off is a bit shit.
yes they both have the same processor however they do score differently in DR tests 🤷♂️. sony claimed the FX3 has better DR anyways so it makes sense. also REDs extended HL recovery (HDRX) is able to be toggled on or off and adjustable from 2-6 values. when off the DR is about 16 stops.
Bro your argument for frame rates with the Blackmagic as you said you don’t use 120 and only need 92fps…
not really what i said. i just don’t use 120 that often… i like 82 fps without cropping tho. if i need to crop the red absolutely dominates tho

I agree with you, but with the Sony Monitor and Control app the FX3/FX30 are much more like cinema cameras. I'm very unhappy with the framerate options on Sony. I think that is the biggest problem. Also the overheating with the ZV-E1 when used with external monitor and internal recording sucks bad, but the Tilta Cooling System is okay, you can just stick it on without the fan to stop it from overheating and turn the fan on between takes.
the app is okay at best tbh. on any set wireless sdi is a must have anyways. overheating do be an issue
@@WhiteJadeProductions To prevent overheating with ZV-E1 you must turn off internal recording in clean HDMI mode. The problem is the monitor runs at 60hz and is not a variable refresh rate monitor and it runs at 60hz, which overheats the camera .With the fan off, that Tilta cooling system dissipates enough heat to not overheat the camera. The cooling system isn't too bad if you use the touchscreen. I'll take the manual fan control to get a baby FX3 with 10-bit raw external recording the internal LUTs.

Great video, I loved your advice regarding rental house purchasing. This camera has such an epic look that still hits hard to this day! What follow focus is in that kit it looks awesome!

yeah depending on the media module you will likely be using the mini mags. they’re highly reliable tho so i think it’s worth it if you buy a kit with a couple of em

I switched my Dragon 6K X to a Komodo 6K after six years of it being my workhorse, and I don’t regret it. The main reason for the switch was the weight and size, but I definitely miss my Dragon sensor image and unique look. I was just starting to travel and it did more sense to me to a more friendly travel size
for travel that totally makes sense! the dragon do be special tho!

it’s a great camera but it’s known for being super sharp and veryyy digital. overall great camera tho
@@WhiteJadeProductionsabsolute garbage. It’s know for being the exact opposite of sharp or digital looking. It has a purpose built 4K 17:9 sensor and zero sharpening when shooting RAW.

@ once again, with respect, check your facts. C70 it’s known for being very soft. Some people even say it’s too soft for corporate work because of lack of critical focus on the eye typical of mirrorless cameras. Let me reiterate. It’s has a low resolution sensor with a low pass filter and no in body sharpening while shooting RAW whatsoever. The image is very soft and film like. I’ve shot a lot of different cinema cameras and C70 has one of the mist organic looking images you can get within a budget similar to yours.
@LiveMyJourneyTom i totally agree when shooting RAW. in any other format it’s technically soft yup absolutely but digitally sharpened and that’s my complaint about it. for RAW tho you’re 100% right tho!
the lens is shimmed out of the box but if you are using an adapter you have to Re-shim it according to them. lot of amazing footage are out there... of course it was soft but not as you said. t2.8 is mostly the sweet spot for 45 and 65.

I am currently shooting my second feature "As Night Falls" on this camera, and I have to say it absolutely stunning. If you make sure you do your black shading and expose the sensor right, you can produce some beautiful images in low light. The granular feel coupled with how this sensor renders colours is simply stunning. Yes its an old camera but that image.... OHHHHH THAT SWEET IMAGE :). Great video mate

By the way, can you tell me Dragon X Scarlet 5k, Dragon X Scarlet 6k - are these all the same cameras as Epic Dragon X 6k?
mmmm not quite. the name scarlet, or dragon refers to the sensor itself however some cameras have had their original sensor replaced. So you might see a scarlet camera with a dragon sensor. There are some other differences, but you can research each individual camera and figure out which one is best for you!
Thanks for the review. Tell me, have you looked at the ARRI CLASSIC camera with a resolution of 2k prores? The price of both cameras is approximately the same.
i def looked at getting one but they’re a bit bulky for me and in working condition with a kit they run from 4-5k from what i’ve seen. i personally needed 4k minimum for a lot of my commercial jobs however it’s still a great camera!
I bought a DMC2 Dragon 6K as well and wow!!! I got the whole kit as well and you aren’t going to beat this image with any super 35 sensor. Great video!!!

Hell yeah! Got myself a dsmc2 dragon X for 4500 last march and could not be more happy! There is some quality life improvement over epic like ipp2 monitoring, prores recording ( good if you have to deliver that) and some noise improvement. Have worked with both fx6 fx3 and Black Magic Pocket before and mine gets even close to the quality and look of dragon.

Ebay has a few up right now, there is a dragon x scarlet 6k up there for 1700$ right now. That is the same sensor, it was a paid upgrade.

The gear should be invisible to whatever you are trying to accomplish. Technically gear won't matter so long as it's not detracting from the vision often gear can actively get in the way.

Arri classic is great if 1080p is fine with you. Ironically it’s only going to get better with time, imagine when upscaling technology gets to sub 1 hour turn around speeds 😅
arri is great but unfortunately a classic is gonna set ya back 4k minimum and you may have to buy the high speed or pro res license

I share your passion for the dragon sensor. Fx3 / Sony system can yield great image and have a lot of function (for events I wouldn’t trust another) but for actual cinematography work/ narrative, I’ll pick the dragon sensor. I’d go dsmc2 if the cash is there but couldn’t agree more about how special this camera is

You are very young and obviously sentimental but the reason you are getting so much pushback is your thought process. 1) You keep pushing the idea of a "true" cinema camera which is at least controversial at this point. You could at least take the time to provide a definition of the term. Also this kind of thinking is inherently incorrect since many of the cameras you mention do in fact get used for cinema applications repeatedly the last years. Studying the lists of cameras used in the most prestigious festivals you will see that the top spots are always Arri, Venice, film and then everything else. Red doesn't have any larger percentage over Blackmagic or Sony or even Canon. In certain instances Red is behind all these brands. 2) Your logic is inconsistent regarding how you evaluate brands. Most manufacturers exaggerate dynamic range including Red by your own admission. The only manufacturer who is always consistent is Arri. 3) You do not provide the whole picture regarding such a purchase. Red has stopped producing but most importantly servicing these older cameras. That means that should the camera have any problem you are on your own. And Red caneras do exhibit problems. Especially if we are talking about a heavily used rental item. * I could go into buying used rental gear but it is not the main point of the video. 4) If you take the time to observe the industry sphere you will realise that most (not all) prestigious cinematographers -and even content creators - tend to be agnostic regarding cameras. They are just tools and each brand has advantages and disadvantages. Presenting one brand as the ultimate solution is again a problematic view. Red does produce great cameras but they are far from the only option regarding good image quality. If Greg Frasier is not above using a Sony then maybe we shouldnt be either. If Deakins wasn't above using a baked in codec when he shot In time then maybe a raw codec isnt the end be all we make it out to be. In any case the omission of any possible drawbacks in your presentation doesn't inspire confidence in your thinking process. 5) If you want to be taken seriously when presenting a strong opinion on such a matter then your footage should be at the very least above criticism. I know what Red can produce in the right hands but using sub par footage doesn't help your credibility at all and that should be obvious. When you have a public platform you should give some thought before making a claim or presenting an opinion so that you make sure your conclusions do make sense and that you provide value to others. This will only help you both on a personal level since you will be forced to obtain some objective criteria in your thought process as well as on a business level since people will appreciate such efforts and respond accordingly. I myself like the image coming from Red which is why i searched for it and how i found your video. And yet i was taken aback by how biased and incoherent your deductions were. In any case i think that in time you might reconsider what is actually going on. But then again you can keep believing in imaginary antagonists for a long time, who knows.
