Historic English county tops...No17...Norfolk...Beacon hill.
Time for another old county top...This time we have chosen Norfolk's, Beacon hill also known as Roman camp. Standing at 344ft above sea level.
Beacon Hill is a part of the Cromer Ridge which is a ridge of old glacial moraines (terminal moraine) that stands next to the coast above Cromer. The Cromer Ridge seems to have been the front line of the ice sheet for some time at the last glaciations, which is shown by the large size of the feature. All the material that was dredged up from the North Sea was deposited by the glaciers to form Beacon Hill and the rest of the ridge. The Ridge is the highest land of Norfolk and stretches for 9 miles along the North Norfolk coast. It is characterized by...

    Great video. I understand the pain though doing some of the county tops, when you get there and you're just standing at the side of a road or in a farmers field! 😅 It's good you're making walks out of them though

    Love this series Steven, well done on ticking them off! Norfolk county top, get those crampons out. Nice weather you had on this one. Wow the Victory V changes with the seasons! Lovely looking Church, that round tower is really cool. Yikes, overgrowth! 🥵 watch your footing, dont get snake bit! 😂 where is that highest point, who moved it? Yes you found it!       Thanks folks...i had hoped on doing all the county tops this year, but as time flies by i realise that's not going to happen..oh well, lets see if we can do them in 2 years, no real rush...really enjoyed this walk although the top was a bit of a let down..i suppose they can't all be fantastic..we have another holiday in October...should be going down south where there will be a few more county tops up for grabs...thanks folks.

    What a beautiful walk done in a direction I've never thought of doing! I remember climbing up through Roman Camp Woods (think it's now a camping site am I right?) to the beacon as a kid, moaning like crazy because they were big hills back then 😂

      Thanks Jenny...it seems a great place to walk there from ...Felbrigg hall is a great day out itself..lots of campsites around that area..i remember staying at one near Weybourne a few years ago...yeah i can imagine these little hills seemed huge when you were a kid.

    Blimey, I forgot about the County Top Series...Is that Hall your second home😂...Got me thinking, do they still make Victory V lozenges cos I loved them like I do all the Historical facts about the places you and Karen visit...Masters of disguise those Black Head Gulls🤣...it is called Roman Camp because they were Roman around like you trying to find the highest point in North Norfolk...Oh dear...good stuff this Aldi Lager...Hill or not it still another one ticked off...Loved it...Cheers Les.🙂👍

    Good evening whilst this may not be high the area here is fabulous. The victory v is beautiful would definitely look great in Autumn.     I was born in Scunthorpe in the late 1940's and left the town when I was 18 . I started computer programming on the steel works and live all over England working in IT departments. I only go back home occasionally. I never go at Christmas time due to being the eldest of 7 and most of my sisters are grandmothes with 5 or 6 Childeren and multiple grandchildrenand a few great grandchildren I enjoyed growing up in Scunthorpe and going to one of the grammar schools. Looking back the 1950/60's were exciting times for us "Baby Boomer" born after world war II. We had the best of it.

    Beautiful paft of Norfolk! Those stretches of beach are a sod to wslk on though with all those stones 😅 That was a very overgrown path, we've encountered lots of pathways like that this year - another result from all the rain maybe?! Great video! Jenny 😊
