Garden City Municipal Band Selections From The Lion King
I know we don't sound that great all the time, but you have to realize the 2nd time we read though most of this stuff is at the concert.

Scherzo Fantastique For Eb Contra Alto (Eb Contrabass Clarinet) by Alfred Reed

At class 6a State Solos at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. The keyboard provided by the university was not great, so this was as quick as we could take it. This was my junior year in high school and ended up graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Ed with an emphasis on bassoon.

Garden City Municipal Band - Selections From Fiddler On The Roof
The harmony from 0:46 to 1:08 ❤
I played this in 8th grade and I love it so much, it's so beautiful and tells such a story
So we all here remembering our glory days?
We’re playing this for my May concert, I’m playing the second Bb clarinet part at 12 on the marimba. I’m also playing marimba for the song. I like practicing the snare part at 39 a lot tho. We’re playing this for a student who died in our band class last year.
I am playing this with my middle school band right now and we love it!
I met this man who made this and played in a honor band best song ever we could’ve done.
I played the flute solos back in 2017, it was the most terrifying yet amazing thing I ever got to do. Today it still gives me goosebumps. It was the first time I ever used a b joint flute and on a brand new flute at the time ❤
In band we played this in middle school. For the helicopter sounds and guns we set up 6 bass drums on their sides in the audience. We flew the helicopter from back to front side to side and had a battle. That night we also played Pirates of the Caribbean. Both were college level. That was the last time those pieces were played. The next year they combined the middle schools and the band teacher retired. The only time the school had a standing ovation.
This is the newer, easier arrangement. I prefer the original arrangement.
Could I have the score...?
I played this in all district band prior to 2003. Loudoun County, VA.
Playing this at a Music in May, with Smith as our conductor is something I hope I don't forget.
I actually got to play this piece under the conduction of Robert W. Smith at a music festival. One of the most amazing experiences of my life.
I was there at mim as well. Coming back to listen to this, something I've been thinking about a lot lately for some reason.
@@umm_mimi7412 Oh cool! I can’t wait for the CD to come out so I can listen to our concert.
I was supposed to do this too for all district band but he sadly passed away before he could conduct us
At a memorial service this year I got to year this played live. Those drums as helicopters are so much more effective live, a recording doesn't do it justice. The drums actually shook the area I was sitting in
Got to do this for Music in May, with other 150 other band members, and Robert W. Smith himself was invited to conduct us. When we went over this piece, he mentioned that he had some Morse code hidden in it. Of course, I can’t figure it out, but if anyone else knows, please tell me. Couldn’t get any sleep trying to figure it out.
My brother’s high school band just played this and had the drums all around the auditorium. It was so immersive and the dynamics were some of the best I’ve ever experienced. Totally transported me. So cinematic. The flute and wave machine intro/outro was so beautiful and serene as well
This was also the first mass use if jets
Vietnam sounding ah piece
I somewhat dont understand the helicopter effect
i'm playing this song in band and i can not tell you how good the part at 4:09 sounds irl
I play this piece at QHS boys home basketball games at Blue Devil Gymnasium
did your contra go to a Low C? i want to play this really bad but mine doesn’t go to a Low C only to a low Eb
would love to rock these bells omg
hey
hai
Cobra alto is so fun must be weird getting a notification form a vid ten years ago
Well, I did have to reset the password to log on XD
Love this.
I somewhat don't understand the helicopter effect
🎶🎶🎶👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
My highschool band was going to perform this piece right before the pandemic hit. I remember sight-reading this piece for the first time, and the percussion simulating the sound of helicopters gave me literal chills. Horn 2 was one hell of a part, but my section managed to get through it. We never got to perform this piece in the end, but my god this is going in the memory book.
Played it yesterday, amazing piece.
I attended Fort Vancouver High School in Vancouver, Washington. Was a clarinetist in their band in 1983. We had this song as one we played for our football halftime shows! Hats off to our most fantastic music director, James Iafrati! And to our 2 marching band leaders, Dirk Levy. Forgot who our second leader was!
What I appreciate about the trumpet part is that yeah you don’t play much, but you get admire the beauty of the song and listen, and when the trumpets play, you know it’s intense

2:34 is mine favorite
1:28
hi, I found this sound is quite good to be used in virtual event, is this song can be used in facebook live? thanks in advance.
istg the running 16th notes are still stuck on my hand to this day
I’m playing snare drum on this song and when I get bored in class I start jamming out playing this on my knees
I love this slow I feel like a lot of other rush through
In my high school the band has been playing this every couple years for decades, like since the 60's. Well it's finally my turn to play it and I'm doing the duet part of the trumpet solo, where a second person joins in middle of the solo, I'm that second person. And I'm a junior and the soloists are usually seniors so I'm very excited
I got to play the piano bit in this and idc if it’s repetitive it was really fun
Since the trumpet were the melody most of they time and it was F and FF I Went off bruh
I was the piano soloist in this song during my junior year of high school, I miss the good days
I’m playing this for my band class this year and this is the first one I’ve seen without people singing I hate the choir
I heard this in music at school I LOVE IT😘
We played this my freshmen year. It's my favorite band piece ever
I played this Freshman year of high school for marching band, that was 18 years ago...Had a sudden urge to hear it again.
1:08 I get really sad for some reason
This has always been my FAVORITE concert piece. We played it when I was in high school. Still just as beautiful!
Ditto. We were a small band by all means, in a town of maybe 2500 at the time. But our director was great. Always held us to the highest of standards. I hated high school but I'd give up a whole lot to play in the band again. I played trumpet, first chair, from 5th to senior year. This will always be my favorite piece.
This is the only song from high school band that I keep coming and listening to! We all loved playing this song!! I played the bassoon!
