Kindred Academy
Австралия
Добавлен 8 сен 2016
Kindred Academy is for Osteopaths, Craniosacral Therapists, LMT's to learn new treatment skills that they can immediately implement and make a much bigger difference with clients.
It's about teaching you easily implemented skills - improving core skills like treating low back pain, or skills for new areas like the TMJ and face.
Or a whole new area such as treating babies. Where you can learn completely new techniques and approaches and merge them in with your existing skills.
For example you may have skills that you use with your adults such as cranial or CST or even stretch, and they can be adapted for babies. I say 'even stretch' as that often suprises people, but of course we do that super kindly and always within what baby likes.
Watch the videos for more on all of that, remember watching is one of the fastest ways to learn!
So if you'd like some help with any of the above, subscribe to the channel so that you get notified when I upload new training videos

Osteopathy & Craniosacral Therapy - Why some patients dont respond to treatment
Просмотров 2,7 тыс.3 года назад
When using Osteopathy or Craniosacral Therapy to treat patients, you often find that one patient responds better to treatment than another. The obvious reasons are different presentation, different injury, differencies in health and history. But as an Osteopath or when using CST you will also see this when the patient presentation is almost identical. In fact it can be the same patient with the...

Osteopathic Treatment Technique : Case Study - Persistant low back pain
I'm a Physiotherapist and chiropractor. How can i access the course
The sleeping position is most likely airway protection - the tongue tie is not properly resolved, hence the persistent high palate from low tongue posture. Tongue tie causes airway issues narrowing and instability of the airway. I’m a Breathe Institute airway focussed lactation medicine specialist and maternity care provider. I see this in babies from birth.
Hello. I'm a pediatrician and IBCLC. I'm from Algeria and we don't have CS therapists. I want to learn CST to help my patients. Can I learn it just from your course? If so, is it accredited and how much it costs and how to join ?
Excellent! Thank yo SO much for sharing!
Thank you for describing this! I am just finishing my schooling and I find this very helpful advice. :)
Thanks so much
Love your videos. I just went for the first time to see osteopath and it hardly seemed like anything was going on. Ahe was putting her hands on me mostly and moved my legs and arms a couple times but it seemed like nothing was happening. Can you share why? I also didn't receive any diagnosis or sense of why my back locked without a reason, causing spread pain all around. Not sure what to think of it but she has many great reviews so I'm conflicted. Thank you
I am a craniosacral therapist working with babies in London. I am so pleased to meet an Osteopath that works so much like I do with babies, and thank you for this videos as I feel less alone with thinks when I teach as well. Thank you
Wow, so beautifully explained a complex n underated but important concept
My baby stretch so much and it scares me.
Same here 🤣 that why am looking for a video to know if it normal
This is so helpful. I am a Craniosacral Therapist and starting to work with babies, so glad I found this channel!
Thankyou, Yes I absolutely believe this
0:35 What is the “foetal” position?
What happens if left untreated. I have seen an osteopath and was told my baby’s fluid is rapid like he has had 6 redbull. He is very unsettled and agitated.
Do pediatric chiropractors do this?
This is an awesome video explaining the thought process of osteopathic techniques in assessing a patient, helped a lot as a beginner
Thank you! This is wonderfully articulated. I enjoy all your videos so much.
Thank you, so helpful!
Where have you been all my professional life ❤

Hi professor and college. I am from Portugal. I am an Osteopath , and I just love pediatric Osteopath. What you teach in all your videos is incredible and amazing, because you don't learn this in school. I would like to tell you, that my practice is very similar to yours, and still I learn so much with you. Thanks 😊 so much.
That was very inspiring! Thank you and greetings from Poland ☺️
Wonderful instruction. I am concerned about your personal skull to thoracic cage deformation. You show right lateral flexion of your skull and left high shoulder ( lateral flexion of the thoracic cage) throughout your videos. Usually indicates the atlas is riding high on the condyle on the right side causing pressure on suboccipital structures. I hope you can get some corrective chiropractic care soon.
Allow me to express my humble opinion: very disrespectful comments to someone who kindly shares information, in addition to that these types of comments show not professional ethics. Blessings, peace, love, gratitude, and joy!
That was awesome! Thanks so much.

Many thanks !
my pleasure, glad it was of use
Any info on how this helps with babies who hate car seats or high chairs?
One possibility is that one or more of the vertrabrae in their spine is sensitive to pressure and the car seat and high chair when they press on their back causes discomfort - you can test this by gently pressing on each one of their vertbrae in in turn to see if it is sensitive - being gentle is the key thing here you defintely arent trying to elicit pain you are pressing gently to see if its sensitive. Another possibility is that the position they are sitting in in the high chair is uncomfortable for their hips, (less of a factor in most car seats ) when they are in the high chair try supporting their feet with your hands and bringing the knees into a more flexed position to see if it helps. Of course once baby has assocaiated pain with the car seat/high chair they may be reluctant to be in them even if you can find a position that gives relief. Also some babies dont like being 'hemmed in' so it can be an element of that involved as well, but that tends to be more car seats, especially as it may usually mean seperation and less attention, whereas in a high chair usually the child is being engaged as we are trying to get them to eat - hope that helps, and if they are sensitive on the spinal vertabrae then do have someone like an osteopath experienced in working with babies check them out to see whats going on.
Thank you for sharing that. it is so important to share clinical cases.
it really is, there's so much we can learn from each other by sharing cases
Thanks for this information. I'm a Craniosacral therapist and it helps a lot to know all these tips. Do you recommend doing the articulations first and then follow up with the subtle cst principles or vice-versa?
Hi RP, great question, what I woud say is that if you've got cst skills try to enbed them in all of what you do so with the movements you see me use, find the stillness within that, which for me is at the heart of all cst/cranial. Some CST models of teaching are more biomechanical some more biodynamic but it doesnt matter what youve been taught because in regards to potency, stillness, breath of life etc - that was their from the origin of this work (Sutherland from 1898 to 1951) so its about your intent (or lack of!) your stillness inside of you that allows you to access that regardless of the formal model or branch of training you attended. And you can definitely have that stillness whilst moving yourself or/and when moving baby, it takes a little practice if you are used to being physically still when working on patients like with adults, but you'll pick it up. So if you approach it like that you are fully meshing and weaving your existing cst skills into a way of working with babies that may involve movement or may not it depends what the baby needs. For those reading this w/o cst skills thats ok - just do the movements, do the techniques and although they maybe a litlle more biomechanical to start with if you listen to the tissues they will guide you and you will learn to feel the connection, and that connection is what allows you to provide the support that baby needs to be able to start working to shift and resolve their issues - J x
So vital to sense into this and it could be a crucial part of their sense of their'boundaries' their NO! Interesting the shft from being horizontal to vertical too.. Being aware of the power dynamics of treatment is an intersting aspect too. Sounds like a powerful treatment. Curious did she come back or if this picture changed again?
I’ve been looking for something like this for years since APPPAH course.
thanks Vearle glad it hit the spot for you - J x
I’ve been looking for something like this for years since APPPAH course.
👍
How do you know and feel a lung lobe that has “shifted”?
yes also not sure how you work directly on this...?
How do you access this course?
Hi Stephanie, use this link www.kindredbe.com/treating-babies-courses it will take you to the Kindred Academy babies course page, and the details of all the babies courses - J x
go indirect first, then direct. Finish with indirect again if there is extreme pushback by nervous system. I call it “lulling” the nervous system…lol. Great video and great information!! Thank you. :)
yes lulling it is a good word to use, direct or indirect both have their places as long as we're working within the tolerance of the nervous system, and starting with indirect will often create a bit more slack to work with then like you say if a bit later on that nervous system starts to kick up, sense that as soon as possible and course correct.
Adults feel "pushing" in a therapists intention also, they are just too polite to say anything. They say it by not coming back.
Yes very true, the feedback isnt perhaps as instantaneous as with babies, but if a lot of adult patients are only coming to see you once you're either doing a great job or you're not!
this was lovely, thank you for sharing !🙏
My pleasure Anni, glad you liked it.
I’m taking my 7 month old for his first appointment tomorrow, as he has never been able to nap easily. I’m very apprehensive as the time of the appointment is when he gets very sleepy, and cries (and screams). I’m really trying not to stress, as I know he can pick up on that!
Did it work lol
Yes! 😀
Can I practice this on a 3 months old baby with cerebral palsy?
Hi Selny, helping a baby with cerebral palsy (cp)will be a more complex picture, so I cant give you a specific answer on this as i'd need to be in the room with baby to assess the extent of what is going on for them. The difficulty with fetal positioning for a baby with cp is that they can have floppy muscle tone or muscle spasm and/or a preference to use one side of their body and all of that can strongly override the influence of the fetal position. I would also reccomend that the baby get treatment with a practitioner that has experience working with cp as early work for baby can be very very helpful. (Disclaimer as I havent seen and assessed baby the previous comments can not be taken as medical advice in anyway and with a condition like cerebral palsy it is very important that you consult and work with your local doctors to get the best support possible for your baby.)
How can you tell baby has CP at 3months old, kindly educate me on CP in newborn

Thank you for sharing this video. I am manual physiotherapist\cranial practicioner getting baby in few months so that helped me a lot for start.
thanks Blaz, glad it was of use, good luck when you start helping baby, just remember to start away from the head (as that can be a sensitive area, plus it gives your hands time to get used to working with baby), go nice and slow, nice and gentle and most of all enjoy the experience and dont put pressure on yourself to "get it right' as that will make your nervous system ramp up and that can then often make it hard to settle baby. - J x
hi Blaz, glad it was of help, just be patient with yourself (and with baby of course!) when you start - we can put a lot of pressure on ourselves to get the treatment right for baby, but of course that then ramps up our nervous system which will be noticed by baby, so just relax, go slow and gentle and enjoy !
Thanks for this great video. You mention you could put up a video re treatment. Could you do that for this please, that would be great!
A brilliant help for parents to begin to understand some of the benefits of babies coming for treatments. It would be great to have a video on how to best support parents to settle as it is so hard in the early years not to feel strung out, guilty or anxious!
thanks Sara, yes good idea will put that on the list, although I must admit the list of topics to cover seems to be getting longer not shorter - J x
Great video! Would love more info on how it helps Colicky symptoms, digestion issues
thanks Bridget, glad it was if use, colick, digestion, yes definitely on my list to shoot a specific video on that - J x
As a midwife I’m connected to your advices in using visualization. Thanks so much!
yes visualistion is a great way to improve what we do. I do remember years ago reading that visualisation was restrictive because it meant we were only open to what we could visualise and that could never accurately match what was under our hands because there is so much anatomical variation between humans, and so it would hold treatment back. But I dont think thats the case, because when we use visulaisation its just one part of what we do and so it becomes 'intuitive visualisation; where we use the visualisation to open a door and make a connection and then once that connection is made we allow the body feeding back to us to hone what we do. - J x
So useful to understand the mechanics of the work. Thank you for this clear information😊
Thanks Laura
very helpful video, thnx
my pleasure, glad it helped
