- When using Osteopathy or Craniosacral Therapy to treat patients, you often find that one patient responds better to treatment than another. The obvious reasons are different presentation, different injury, differencies in health and history.
But as an Osteopath or when using CST you will also see this when the patient presentation is almost identical. In fact it can be the same patient with the same injury presenting on 2 seperate occasions and on one treatment then respond really well, and in the other ... nada!
In this tutorial we will explore this phenomenon with reference to the flight fight system and explain how when treating with Osteopathy &/or craniosacral therapy it's super important to palpate for the current state of the nervous system, and recognise when it is in 'lockdown'
As when that happens your normal Osteopathic and craniosacral therapy techniques aren't going to be effective. And this is where we get into the intracies of Osteopathic and craniosacral therapy,
Because yes its about good technique but more so its about being discerning as to how we go about our treatment, and recognising that the body is a very complex unit, and encompasses a lot of 'hardwiring' from our evolution.
The Osteopathic patient discussed in this tutorial is a great example of this in action and this patient's story will stick in your mind and really help you treat other patient's who dont respond for similar reasons.
Wow, so beautifully explained a complex n underated but important concept
Wow.. it's so good to hear you
It helps a lot in our own osteopathy practice😀
thanks Kushal, really glad it helped - 'cos its strange in that we can be surrounded by patients all day and yet at the same time it can be a bit lonely being a practitioner, so it's always good to connect and share how we practice - J x
