Thanks for very interesting analysis of Robert Cecil. I am particularly interested in the plots of 1603 where James owes a huge debt of gratitude to Cecil for prosecuting the perpetrators, (and Raleigh who clearly wasn't guilty - but it suited Cecil and James to behave as though he was.)

As a direct descendant of the Earl/ Lord Yarborough, a member of Parliament, I have an undying interest in learning more about him. I do know that he was married at Burghley House and was the commander of the Queens Royal Navy Yacht Squadron . His home was the Brocklesby Estate .I hope that there would be enough public interest that you could post something about him if you have enough information to do so. I live in the U.S.A. but my dream in life is to visit England and Brocklesby. Thank You !

Sorry I might be a little late but basically the magistrates used the Riot Act to deem it an illegal assembly. Any gathering of 12 or more could be deemed as illegal. So in hope to prevent the assembly they used the Act in help to stop it but it only delayed it. It was not so much them were calling the election illegal but rather the gathering of it.

I believe that the vast majority of it was sold off to an American collector- typical! I found what you said about your Mother absolutely fascinating! Did she ever take any photographs of it? I presume not, however, there's no harm in asking.
