Mickey Thompson Tires Unleash the Power of the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170
I had both Winter Tires (Blizzak) & All-Weather tires (Pirreli Scorpion & Mickey Thompsom Baja Boss). Both performed well during winter season in Canada.
I've had Chinese tyres on my Jaguar for the past 3 years without any issues. Good tyres, good price!
You still have to buy a new tire to replace it! Another monopoly game.
Went with the Goodyear for price and USA company.
That mountain background looks like colorado
$200 per tire
Wont come with 3 peak mountain snowflake symbol. Useless in large parts of Europe. Better off with a another summer tire or a more expensive legal winter tire with correct markings.
It does have the 3 peak symbol. Were you not listening.
Both my vehicles currently have CrossClimate2's installed as they are the next best thing to dedicated snow tires. I had previously swapped summer tires with winter tires every year, but got tired (hehe...) of that. Now I just run CC2s all year long. However, competition is good... would be nice to have some competition for the CC2s to bring prices down.
What the road force machines do NOT do is road force test the tire at the problem speed, which for most of us is around 65 to 70 mph. Look how slow the tire/wheel assembly spins during the road test. Can't be more than 30 mph :/
Cheat code if you don't have time. Call your local shops and find out who has the new Hunter ROAD FORCE ELITE tire balancer. You can also use Hunter's website to locate the Elite machines via their map.
Aramid is not basically Kevlar, Kevlar is branded aramid
I will never buy a Chinese tire no mater what brand it is. Communist China uses the money to make weapons to bully smaller country's like the Philippians.
Problem is that other tests by reputable car magazines shows increased mileage if going from recommended 32 psi to 38 psi. So who do we believe? And handling.. My personal experience is better steering response and consistent handling on my car when I push it harder and going up to 38 psi. I would appreciate the numbers referring to "over inflated pressure" being what? 35 psi? 50 psi?. AND, if you drive to the petrol station to check tyre pressure you will fin that the tyre inflation is over read, IE cold vs warm tyres. if you drive 3 km to the petrol station to check, please overinflated by a couple psi to get the correct pressure when cold. 32 cold is more likely 35 psi when hot.
Did Michelin add the ice grip rating to the the xice snow now? Looks like they did on there website
In other words waste a lot money in tires and in the end go back to a tire shop put more money and it never will be fixed. I got tired of this sh.. I bought a bubble balance and do it by my self, less money and better the tire shops!!! It take time but you will get it done and cheap.
I got these in 245/40 r18 on my Civic Type R and they are amazing on track. They also work like every other UHP tyre I have ever driven in the rain. So you should really try them.
no data to back up your claims...
I bet many people don't know tires have an expiration date which is somewhere between 6 and 10 years.
China has enough of our money. I try to buy USA Made products as often as practically possible. Otherwise I shop for products NOT made in china.
After the Hakka 9’s wear out, I’ll have to decide between these on Outpost APT for the ski season, as I use tyres One for 3-seasons
what about snow performance? isn't that the whole reason to get this tire?
Bozo 🤡
Per Consumer Reports, Sailuns are weak on wet braking. That rules them out automatically.
It's called traction/friction.
great video, and explanation of how a simple tire balancing machine vs road force balancing machine can make a difference for certain types of vehicles
Thank you for the information
The Michelin CrossClimate 2 is why I went back to having 2 sets of wheels. But... before the legendary CC2, I was happy with Nokian WR G3 and WR G4 as my winter tires.
If I see a review by a reputable expert I’ll be convinced. That applies to ALL products
Testing these tire is not about who is the best. You have to compare specific multi weather performances. It is not just about snow. As fas as I found out the CC2 is better in snow, compared to th GY. However just cold weather, combined with rain, the GY performs better. However both performe very well as they are both top quality tires. Making the choice is not just one is better than the other.
the official site refers them "as discontinued" is this true?
Don’t drive in a bad neighborhood….
Dry rot???
Why is the Goodyear WeatherReady 2 not sold in Germany? Or is it "just" a different name here, maybe 4Seasons G3?
The real question is, why does this issue only happen after changing the tires for the first time? When the vehicle is brand new, no off balance issue. Only after first initial tire replacement. How do they balance at the factory?
I run Nokian WRG3 All Weathers on my Infiniti SUV and they work very well on most days here in Calgary. They grip on ice and power through snow better than any All Season and work very well in the summer and shoulder seasons. But when things go bad or I am driving in the mountains I take the Volvo with the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 10 studded. The All Weathers are really good but they just can’t compete with a dedicated winter tire in winter conditions. Just don’t think that an all season is a winter tire. They don’t work once it gets below 5 C. Which is 5 months of the year here.
I don't understand how anyone can feel safe driving on wet roads with these tires. I have driven them for 10k miles on my stock GTI mk7. Horrible on wet roads. It's not hydroplaning, but understeering and sliding all over the place. Worst tires I've ever owned.
Recently purchased Petlas winter tires for my car. After a Google search, I found out they are made in Turkey. Not sure how this will turn out, fingers crossed.
Steel rims will soften with time and go out of round. Alloys are stiff and will bend out of round and develop point offsets. New rims will solve the problem. Lastly, there are locating marks on tires and rims that match to avoid weights altogether. If needed weights should not exceed a single unit for new assemblies. The rest is normal wear and should not develop vibration issues even with excessive breaking.
I just ordered a set of the 225/P65/17 Goodyear WeatherReady 2 for my 2014 Subaru Outback. Replacing a set of Pirelli Scorpion Plus AT's (they looked awesome and did a fine job for all terrains..) We just had a OEM size set of the Michelin CrossClimate 2 installed on my wife's 2020 Subaru Forester about 2 months ago. No snow or ice yet in southern Ohio but was impressed with the ability to handle well in wet conditions! So we have a set of each to compare over the long run. The price of the GY's were about $15 a tire less and a $100 rebate helped my decision today.
is it safe to ride on tires with51lbs when they were filled cold at 42lbs?????like when going from cold state to warm state???
Nice tire but worried about comfort flex sidewalls for people that like to hit curbs and parking stops. Something to look into before a Firestone type class action lawsuit which we all know it was fords fault.
I just put these on my Tesla Model X (replacing Michelin Crossclimates). First, they are FAR quieter. Second, after 500 miles, I'm getting 13% greater range that on my old Michelins. For my 90D, that's 30 extra miles per charge. I thought it was battery degradation ( 8 years old) but it was the Michelin tires that were killing my range. So far, these are darn fine tires.
which Michelins did you have before? I feel like Michelins are the relatively "safe" choice, but I also don't want tires that significantly reduce EV range -- while being hundreds $$$ more expensive. 😂
@ CrossClimate
Mich tires the best compared to GY
Great winter tires
We NEVER had winter tires back in the day and did just FINE...and the winters were worse than now...
I had a set of those once. Going 10mph around a soft turning lane in the rain I touched the painted line and my car went completely sideways. They channel water away great but they have no lateral grip. Don't fall for their gimmick.
I have the Goodyear ones, I tested them in heavy rain. Did about 85mph in my rav4 hybrid and cut through the rain like butter on freeway. Took my car to the mountains to test in snow and was able to drive up cabin roads etc. not sure what ur talking about
Oh, that scratch from hex key at 00:06:16 😶
is that still an issue? only in favella's in Rio or Caracas i guess?
His analogy is flawed. Comparing Chinese made products using Apple is wrong because Apple controls the manufacturing, the components and the methods of manufacturing. He needs to compare an Apple phone to Huawei phone. If he does that, the lack of quality for the Chinese phone are beyond obvious. This is the same for all western countries who have manufacturing facilities in China. The problem arises when you look at a Chinese sourced tire. Something like a lionhart which is a Chinese owned tire. Nice looking tire but the rubber compound contains contaminates that affect the curing of the rubber. The belts inside the tire so not finally the way to the edge and the bead sometimes isn't complete, meaning that there may be gaps in the cord that makes up the bead. Talk to a tire installer and they will tell you which tires they have the most difficulty balancing and which tires will have problems on the highway due to defects inside the tire and it will ALWAYS be a Chinese brand tire. And yes, major brands to make tires in China... But can you be sure that that Michelin tire is ACTUALLY a Michelin and not a cheap copy which is what China is MOST famous for?
Best way: spray your tires with cat pee lol.
