    Just had this happen on my GX Transmission after 15 months. Inside pin is stuck down. Waiting to hear back from Sram. Temporary fix: cut a piece of solder to fit inside the circular battery contact. Coat it with grease so it stays in place. Re-install battery and you're back in business.

    Had two X01 rear derailleurs that stopped working without any notice. One on a bike that was in a storage (the RD worked after a ride and didn't before the another), the second one was on a new bike. The RD only worked when i wobbled the battery or when I put a piece of electrical tape between the battery and the RD itself. I hate SRAM.

    Thank you for addressing the issue. For the money they are charging, the system should be totally water proof. So, this is on them and they need to act... May be non-conducting grease should help to keep the water out. I personally, do not ride in the rain, but due to humidity and other factors, electronics do have tendency to condensate water due to changes in temperature. When you heat mountains and altitude changes rapidly, you get the idea. They should put a simple o-ring around the battery edges. That is probably a 2 dollar solution.

    Superb video. IMO all electronics should be sealed, and the spring thing should be eliminated, there sohuld be non mechanical contacts. This is horrible design. The reason I look into electronic is my thumb gets fatigued from mechanical, even with clutch off, and I have thumb misalignment during shifts, I never know when it will happen, and no way to stop it, and it hurts a lot, so I need electronic. I currently use archer D1Xtrail, but the motor fails, it will fail between one and two years. And Archer Components went out of business. And as they don't have stock for 1gen shifter they can't fix one that broke, so I had to take one off my shopping bike, but it on my enduro bike. But when that fails I'm screwed. I will have to get another SLX shifter, as they have light actuation, but it will still be fatiguing, and can be very painful when the thumb misaligns during as shift. The paddle remote had perfect ergonomics for me. So original Sram AXS remote and the second one look like they could work quite well for me. But I've not tried it yet. The 2gen shifter looked promising, it was compatible with Sram AXS, Shimano DI2 batteries too, clip on battery. But as the company is out of business, doesn't make new products. I need a different option. Until then Deore RD, SLX shifter is going to have to be my compromise. XT and STR Shifters have too firm action. In my opinion a perfect system doesn't exist.

      Thanks man 🤙 Just avoid GX and you should be good! The new axs pod is nice but a little harder to press. But the older pod which is compatible with this newer stuff should be a perfect replacement for your archer system. Thanks for watching!

      @thebigoutsidemtb but things that suck: need to use Sram cassette, can't adjust amount of gears, can't micro adjust each gear, have to use their chainring or wait for compatible oval to arrive from third party brand, absolute blaack has one but only fo seam mount, none for rafe face Cinch. So this means new bottom bracket, cranks. 🤦This is stupid. All of this means absurd cos tto upgrade. When all I need is a rear derailleur and remote. But they made it so I need it all. 🤦 Sram misses you ton many customers. They could've added a regular cassette mode in the software.

    Going back to cables. Tired of being reliant on such whimsical gear that can get you in big trouble if youre far away from home. Had one derailleur fail already in the pogo pins. Some get a single bike gifted to them by a manufacturer and run what is fitted already,. Others just starting out on the independent trail have to finance everything. I can tell you have never tried an EXT, Manitou, Ohlins or Formula fork as you would realise in the first 200m of riding that they are night and day above Fox and RS. My pogo pins failed because the springs inside them failed. The GX unit had no quick access screws for the pogo pins. The warranty replacement was an XXSL, where you can notice two screws next to the pogo pins for more quick access. I had to buy a whole second derailuer because the failure occurred right before a race. The unfortunate mistake is not buying expensive components first-hand. You might have a bit of money in the short term, but I’ve found almost all the components on my bike had to be warrantied eventually. I’ve had just as bad of luck with Shimano. Their XTR pedals are walking design flaws. Their other components they don’t sell replacements for. (Even for something basic like brake seals). It’s ridiculous, but also the warranty has always been a full new replacement with no questions asked. Not sure why they operate like this. I’m convinced most people don’t ride enough to find these flaws.

    • @thebigoutsidemtb
      @thebigoutsidemtb 15 дней назад

      First off, the XXSL isn't a thing... That is the cassette that makes it "SL". Also, there ain't no way they sent you an XX for a GX! From what I've heard they give you a GX or X0. Never a XX.

    • @NewbGamingNetworks
      @NewbGamingNetworks 12 дней назад

      @@thebigoutsidemtbI was originally confused too, but there is a distinction between XX and XXSL. There are a few component differences, but the easiest to see is the aluminum vs carbon lower cage plate. The 2024 spare parts catalog shows you all the different parts in all the models, if you’re curious. Now, as far as the warranty. TLDR they felt bad. I had two defects in my original GX. The first was a “microadjust offset” issue. It never shifted right. Microadjust was at max to even get it close. The shops didn’t know any more than I did because it was so new. Anyways, it was a total goose chase trying to figure it out. Ended up having to deal with it, even through my race season. (Shoved a small spacer in the dropout). Coming into the end of the year, I was preparing for my final A-race. It was about 1-week out and my derailuer has the pogo pin issue and turns into a brick. At first I jam some lube in there, but then notice the spring inside the pin completely failed. (I jam some tinfoil in there). Ended up having to buy a second GX because it was either that or my race was ruined. So in the end I think I broke even. 😂
