Peaks is wonderful. She's got lots of fans. Trail Daze is a great tradition, be careful of Riff-Raff in the woods.

Bear bagging sucks! I lost a couple of throw bags before hitting on the idea of replacing the nylon drawstring with one that is easy to break. Nice campsite! Good video of the Nolichucky River with the hawk/buzzard. Uncle Johnny's is cool! I zeroed there in '22, but passed on it last year when the guy who I teamed up with wanted to do fancier digs (motel in town). I hiked out of Erwin with a friend from home who thrued in '15. Good memories!

Been there, done that (last year I hiked 1,040 miles before blowing my knee out). I'm breaking in a new one and hope to thruhike the entire AT in a year or so. I turned 70 last year. The trip is worth the pain. My decision to thruhike came right after completing the Trail in the fall of 2022 in sections. There's nothing quite like the entire thruhike experience. New subscriber, "Tinker," halfway, 2023. Yes, I healed up enough to make it to mile 1100 (plus a couple) before the end of 2023. This is week 4 of total knee replacement recovery.
