Sonic The Hedgehog is Dead

SEGA might have lost their minds with this one. Let's go find out who killed Sonic The Hedgehog.
So jak isn’t mar. He’s just named after him and carries his blood. This was a longtime misconception
I always love some sly cooper RUclips content. This is the first video of yours I’ve randomly come across definitely going to watch the other sly vids and jak/daxter videos after that. Sly cooper was my childhood. I’m 31 now and I still replay the series regularly
Yes a great game, but...I was never a big fan of Erol being the main villain. I would have preferred if they brought back Gol and Maia to team up with the Dark Makers. Two Sages who studied Dark Eco would have made more sense. Not some guy you race twice in the second game. They even teased their possible survival at the end of Jak and Daxter.
I am waiting until it's been a full year since I first played these games, don't want to cheapen the experience of them by playing them multiple times a year.
After playing the first three games first time last year, this one was by far my favorite, I honestly think it is a good game, only downside I found is the final boss, the thug boss and those annoying yetis but that really doesn't bring the game down overall.
Also the lack of collectables like bottles and treasures also brings the game down a little.
Some of the locations are just really dull to me such as the Australia one, we also have much less episodes than the previous game.
I remember you saying in your Sly 2 video that Carmelita needed to get better at her job. I think she did in here. Still can't catch The Cooper Gang but got other stuff done on her own.
Sly 2 and sly 3 are my favorite entries in the series.
Sly 3 my favorite in the series
Jak , Ratchet & sly you just reviewed my childhood.
I like Sly 2 and Sly 3 about equally. Sly 2 with the great interconnected story, and Sly 3 is really funny.
My big cousin got me into this game back in 2003
My favorite in the franchise
RUclips Recommended Sly Cooper is my second favorite video game franchise since childhood.
What's the first?
For sure is a good game Sure gameplay aged poorly but it is still fun Story is very good Bosses were ok First one is good introduction to bosses I guess Second one is ok Qwark is mid as a boss but he was difficult which I like And then drek - he was very good imo I liked the creativity in his bossfight First we fight as clank then ratchet and then during the fight we have to deactivate the deplanetizer many times which is climactic storywise and challenging gameplay wise And the ending-beautiful Weapons are the weaksest part of the game for me but still good I only bought blaster pyrocitor, walloper, rocket launcher visitbomb and tesla claw I also Bought 2 nanotechs and in the end I had 50k bolts which is crazy cause in oltanis(after I bought 2 nanotechs) I bought tesla claw and I had 500 bolts and it went to 50k and the end Also in the second playthrough The gold weapons upgrades are very cool additions But you cant upgrade weapons which is a shame And cause of that for 80% I used my wrench instead of weapons for extra challenge I beaten this game today Which is why I knew all stuff(like bolt counter) Oh yea drek as a villain He is basic but a good villain(unlike the remake) He feels like a threat,he has a personal connection to ratchet via veldin And I like how he is tied to the theme of the game- capitalism materialism and etc This game is 7/10 for me -a good game Not higher cause gameplay is klunky
Always good to see Sly still being talked about
Themselves fighting words
Sly 3 is great, it's just not Sly 2, but it's almost as good, so it's great.
Oh, if you thought this ending was lackluster. I can’t wait to see your reaction with thieves in time. ( by the way to get the actual ending for sly 4 you have to 100% the game which is a pain in the ass. so just look up the last cut scene when you’re finished)
egypt
Sly 3 is my favorite game out of the series
NGL all of the games are so different in their own ways. I love all three bc of that. Thanks for the content regardless.
I played 3 before 2, I VASTLY enjoyed 2 more than 3 despite some of the unpolished gameplay and design (in comparison to 3). it just felt like a more cohesive story and I felt more like a thief
Tbh, only thing that bothered me about the ending was how Carmelita got in the vault so easily yet Dr. M spent decades trying to get in 😂
That’s true, completely went over my head 😂
By that point though the whole vault is crumbling apart right? So she probably just came in from a hole in the ceiling of the final room was always my idea. Or does it not start falling apart until after she shows up? It's been a while lmao
Dr M spent decades trying to open the vault. Carmelita got in when it was opened..
Everyone’s forgetting that Dr. M tried to go through the entrance. Carmelita didn’t even enter the vault the same as Sly and Dr. M! She just crashed through the side of the wall. Dr. M spent so long trying to open the entrance when Carmelita found that fragile spot from the outside to get in!

I've always seen Sly 2 as a vast improvement over 1, with 3 being between them in quality but closer to 2 than 1. So if Sly 1 is a 6 out of 10, Sly 2 is a 10 out of 10, I think Sly 3 is closer to a 9 out of 10 than an 8 out of 10 imo. Most confusing comment I've ever left I s2g 💀
Still made sense though!

Yeah. It’s pretty good as a standalone game! The writing and gameplay is super good if you only look at it on its own. However, comparing it to the previous games instead of standalone is what makes it bad. Cause how it ruins the characters (All except Bentley and maybe Carmelita imo) and also you can just tell it’s not the same team who made it so it doesn’t feel the same. Good PS3 game, yes!!! Good Sly Cooper game, no…! I do absolutely love the ancestors and getting to play as them, though! Super cool to have heard about them since the beginning and now finally get to meet AND play as them!
I enjoyed Sly 4 over Sly 3, so to each their own. Sly 2 remains king though.
Currently replaying Sly 4 for the first time since it came out. I'm still on the first chapter, Turning Japanese, so I haven't formed a complete opinion on it yet. But so far, I'm not seeing what's so bad about the game. I understand the story has poor writing decisions, but that doesn't bother me too much as the story isn't what I play Sly for. Plus if it get's too bad, then I can THANKFULLY skip cutscenes, unlike how Suckerpunch has a fetish for un-skippable cutscenes, so that's already a huge plus over the previous games. But when I finally finished replaying Sly 3 a couple of days ago for the first time since I was a kid, I recall my opinion when I started the game being the same as it is now that I'm on Sly 4. I was struggling to see what's so bad about Sly 3, as I saw a lot of people say that it was much worse than Sly 2, which is a game that left a bad taste in my mouth, especially after how I remember considering Sly 2 to be the best of the series, but that perception got ruined after completing Paris, where the game just progressively gets worse and worse. But I was not prepared for just how much worse Sly 3 was compared to Sly 2. I'd play Sly 2 over Sly 3 any day of the week. Sly 2 already had it's fair share of frustrating gimmick levels, but most of the levels where you play as Sly were fun. Sly 3 is like 80% shitty gimmick levels and it gets worse and worse as the game continues, like Sly 2, but on crack. So for all I know, Sly 4 could be the same. Starts off good, but get's ruined by forced gimmicks and mini games. Sly 1, remains the best for me. I love the linear Crash Bandicoot-like levels and the gimmick levels weren't as abundant as they are in the following games. Also, I wasn't forced to play as Murray and Bentley in Sly 1, so it was much more enjoyable being able to play as the character who felt the best to control.
I was that guy with Kingdom Hearts lol played a bit of the first one at a friends house. Then like 15 years later I got 3 when it came out and couldn’t get into it
Sly 3 is a game I have a lot of personal connection to. I owned Sly 1 and 2 on the PS2, but never 3. I didn't even know it existed until years later when I was browsing the PSN store on PS3 and saw the HD version. I don’t think I've ever begged my mom harder for a game than Sly 3 lol. Because of that, a lot of the flaws didn't register, because I was just so happy to have more Sly Cooper. I didn't care that there were no bottles or treasures, didn't care that the game was padded with gimmick sections, it instantly became my favorite. Basically, 3 occupied the same position of "long awaited sequel" in my mind that 4 did for everyone else, except 3 was actually good. Looking back on it now, 2 is the better game, but I'll never forget the way Sly 3 made me feel the first time I played it. As for the ending, I'm going to have to hard disagree with you here. The ending of Sly 3 is the best part, because it ties up everything the series had been about. Sly 1 is about Sly reclaiming his family legacy. His history was stolen, and he went out to steal it back and get revenge. Sly 2 is ostensibly about something similar, cleaning up the pieces of his family's greatest enemy. But in the process of doing so, it becomes more about the bonds between Sly and his gang. They face down challenges together, growing and changing and dealing with loss. The plot of Sly 2 may be about Clockwerk and the Cooper legacy, but the story is about the brotherhood between the gang. Sly 3 is the point where those 2 sides come crashing together. Sly is on yet another mission to claim back part of his legacy, but the framing is different. We start in media res with Sly about to be killed, and that layers the rest of the story with a sense of doomed inevitability. The game isn't even about the Cooper Vault for most of the runtime, that may be the goal we're working towards, but the game is always focused on the new recruits and what they want. Keeping the final job at an arms length means the thing we remember most about it is how badly it's going to go wrong. It kind of starts to feel like a fools errand, helping all these other people find happiness and knowing that it won't go that way for Sly. And as those connections build, as Bentley starts dating Penelope and Murray finds inner peace with the Guru, you start to wonder if the vault is really what Sly needs to feel fulfilled. Once we catch up to his near-death experience, Sly’s thoughts are centered on this dichotomy. He both thinks about how he wishes he could tell Carmelita how he feels, and that he wishes he could've seen inside the vault. But again, the framing between those 2 is different. Thinking of Carmelita, he thinks of Bently's happiness, how he wishes to have that and how much time he's wasted dancing around the issue. With the vault, all he thinks about is whether he'd live up to his family's legacy, and if his father would be proud of him. In these two desires, one is about the future he wishes to have, and the other is about the past he can't leave behind. As an audience member, we know which of these desires is better for him, even if he hasn't figured it out yet. The rest of the finale is about him figuring it out. The reveal that M was a member of Sly's dad’s gang, and his parallels to Bentley, serves as a reminder that the Cooper legacy has hurt people. It's left up in the air whether Sly’s dad actually treated M poorly or if it's just M's ego, but Bentley unequivocally was harmed by being associated with a Cooper. It makes Sly have to reckon with the bad parts of his legacy, how it's hurt his friends and himself. When he finally gets inside, the Cooper Vault is majestic. But is that majesty worth it? What's the value of the Cooper name if it means getting thrown in jail, getting your best friend crippled, and keeping the woman you love forever on the other side of the law? In the end, Sly decides it isn't worth it. He fakes amnesia to be with Carmelita, and leaves the criminal life behind. It's a powerful and conclusive ending. It tells us that we should be willing to let things go if they aren't working for us anymore, no matter how deeply those things are connected to us. Don't be so mired in who you were in the past that you can't see what's best for your future. And in a meta sense, the ending is also talking to the audience. Sly Cooper has done all he can do. He's moved on, and so should you. It's a strong message, and my favorite ending in any video game. Heck, might even be my favorite ending to a story, period. Anyway, even if I disagree about the ending, this is a still a good video. I hope you have a good day.
Well thought out comment as always good to see you back. I’ll agree to disagree with you on the ending. I think the amnesia, real or fake, just leaves a poor taste in my mouth as an overdone cliche
how do you explain in Sly 4, he goes back into his old ways. I
@@TimeDreamsAhead Because Sly 4 is a bad fanfiction made by a different studio almost a decade after Sucker Punch took their own advice and moved on to Infamous.

I love this game as well, but that said I definitely feel like they could polished the gameplay with a little more effort and mad the transformations more viable and easier to use. For instance with dark Jak I propose with that strength he had he should be able to grapple enemies to throw and knockout other enemies and be able to configure the electric attacks to be more useful in combat. Light Jak should act as smooth transition to defense and give you ACTUAL flight which would make it easier for roaming across long distances instead flopping like a fish in the air hoping you don’t run out of wind you gust up to get the next platform. Physics and camera while improved slightly from the last entry could have been done better to be more flawless and not clunky. The weapons though fun, I feel could have also been paired nicely with melee weapons considering the fighting with the fists needed a change up too in my opinion. The story could have used a little more work or just acquire a better fantasy writer because the characters are so good personality wise there really wasn’t much room for them to be fleshed out with the script that was given. Overall I think the Jak series are gems but could do with a proper reboot.
Jak isn’t “The” Mar, he is heir to Mar. He is part of “The” Mar’s blood line and is just named after him. If you pay real good attention to details in jak 2 and 3. People actually thinking he is the actual mar who built haven city is absurd and makes little to no sense. So I refuse to believe he is “The” Mar.
bro should have more subs fr i be watching you at 3 am
In my opinion the 3 is the best then comes the 1 and then the 2
That's just a summary of the game
💪 🗿
Yes, it is. And I'll play the game again as soon as the OpenGOAL team releases an official port to PC since the PS4/PS5 version is practically unplayable, my PS3 where I had the HD collection is practically dead and PCSX2 has language issues and no music on main menu.
A note on the over-arching relation between the inept president being Sasha's dad being an important note and why Quark is just given a pass and allowed to command the Rangers: The president is so unbelievably inept that he genuinely believes what he sees on TV, believing Clank is the true hero due to the 'Agent Clank' TV show and believing Quark is a Mega-Hero from his earlier time as an over-hyped fake hero. The galactic rangers may be Sasha's force, but it's still in service of the president as the commander in chief and Sasha's father even if he is an idiot, hence Quark getting his pass. Dad said so. My head canon is the president put the galactic rangers together and funded the hell out of it as a gift to his daughter who wanted to be like the heros her father told her about growing up. Explains for me why it's only sasha and a bunch of robots until ratchet joins up, the president didn't actually intend for it to be a force taken seriously, until shit hit the fan on veldin and sasha accidentally recruits agent clank of all people.
Honestly the largest part that you missed is all the speedrunning tricks. Seriously once you think you're getting bored of this game you can look up a speedrun guide learn at least most of the tricks because there are only a few hard ones and see how much fun you'll have
may I ask how old you are? Most complaints you have, to me, seem to come from you not being used to PS2 era games. Especially regarding difficulty
Jak 1 and 2 are amazing. 3 is mid.
As someone who just played through and beat both the first and the second game (after never beating these games as a kid and constantly restarting cause I was too bad to beat them😂) I feel like my opinions mirror a lot of yours. Although I did find the soundtrack, maps, and story of the first game to be much more memorable, the second game features much more fun gameplay ignoring those 2 awful boss fights. Both of these games were big parts of my childhood and to go back and play them to see they are just as good as I remembered is awesome. I think the first one remains my favorite out of the 2 I replayed so far but I'm excited to see how moving on to the next 2 ps2 titles will change my opinion
Jak 3 has never been a good game, it is a collection of mini games.
It's very different than Jak II & Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy but I wouldn't say it's a bad game.
Nothing wrong with this format or the old one amigo 👌
Quick answer: YES!!!
I beat this game when i was a kid.. its not that hard just requires patience.
I had a similar problem that you had with the thug leader (giant robot) with the mega protopet as a kid to the point that i ended up killing it without entering the arena because as a kid i made the choice to prioritise weapons over armour (i even grinded to get the Zodiac)
