Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching!
get a new on from orillies for 350.
New what?
**The most important thing about this job is the timing marks and you failed to show how they lined up!!!
I explained it several times. some of the marks are very hard to see with the camera due to where they are. Thanks for the feedback.
I mean the intake.
None of the valves were burnt.
That first exhaust valve is burnt
None of the valves were burnt, just a bad head gasket.
F that cam bolt! Also, by the grace of god and a custom 13mm wrench, i removed the pick up tube from the oil pump without dropping the pan!
Exactly! lol Yes, It can be done and that's how I usually do it. Otherwise the job is way bigger to remove the pan. Thanks for watching and the comment.
Hey guys do you have to also do the VVT solenoids at the same time?? mine it only rattles when it starts up and when it warms up for about 5 minutes, other than that it sounds smooth when running!!!👍🏽
My Suggestion is if you are in there for this issue they are only a few more $, Do them. Cause to replace them the valve cover needs to come off. Just make sure to buy quality ones. I prefere OEM!
What’s the recommended grit for the compound ? Great video
I usually use around a 180 grit compound. Hope this helps and thanks for the kind words and the comment.
Are the brakes the same from 2011 to 2019?
I do not know off hand. Best I can say is if you have the same Alison rear axle it should come apart very similar. But the 2019 model year is from 2015 and up.
You said that the passenger side cylinder head was hard to get off. Im having the same issue on mine howd you get the bolts out??
I had to get creative with a breaker bar and some extra leverage with a jack handle. Once they broke loose they came out no problem. Thought this one was a fluke with the stuck bolts. Let me know how you make out getting yours apart. Thanks for watching!
Where can I download or print off the diagrams you used in the video? Also, is there a good place to get a good Audi A5 repair manual? Thanks Randal
The pictures you see me use are from the factory service manual. It is online and only available from dealer techs. A lot of people do like the Bentley manuals but I'm not sure of a good place to get them. Thanks for watching.
Thank you. This will come in handy with my 1999 SL.
Awesome. Glad it helped. Thanks for watching and commenting
Nice lol but nope no we don't lol
awesome video and have you all read the grinch and early bday and christmas scavenger hunt clue for the kids video ideal

@@willpoweredgarage969 np i knew you all liked my ideals so i thought id be kind and generous send the gift cards to get the stuffand say miss emzy mayneed a little something extra for doing the pool part lol and didnt care one bit to do it
I've got the 2010 skoda version of the engine, EA888 gen 2 1.8L TSI, with the low oil pressure only at hot idle problem, which sound like what you've got. I've seen allot of debate about whether it's the cam bridge or the intake cam shaft. Allot of people have to replace the intake camshaft to solve the problem, in addition to the cam bridge. I'm just doing the cam bridge, in addition to a seized exhaust balance shaft and all the chains and guides... Hoping that fixes it, if not intake camshaft is next on the list...
Well, I can tell you in my experience I've seen the most successful repairs in changing the cam bridge and intake cam. Though if your balance shaft failed, that will cause a low oil pressure situation. I would inspect the intake balance shaft as well and drop the oil pan to inspect the oil pickup tube to make sure there is no debris in it from the failure. Thanks for watching and the comment.
i need an entire timing set for a 2016 chevy traverse ls 3.6. i’ve never got from rock auto but been thinking about getting it all from them? are the parts reliable? like worth it or should i go somewhere else for the parts?
So the thing about rockauto is to just be cautious of what you buy. They often have factory parts for way cheaper than at the dealer. They also have really good aftermarket parts. Some though are questionable. Their return system is really great and simple. The only thing I hate is that they charge shipping for each item coming from different locations. That can add up quickly.
Used the special tool, lines everything up now I have misfire codes and runs right at idle. I did have the battery disconnected for 2 weeks while I was ordining parts. Is there's a relearn procedure or could it be timed wrong?
Does the misfire counter see misfires at idle? Do you a Vag tool? if so check measure values 14, 15, 16 see if any cylinders are misfiring. I would also check the fuel trim numbers value block 32 and make sure you done have a vac leak causing a misfire. The timing could still be off and run well at idle and give you a misfire at rpm. If everything looks good just pull the valve cover and check that the cam notches are correct with the engine at TDC. Hope this helps. Feel free to message me if you are still having issues. Thanks for watching!
anyone reccomend a good workshop manual for this engine, i am doing a complete rebuild, need all the specs.
The best manuals for jobs like that are the Bentley manuals. When it comes to measuring bearings on these engines they are color coded and sometimes require two different thickness bearings for top or bottom of the journal.
Thank you very much. Your video help a lot, frank from Seattle
Hey Frank from Seattle, Glad it helped you out. Thanks for watching and the comment.
I have to replace pulley seal and i am wonder if i unscrew pulley i will lose my timing ?
It can, so the best thing to do is as soon as the crank pulley/ballancer is off, put the bolt into the crankshaft and snug it down. This will hold the sprocket in place for you while you repair the seal. Thanks for watching.
Your* I saw the thumbnail and had to...
Haha, thanks. Never been much for grammar or spelling. Now it bothers me, and I have to fix it.
All jokes aside thanks for the video, some great tips. Rebuilding my first 2.0 vw head and it helps.
Hello, is there any need to bleed the lifters before reinstallation. Just did a head and the valve train is quite noisy. Thankyou
So the only option is replace the whole damn thing?
Pretty much. I have not had any issues with it since It was replaced. Thanks for watching.
Try polishing it or use a hairdryer
I have one, and the same color, Its my toy 👍
Awesome, Diesel converted as well?
About how many hours did it take to do those valves?
The whole job? or just the head rebuild. The head rebuilt takes a few hours with the disassembly , cleaning, lapping, cleaning again and reassembly. Thanks for watching.
perfect guide, Gracias!!!
Thanks for watching!
I'm doing basically the same thing. Kind of stalled out right now though I'm thinking of trying something else. To bad you can't attach pics on here.
Well worth it. Truck is so much better to drive now. I just finally uploaded part 2 and working on part 3 now. It took a lot of tricky changes in the front steering. Thanks for checking it out.
What is the program name for the timing diagram
It's a dealer only program called Elsa Pro. Have to work at a dealer to use it.
Hey boss I recently did this, after a little I noticed it would leak oil, I tracked it down the balancer and just replaced the crank seal but I also noticed that the actual pulley for the chains isn’t really centered with the cover hole so the pulley would be kind of offset I think, but it only leaks after a drive and it’s a noticeable amount, any advice?
Just so I understand, is it leaking from the back of the balance shaft where it drives the water pump?
Dude this video just saved me much stress i thought it was a ball joint on my 19 challenger but now we know the real issue after we ran test pulled stuff off seen that everything was good and tight. Thanks bru
Great, Glad it helped you out. Thanks for watching !
Good vid. Doesn't seem too bad
Its really not once you understand how it comes apart. Thanks for watching
What size is your sway bar and whats the moog part# I have a 2018 sxt plus wirh a 28mm bar and cant find them in moog.
Hey there. The say bar on this car was 1.06" so about 27mm Part number was HP5416. Hope this helps.
Hi, did you replace the stretch bolts for the sub frame? I'm just wondering if it is realistically necessary as I will be carrying out this job...
No, I did not. When I worked in the dealer, we never did either. The manual says to, but It's really up to you to decide if you want to spend the money on a few bolts. Thanks for watching and the comment.
@@willpoweredgarage969 thanks for the reply. Very helpful thanks
Hi I have a 2022 Tiguan no lean codes misfires, or vacuum leaks. But where my rear main and engine is I have oil sweat. I would like to share you the pictures of this and what it might be. I have to check the vacuum pump gasket for seepage but it’s very concerning at the quality!
I would suggest checking the vac pump seals. Both where it seals to the head as well as the seal for the pump itself. Once they start leaking they begin to leak badly. Thanks for watching!
Great video with very real world application. Best one on this subject by far. I do have a question though. Is the phaser bolt a polly or a torx? And what size is it? I seem to see a lot of videos with this bold getting stripped, and I wonder if people are using the wrong tool bit.
Thanks for the kind words, It is a polly bolt, as for the size I believe it is a 10mm. But even with the right tool they are very easily stirpped, so be very careful while removing it. It is torqued very tight.
What high zinc/molly fortified lube did you use?
I have a few that I use. But places like Comp cams, crane or even Summit racing sell the proper lube for cam breakin.
Just to clarify, strut springs are compressed, not under tension.
Thanks for the clarity!
What a beautiful torque wrench with the gauge. What brand is it?
Hi, thanks for watching. It's a very old snap on. Its a turning torque gauge in inch lbs. I love the thing.
@@willpoweredgarage969 Very nice. Thanks for replying.
Do you have to remove the oil pan and baffle to remove and install the oil pump chain? That wasn’t shown in the video. Thanks.
If you want to replace the oil pump chain, you need to remove the oil pan and the oil pump. I have never had to replace that chain. Only the guide tensioner due to age. Thanks for watching.
@@willpoweredgarage969thanks for the reply.
One of the best How-To of an FSI that I've ever seen!! Thank you very much! Now I gotta do it on my Audi A3 2.0 FSI 2004! 🥰
Well it took 2 tries but I think this one filled in all the blanks. Thanks for watching and the kind words.
Nice vid!! What program do you use for all the information about the parts?
Its a factory service manual only available to dealer technicians. Thanks for watching.
awesome video and keep them coming
Thanks! Will do!
Any updates?
Yes, I am currently working on the next few videos on this. Hopefully will have part 2 out in a few days. Thanks for watching.
Would this cause the car to move backwards in drive gear and not drive at all?? Tried replacing transmission fluid also
This would have absolutely nothing to do with a failed transmission. Thanks for watcing
Will, you're awesome, brother! Thanks for the phone call and the amazing help with this. I'll let you know when done! Many blessings, Pav-
Pav, That's a nice bunch of cars you have there. lol Anyway, I hope I was able to take some of the confusion away and cant wait to here it was successful. I will take your advice about mentioning to ask ppl for Super Thanks donation if it helps so I can get some big expensive Coffee. lol
Hi, a big thank you for your vidéo on this engine, I don't know if you will see this comment because the video is old, but is there a particular procedure when reassembling the flywheel? I change engines but I keep the same flywheel and I don't see any marks or anything! thank you from France
Hi There, No there is not procedure. Like most Audi and Volkswagens the flywheel or flexplate only lines up to certain bolt holes. Once lined up I use blue loctite and torque to spec. Thanks for watching.
@@willpoweredgarage969 thank you very much, I couldn't find an answer to my question, I only found the tightening torques, thank you again
Is this for relocation of vss sensor in the rear axle of a super duty? Did to make a tone ring also? Man I want to put a 14 bolt in my excursion and finding it hard to find info on how to do it. Any info would be great!!!
Hi there, Yes this was to relocate the sensor for a superduty. I adapted it to fit the transfer case because I used the engine and trans from a super duty to swap into a 77 high boy. I just made a new mounting bracket for the speed sensor itself, The tone ring from the kit from Solo motorsports worked on the transfer case end as well. Hope this helps get you started. Thanks for watching.

No valve guide damage?
No, the valves usually bend only enough to not seal properly. The guides are fine. I have never seen a bad guide from this type of damage.
@@willpoweredgarage969 ok, i hope in my head too. My head is from 1.4 tsi, and i am not sure where is the damage. The chain jumped, rough idle, and OBD error correlaton camshaft and crank sensor. After change a new chain, click noise from valve cover. 2/3 inlet valves not move like others, but with a leak down test, i cant appreciate the leak....
