    If you start at the 45 min mark like many are saying you skip a lot of context, the myths, more importantly: the pitfalls. If you run to do things, you are likely to stumble getting the most of these tools. Stop. Read. (The book adds even more context). Think. Then act.

      Start by looking at the competitive marketplace and make sure you aren't dramatically lower than the competition. Being a little lower is offers no competitive advantage, whereas being higher does as long as you're investing some of that margin back into the customer/client experience. This is why luxury brands typically last longer than "bargain" brands.

    Can you please write me back!!! I need to speak on a topic with you about SOPs and the day-to-day operations and delegation of responsibility! I'm trying to assemble an arsenal that can at least handle tasks that need to be split into departments at least with an outcome for them to take over 60 to 80% of the task delegated! I'm trying to figure out how to be functional and operational in the shadow of someone like LVMH CEO Bernard Arnol 29:32

    Love you Ryan, but I used Notion in my business 6 years ago, and found it impossibly complex to run (even with a Notion assistant). More offensively, due to a technical glitch I was charged for THREE subscriptions concurrently and they refused to refund the two I didn't need and never used, and refused to entertain converting the subscription to a three-year commitment. I do not do business with jerks, or with businesses who hate their customers.

      Man, that sucks. I'm sorry. Notion is far from perfect and I'm definitely NOT a Notion ambassador. It's just what works best for us, and all I'm ever doing is showing what's working for us.

    This is the kind of ideas I used to get distracted by earlier in my business in an attempt to control the chaos. But business is chaotic. Especially in the early days, you’re far better off embracing the chaos and rolling with the punches than trying to organise it neatly in your notion. Most likely you need more/better customers, not more control. And until you have so many customers the wheels starts coming off, you need to just focus on that.

      Agreed. 90 percent of companies are not ready for this, and it would only act as a distraction. Though it is a lovely organizing system.

    • @RyanDeissOfficial
      @RyanDeissOfficial 11 дней назад

      From $0 to $1M you're absolutely right. If you don't focus on systems starting at around $2M you're unlikely to scale to $10M. If a $10M+ excitable business isn't your goal, then this video isn't for you, and that's ok. The beauty of entrepreneurship is we all get to chart our own paths. :)

    Great video, and I love the simplicity of the system/flowchart. However, you're fundamentally wrong about SOPs. Your business merely had simple enough processes that you didn't need that much detail. Likely, you have low turnover of staff, too. In a specialised environment (a niche within IT is a big one), SOPs allow things to get done. They are CRUCIAL when it comes to training new employees, and even beneficial to existing ones who haven't used a particular type of software in a while, or haven't come across a certain troubleshooting issue themselves before, but a colleague has. Truth is, you use what's best for your business. The more complex the processes and tasks, the more likely you need an SOP.
