The Compact Car That Shocked The Whole World!
I've always talked about these cars.....I know this car one of my favorites....had one for a few...bad clutch....
Oddly enough these cars don't seem to sell for really high #'s as a lot were actually taken care of and garage kept, so not as rare now as most would think.
My Saab model 99 EMS, utterly Killed one Cosworth Vega in a 20 mile race down VT's Route 100, south-bound to Killington, at 2 AM. I didn't really even Know that road, but the Vega driver did. After I passed him, about 3 miles into it, he was Toast. He wasn't even 'lit' behind me by the time I reached Rt. 4.. Vega was a silly, cheap GM Datsun-fighter, and it almost failed at doing that.
So out of a failed racing engine based on a failed production engine they made…another failure. Well done GM!
i'm sure that the european divisions of GM had engines that could have been used on the vega , The vega is in fact a bean counter's failure .
Looks similar to a fiat croma and Alfa 164
I had one in 1996
Wasn’t this the car that Jackie Chan was in and driving in cannonball run?
the blacked out one looks bad! i want one now
However mf works when it wants to :/
It took unborn me to the hospital. That kick with the turbo is hard to replicate.
Too bad they didn't offer the cossy in the first body style. That car was absolutely a beautiful POS.
Sorry to say, it does NOT reflect reality, there were better vehicles late 1960s with same 100hp per 100cubes already available. We know thus this is just creating youtube clip for your numbers. Shame on you!
It looks similar to an Opal GT.
How on earth does BMW sound exotic
In the early 1960s my father has a grey 3.4 Jaguar MK 1. So. when I was 21 I wanted a 3.4 Jaguar MK 2 but could not afford one. So I bought a P6 3500 S, the one with a manual box. While it didn't have the classic lines of the Jag it was a brutish looking car and fast for the time. I remember driving to Paris in it and setting off every flashing speed warning on the route National. At one point I came up behind a guy in a Renault 30 who wasn't going to let the old enemy pass. Ultimately the Renault was no match for the 3500 S. Oh to be young and irresponsible back in the 70s, such fun.
Very good player, but played too fast anything ends up sounding sloppy. To be honest, John Renbourn himself suffered from this.
We still own two. An 87 and 88 Conquest. 87 was bought new by our father and 88 by us in 1999.
I just want one!!! 💪🦵👀
what a beauty
The Rover P6 series was never a 'forgotten masterpiece' as this idiot video suggests - where the hell do they get their information from?
We had a blue "L" registered (1971 or maybe 1972 I think) P6 2000TC, pretty nice and reliable car. It ended its days in a farmers barn, my step-father had an MOT failure on it and boasted that he would do the repair himself, it was a rotten door sill the garage failed it on (structure). It was left up at a farm and years later he tried to sell it to a Rover enthusiast. It had dust all over it, the chickens had been living in it and it was beyond the grave unfortunately.. My natural father was going to buy a brand new P6 2000cc or maybe the TC or even 3500 V8 , I'm not sure? It was the P6 or maybe a good second hand Jaguar as it was a Leyland main dealer in Nottingham, Mitchells. He ended up test driving a P6 and then the dealer showed him a Triumph 2500PI. He bought the Triumph in preference, that was a fabulous car, his favourite of all time. He never did get a Jag!
ORGULHO BRAZIL !!!
FWD? gay.
The CHEETA !! Best looking SLOT CAR, ever built.. worlds worst race car- all 6 of them built before the factory burnt down..
They were not reliable, that's why they disappeared quicker than most others
I find it hard to watch what appears to be clickbait types of attraction. I am probably too critical to matter to you
The only reason I almost never drive this thing in EAWRC is that it has 7 gears. It's annoying for me in the game because my shifter has to be pushed in to get into 7th gear and it's very difficult to do quickly. But in real life it must have been an incredibly difficult and exhausting car to drive, even moreso than other Group B cars. 7 gears is a hell of a lot of footwork on a lot of stages. Since you are left-foot braking you are just dancing back and forth on the pedals. Add that to the already tough to handle power of the Group B cars and I can barely imagine.
I did not know these were also built here in South Africa. I have seen one on the road.
Yes. It was a lovely car. Comfortable and smooth.
Ok for a year until rust and corrosion ruined it.
Datsun foi o antecessor da Nissan este carro talvez tenha sido o "primeiro" Skyline
I remember riding in my sisters 1974 3500 p6 as a youngster and was & still is among the smoothest & best riding cars I’d ever been in. Today’s cars seem bumpy & jittery in comparison
A close friend's dad bought a 1967 Rover 2000 Automatic 3 speed to join their RR Silver Cloud in their garage. They tasked it with towing a 17ft fiberglass speedboat with 100 hp Evinrude outboard and trailer... We wished many times they had later upgraded to the V8 3500. Up hills was very laboured. Some long down hills the boat threatened to take over and the car did not have the power to pull it out of the tail waggles. We had to slow up with steady braking. Wonderful car to drive, comfortable and cosseting. I later got to directly compare it to my 1970 Citroen D Super 4 speed manual with 1985 cc. Both cars had 104 bhp. Both were great cruising cars at 70-85 mph... At that time both were totally reliable... I went on to achieve my ultimate in a 1972 DS21EFI 5 speed Pallas with leather and supreme headrests... Now I had the equivalent to the P6 V8 3500 happily cruising at 90 - 100 mph. A top speed of 110 mph in 4th and 120 mph in overdrive 5th... Again, the DS was totally reliable. I eventually got a DS23 EFI 5 speed Pallas but the 21 was a sweeter free revving motor...
The 1963 P6 as influenced by the 1955 Citroen DS has the modern engines in both 4 cylinders and Compact V8 the DS was lacking - having been designed for a flat 6... Both with high safety and unstressed body panels on a subframe. 4 wheel discs of P6 with inboard rear discs. DS with inboard front discs, rear drums and load proportioning device between front & rear brakes. The DS single headlight had the same little triangular indicator to show the front lights were on. Disappeared with glassed in self levelling out lights and turning inner spots.. Loved them both. While the DS was produced for 20 years and 1.33 million which became more reliable with the passing years the 15 years of production and 0.33 million P6s came down with Leyland disaster disease... Same fate as the amazing Triumph Stag...
Tried to bury?
The thing is that this car has possibly the most comfortable seats of all cars
.. i have originally magazines from '80s with that car, and that car was my 💘💌💋💝💞 because of the design of the exterior and very beautiful interior.........................
JAG - U - AR, not Jagwaw......
It's too bad they never made a coupé version.
My C5 V6 did 146 mph and cost me $3000 and had it for four years. Must admit the Lancia is the better looking car.
Funny... How is it as good as the lotus omega .. the omega was the fastest saloon car in the world it's the boss ... End of the story
The Thema was super niche, I think it’s very interesting and cool 👌
Antonio Martin famous Basketball player had an accident with one them, and lost his life.
Engine block was made by Ducati because the Ferrari one wouldn't fit
A car I have always admired from childhood. I just bought mine last year, it's the bestline version. I don't know exactly what year it was produced.
Looks like a pregnant sow.
8.32 = 8 cylinders, 32 valves
Hate the way Americans say McFearson for Macpherson.
The way this guy says anything is a bit annoying.
The Rover P6 is not forgotten, not by this old guy anyway. My then boss bought one of the first P6s in 1963, which I was allowed to drive sometimes, and I lusted after them for years until at last I bought my first one in 1985, followed by another a few years later. I'm no mechanic and could never have fully appreciated its technical details, but for driver and passenger comfort and performance no other car has ever come near my lovely P6s. I had an SD1 later and, whilst not a bad car, it was rubbish in comparison. Shame on British Leyland and the unions for buggering up such a great brand. I'm misty-eyed at the memories now!
