I'm 5 months late to the party, but if you are still reading comments I would love to hear how this analysis works when you factor in the scene where Amy tries to force herself on the Doctor. I feel like this directly goes against your reading of Amy's love for the doctor being something that does not get in the way of her love for Rory. If the answer is that Amy is poly I could totally get behind that (however would then put some very questionable representation and polticis of polyamory into Doctor Who as the show partially does push the idea that Amy has to choose ONE partner (in Angels Take Manhatten) even after a period of a polycule.). Amy's advances on the Doctor undeniably to me demonstrate that Rory's insecurities were NOT unfounded, and that Amy, in fact, had not made up her mind of who she would rather "be" with, even the night before her wedding. If the 11th doctor was not as Aro-Ace as he is presented, I wonder what could have ended up happening between them (ala Rose and 10 "cucking" Mickey). Also I do wish you had talked more about the (IMHO quite explicit) emotional and physical abuse Amy does to Rory throughout her time on the show, while I think some of this is fairly explained away as Amy being emotionally unaware, I think some of it crosses the line of what is definitively unacceptable and morally wrong (yes morality is psychology is a can of worms). However, I was very enlightened by your analysis of Rory as a character who was also toxic to begin with, just more in the way of weaponized incompetence, passivity, and immaturity that is often cultural accepted for men to fall into putting the emotional burden on women to pick up the slack. As an AMAB who watched these seasons as a teen I unfortunately never picked up on this and only ever saw Rory as the victim. Also I would be curious to know more about the Amy is autistic thing, because outside of her unawareness towards the minds of others and assuming that others just *know* how she feels (something I definitely have a habit of doing as an autist myself), I dont see anything more that would classify her as autistic. Im no expert but i think these traits are completely unintentional when it comes to connection to autism etc. In-universe The Doctor is a complex being tightly connected to the time vortex. He experiences time all at once from what i gathered from the scattered clues. Also most of the times he is more quirky shortly after regeneration from which comes learning to control and cope with entirely new body. Also he often comes as a child, i mean he stole a "car" and ran away from home to explore the world

Overall, Amy was one of my favorite companions while Rory was one of my least favorites. But for me, Rory got slowly better over time while Amy got worse. From a “queer theory” standpoint, I would say Amy was “bi”, she saw something attractive in the “normal” and also relished the bizarre.

Imo I believe notch had antisemitic ideas for the villiger atleast in design however never went beyond that and now villagers aren't just anti Semitic archetype npc but well villagers. I do not think Minecraft is antisemitic and it's best to forget thag element of the past of the games creator and enjoy what the game has become. See, my take is that Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi's Doctors completely understand social etiquette, they just choose to pretend they don't when they think it'll be funny. This mostly works. And it's basically how I live my life too :3

12 era writing seemed rife with attempting to tackle disability in general but being incredibly ablist too. Thinking of the Doctor going blind, and how that would have been more interesting to explore or at least have him do his thing for a few episodes with input from blind community. Instead he has to be miraculously cured to save the world, not after. Same with them having multiple important characters become cyberman but regain control of themselves, and decide that life is obviously not worth living in a different body. Although they at least had a comic relief character not chose that option so I guess it adds some diversity there

My older brother is autistic, and while I am not (that I know of) we both love watching doctor who and I can DEFINITELY see some of my brother in 12’s character.
