You got your inspiration from the Bible, no? [Matthew 6:19 KJV] Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: [Matthew 6:20 KJV] But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: [Matthew 6:21 KJV] For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. I was into collecting comics and cards into high school. But friends weren't. We went to watch movies and baseball games but they weren't into collecting as much as I was. And if there were people into collecting in high school they were thieves, people would want to take advantage of you as I was trying to sell off my extra cards, double from packs. This is where my friends and I went into different directions. I use to walk with my friend in one direction to the bus stop until I discovered there was a comic store in way the other direction of school. And my friend would get upset when I ditched him. Long story short when I turned to God and started reading the Bible I put all this aside. But eventually, gradually I went back into it. Ebay partly caused me to buy and sell cards online. Otherwise the only other reliable options would have been to sell them back to stores and conventions which would cost you money renting tables. But then my interest died out. Another thing about the entire Science Fiction is that we've been programed when we were kids to watching cartoons, collect toys and so on. And whether it would be cartoons or comics there is a progressive move to liberation. I was collecting Transformers comics from IDW and they introduced gay robots(!?!). I mean male and female robots weren't strange enough...Plus there is witchcraft and Kabbalah attached into the narratives as I came to realize. And there is an end time agenda to join man with technology as the entire Transformers and perhaps other toy lines like Ironman are promoting which will lead into the Revelation 13:18's mark of the beast (microchip? Luciferase?). Plus writers like Allan Moore from Batman's comic books claim to channel spirits for their inspiration.

To much of anything even something as innocent as collecting toys can be bad and unhealthy . If we ask God for guidance in our lives he will put everything in perspective correctly. Of course he wants us to put him first and then our family and other people friends and new acquaintances . But I will say with confidence that he cares about the small things in our lives even something as simple as collecting a vintage toy that reminds us of a special time. Seek him and he will guide you in everything even the small things .

Today I'm fed up with toys. Instead of collections, I think realistic and mature. you don't play it? why did you buy it? if it's just for display, just buy a display. You know, ultimately the reason you buy a toy in the first place is to play with it. and the term collector is just an illusion. because you won't play them all.

I am an artist and I make illustrations but I am no collector. I find being an artist is better than collecting because when you make a painting you feel proud of yourself that you made that. But I work with a guy who is obsessed with collecting figures and comic books etc. He is crazy and has no room for anything and keeps collecting and sometimes two of the same thing. He literally calls me a disgrace to collectors and I am like whatever. Im an artist and maker and if I want a specific thing I can make it. Being an artist is so much better than being a collector.

It’s a shame to hear your story and happy it has received so many views. Collecting should be a hobby that enriches your life. But I can imagine how fast it can become an addiction instead of a hobby. I wanted to collect MP transformers for a while, because they were finally making figures that looked like they came out of the cartoon and have complicated transformations. I finally found time during the pandemic. It has cost me a lot of money, but at 40-45 it was now or never and I can afford it. During my journey I did caught myself buying stuff I had no affinity with and overpaying for scalped figures. To keep the hobby controllable I decided not to overpay on top of the retail price and first ask myself if I feel emotion with a character. For me that’s the way to keep it fun for me. I don’t gamble anymore, don’t drink alcohol, smoke weed or other drugs now and I think it balances out any other “hobbies” For me collecting has given me inner peace to the frustrated child in me. That loved the toys, but couldn’t afford them at the time. I hope everybody finds that balance and not let your hobby become an addiction or become a priority instead of just plain fun. I still work hard, spend time with my family and feel more complete.

I re-opoened my youtube account which was closed for nearly 5 years, just to comment on your video. I was close multiple times to opening up a Comic book store because I had years of experience in working with media (real media like a News station) 20 years ago, and also working in retail management. When one day, I looked at one of my Marvel action figures thumbtacked to my wall and thought to myself, "Why do I like this?" Then I realized the truth about these items. 1). Someone came up with a story and made up a character, someone so cool, they were a god (lowercase "g") in their stories. 2). Someone designed the image of this fictional figure, making it a real life "hero" in their life of loneliness, confusion and worries about the world. (hence cosplay, massive collecting). 3). Someone would get paid to print the best image of this fictional non-breathing character and print it to a piece of cardboard. 4). Plastic would be holding the plastic figure inside. Then what... what do you do next? Will it take care of you, I thought? Will the toys bring real joy to my life? Would I be able to do this forever? When will "enough" be? 'Til I can't afford my storage unit(s) anymore? I came across a video on youtube that helped and I hope you'll watch it and help you, too Vimal. ruclips.net/video/c3KwDXoq29Q/видео.html

I think the memories we make and the people we meet in our collecting journy will stick with us forever, not the hundred or maybe thousand of things we collect. At the end of the day we like to collect, but when it takes over the biggest part of your time or life, maybe we have to wonder what the purpose of it is and if it truly makes us happy. A few months ago, I was starting to get interested in collecting figures. I was constantly watching videos about them and checking online shops for what they had in stock. The problem was that I was still very young and didn't make much money, so therefore I never really actually bought too many figures, but I was obsessed with the idea of having a collection. Then I realized the same thing mentioned in the video, which was that you can't take any of this with you when you die. After that I realized a few things... 1. I am in no financial state to be prioritizing toys 2. When I die, I will go to either Heven or Hell, Maybe Purgatory, and no matter where I am these toys can't come with me. 3. Material objects should come close to last on what's important in life.

I've been feeling this way about my art. Buying and collecting art supplies and trying to get better at it but lately I've been asking myself "why?". I mean, it takes time to do all of this. Yes, i can get better but what's the point of it all? To post it? Make a comic? A story? A game? What do I even want to say? Is it even a good message? Do i just want acknowledgement? And if so why isn't everybody else enough? To whom am i trying to reach out to? Does audience even matter? Shouldn't it matter? I'm not saying people who draw shouldn't be doing that but like you said, you can't take any of these things with you. My drawings. My worlds. My books. It's become unhealthy for me and I dont know how to make it healthy without giving it all up for GOD. It's become an idol almost. One I've sacrificed my life in time to. And for what? But thank you for sharing your story. Like another comment I read earlier said, go to GOD. Google "saint Augustine quotes" and begin that journey right now. He's a guy who did all kinds of...let's just say sins...who, in his 30s, turned to GOD and decided to change his life. I think he even had a kid from an adulterous relationship but don't quote me on that. Point is, he did bad stuff and the church now celebrates him as a saint! Meaning he is a model for us to look up to. That's crazy to me but, I mean, if he can do it then why not me, right? I'm still breathing so why not. It's never too late so long as you have GOD's breath in your lungs. That's his mercy. Here's some of my favorite quotes from him by the way (some that still give me strength as someone who still falls to many sins): "There is no sinner without a future. And there is no saint without a past." "Lord, my heart is restless until it rests in you" So beautiful. Do know that the battle goes on my dudes. "Accepting" is literally step one and there's a whole ladder you gotta climb! Pray for me brothers. I'll be praying for you as well. Prayer is powerful. Just read Exodus 18 verses 16 to 33. Great example there.

It's common to people stop collecting or getting " addicted" and realizing it. It's also normal to sell stuffs, and buy again... so long story short this process you're being through is really normal. I collect cars, gunpla l, statues and my "advantage" is been relatively poor and living in developing country. This make really hard and expensive to get this stuff... so, I can't have thousands of toys, I can't turn my life 200% in to collecting stuff. But, to realize this was actually a good thing took me a while. It's alway a process, you fix some things in you're life so you don't need this " obsession" to fill these gaps. Now you will probably take slow, maybe keep one thing or another a will have a better collecting life. Wen its about collecting, less is more. Always

We are all going to eventually die anyway but let me die a man with interesting stuff in his room/house. I have been buying way more selectively though. But still buying. Fuck it. As someone that had multiple roommates that collected toys, my best advice is to collect only vintage figures, during your actual childhood. The toy industry will always find a way to make their figures obsolete. Whether better sculpting, coloring, accuracy, etc. it will never end. That’s by design. A lifetime subscription, a lifetime season pass, a wallet that can be drained monthly. Just collect toys you never could own or afford as a child. You will be happier and have an actual goal and endgame. Otherwise, you will become a slave to your own hobby.

I’ve always collected a few but after those losses in quick succession I began to over buy. Now I have thousands of them. I’ve spent outrageous amounts of time organizing them in containers and labeling them in my garage. It’s overwhelming and expensive. It’s a form of comfort food for me. Hot wheels represent a happier joyful time but it is as you described, an addiction at this point and is taking away from other important parts of my life.
