AZ Desert Critters
США
Добавлен 10 ноя 2021
Coyotes, javelina, bobcats, cottontail rabbits, round tail ground squirrels, hawks, roadrunners, gambel’s quail and other native birds most all photographed or recorded on trail cameras on the other side of our wall.
Raccoon checking on the bird seed
For many people raccoons are common, while here in the desert area where I live I've only recorded raccoons three other times. It's a surprise to see them.

Owl chases Kangaroo Rat

Kangaroo Rat takes a big leap to escape the clutches of this small owl. I believe this is a Western Screech Owl.
Could a hawk have scared the birds?

Couldn't see a hawk in the video as I've seen other times when the birds scatter, but that's my guess.
Coyotes don’t care about quail and squirrel survives
Просмотров 3549 часов назад
The Gambel's Quail seem wary of the coyotes, but I always see the coyotes don't pay much attention. Near the end of the video, a coyote has it's muzzle in a squirrel hole and out of another hole out runs the Harris's Antelope squirrel and it appears to have not been caught.
American Badger night wanderer
Просмотров 404День назад
In one of the clips, the badger caught something. When viewed on a larger screen I think it's a lizard. Long thin tail and thin body, but didn't expect a lizard to be running around at night. Thought it could be little desert mouse or kangaroo rat, but their bodies don't seem to match what the badger has.
What is the coyote carrying? Episode 14

I said the following on episode 12 and was wrong, but more sure that on this episode it is easy to decide what the coyote is carrying.

Coyote with missing toes following a badger
Просмотров 761Месяц назад
I've seen this before of a coyote following a badger. This coyote has something wrong with its rear left foot. At first I thought the foot was missing, but maybe just the toes? What do you think? There is a clip where the video is paused for second look at its foot at the water dish. Edit: after further review it looks like the bottom section of its leg below the joint is missing. It does look ...
Hawk chases dove, dove hits window, dove died but where was the dove?
Просмотров 253Месяц назад
A hawk chasing a dove had a strange part to it. My wife was in the bedroom on the treadmill and heard a loud bang against the window (shades down). I went out to check for a dead bird and there were more feathers than I’ve ever seen on the ground from a bird strike, but no bird. As I was cleaning up, I saw feathers on the patio and there was the dead dove near the sliding door. Also while clean...
Coyotes quietly greet and then the yellin' and hollerin' starts

There are 6 coyotes as the return from nightly travels and meet up. It starts quietly with some tail wagging and little noises and then the party gets wild, but no police were called.
Standing a foot away from the buzz of hummingbirds

This was the first time I did this. Stood next to the feeder and then the birds started coming and playing chase. Could hear the noise of their fast beating wings so close to me. A few times I think I could actually hear the sound of them banging into each other.

This time I have a wild guess but I'm basically stumped. It will be interesting if others guess what I'm thinking it could be.

Multiple javelina lay down in the water dish
This is exactly what I heard last nite, and also once last week. Sounded like the were only 50 feet away but suddenly it stopped. What an eerie sound!!
Really cool video of desert life. I guess they weren't in the mood for quail that day .The first 3 coyotes, #1 being darker and bigger than #2 and #3 look like the ones that passed by my ponds ten days ago (Video to be posted shortly).
@@DesertCrittersOfArizona I pulled the cards yesterday and it looks like this group comes here often. Currently it’s been usually 4 of them together and a couple times 5 and maybe 6. I don’t do well at trying to identify them. Also, that one with the missing foot has come by a couple times in the last month or two, but rare. I’ve got so much coyote video and javelina video I’ve never gotten to and I feel like there is one recording with the missing foot coyote with some other coyotes.
Very interesting. They must not have been hungry. Cool video.
@@kayenta463 Ignore quail but love squirrels.
They want wabbits.
Too many feathers, but the quail are getting plump.
I work out in Blairstown NJ and we will hear coyote packs from time to time and this is exactly how they sound. We have great fun watching the city people practically s--- themselves when they hear this! Great fun!
It can sound pretty wild. Sometimes they sound like they are just outside the window, but the sound carries and they are often 50-70 yards away.
@azdesertcritters I love the sound-so wild, untamed and free!
I live near an airport on the edge of town and I often hear coyote packs doing this right after evening planes take off
In coyote speak “da plane, da plane”
Precious, and the tail wags! ❤️
@@rachelgambrell6926 They are happy to see each other.
Wow, interesting watching some of the dynamics of this pack... Thank you 🙌
@@mmalandsbirdies4012 In the beginning I was only getting them off camera making their noises and over time I’ve gotten multiple recordings of their meet up and greetings and others where they are chasing and wrestling just like domestic dogs.
I've only seen three in the wild. Pretty animals. But don't try to pet them.😂
Is that a special badger trail that you built?
@@lizlemon9632 I call it our moat. Rain water feeds into it and makes its way out and away from us. Was supposed to feed to next door neighbors moat and then down into the wash, but ends up making a small pool as it leaves us.
Nice cameo!
At my grandparent's house when I go over to spend the weekend, I usually hear a coyote pack that sounds like 3-5 invdiduals. I usually hear them from around 9:30-11:30 pm. Pretty much every 3rd or 4th weekend I spend there I hear them. So cool. Though we haven't seen them yet, even though we once went driving on the road that went exactly towards the place we always heard the howls coming from.
Thats the time window I usually hear them also. As I’m typing this I am hearing them now. It was a short one. They also have done this early evening and morning when it is light.
@@azdesertcritters Nice. Hearing a coyote pack is just so special to me.
@ I didn’t check what time it was, but they woke me up some time after midnight today, so not special to me at this particular time. 😂

@@bottomdweller5 I agree.
Do they always run in packs? Or is that the wolves?
@@lorraineb.4698 sometimes they are alone and other times I see up to 6. But I know they will split up often in pairs. It varies.

I heard this while walking at 6am in my neighborhood. Checked ring neighbors and lo and behold there's a watch out for Coyotes.

we hear them at night in the woods outside our house in upstate New York - usually scares the crap out of me cuz they sound like the souls of the damned. it IS cute to see this though..
@@skwoods7986 Now you know they are happy critters enjoying each other’s company after being apart during the day.
Camping with my dad on a peice of land he owns and last night I head something just like this lol
I here them like this in Southern Indiana sometimes. I thought they were celebrating a kill or calling everybody to dinner. Who knew they were just romping around
@@chrisalvey5993 Many people have thought they were yelling over a kill, but as you saw this is when they do when the return from their hours out hunting and meet up. From my recordings I see single coyotes, but often it is two or three together. They might split up later but the know where to return to for their time to greet and get wild.
So cute^^
goofy goobers
@@es-uw8cm They are.
Annoying
I heard this just now it’s midnight and if it weren’t for my friend sending me this i would have stayed up until morning horrified thinking i had just heard someone have their skin slowly peeled off
That’s where the skin walkers come from. 😂 Tonight I was outside and down in the wash one was calling out to the others “here I am, where are you”, for 10 or 15 minutes with no reply. I was expecting the rest of the pack to get there and all the yelling to start, but it didn’t. Coyote was probably out of view of the camera.
I'm gonna guess about 742 😂
You could be pretty close. Like guessing jelly beans in a jar.
OMG!!! How cute and noisy!!!
They are very chatty.
Thank you por ofrecernos tus Vídeos.🌲🌳🪴🏞️💧🌧️
I live next to a golf course in the middle of suburbs and am lucky to get to hear this quite often. I love it!
They are everywhere.
Looks like so much fun! What brand/model camera do you use? The picture quality is great.
@@TinaHikesColorado This is a Browning Recon Force Elite HP4. No longer sold at Browning, but could be found possibly sold other places. The replacement is the HP5, which has good night quality and its a wider angle. If the camera is recording during the day and the ground is very bright it over exposes so that highlights can’t be recovered.

@@DesertCrittersOfArizona Wow as well. That one looks like it’s getting around better than the one I recorded and that one has friends. My recording was about 2 weeks ago. I just pulled my cards this morning for this past weeks recording. Wonder if I will see this coyote again. So far had not noticed it with the pack. I wonder how well it can catch some food or will it have to go vegan.
Wow. Looked to me like the whole area where the pads are SUPPOSED to be is gone. He was resting the "foot" on the area further back. Poor thing 😢 Could have been from anything from a trap to another animal.

Too many people moved in to our area and now we don't any. They used to roost in our tree just outside the front porch. 😪
Cotton Tails are always fun to watch.
I agree.
Bummer, poor guy.
Yes, sad. He is getting along, but could be hard for this coyote to catch a meal.
We had a cute little family come visit the feeder in the afternoon. Parents and about 8 babies. I wondered where they went!! 😅
If you hadn't seen them before they may come back. I'm pretty sure if they like what they found they would return.

@@brokenandcraked Here kitty kitty come in the house. Yes, we hear the things that want to eat us.
Great video and editing, with the graphics and subtitles. Thank you!
Thank you. Took me awhile to put that together. Didn’t realize when this was all happening that the hawk kept going to the fence as well as right down onto the grass and that low pass. I was focused on feather cleanup.
We've had some dove bang the window (and die) and we're pretty sure it was bc of a hawk chase (can't prove it) and the hawk never comes to get it. Too close to the house maybe?

WOW they are healthy!

PERFECT !
I heard his last night near me but when I went outside only saw the one. I have read they act like this in packs or when they are to call another for protection or something. Very interesting animals
@@jdsun1 The others could be close by and might have grouped up very soon. I have one or two videos where a lone coyote is on camera and barking and I think making another sound and you can hear the reply in the background. Could be their communication process to meet up and find each other, though I don’t hear this particular sound often.
