Monkees Breaking the Fourth Wall (UPDATED)
(A few months ago I posted another version of this video, but left out a handful instances inadvertently. Here's a revamped edition.)
Instances in which the Monkees break the fourth wall. I only included situations in which the Monkees were in character, or occurs within a scene in which they’re in character. Things like interviews, screen tests, the Monkees and their guests, the crew coming on stage, The Monkees on Tour, The Paris Show, etc., etc., didn’t make the compilation. I also didn’t include every single time they looked at the camera, but instead instances when the fact that they’re on a television show or situations that occur to them as actors are referenced; there were enough....

Check out my page for an updated version of the video with some clips I missed this time around! Instances in which the Monkees break the fourth wall. I only included situations in which the Monkees were in character, or occurs within a scene in which they’re in character. Things like interviews, screen tests, the Monkees and their guests, the crew coming on stage, The Monkees on Tour, The Pari...
the writers, haha
They did it, every episode.
Thank you for posting. My favorite gag's when they scare each other.
Second season should have been much like the first. They should have done one or two more seasons. Can you imagine if instead of 50 shows you had 100? Longer reruns!
Mickey says that it was like a Hard Days Night. No. Inspired by it, but not like it. There wasn’t anything like this show. It was funny, crazy, sort of mocked itself and films and TV for the youth at that time.
I like the dummy.
In the 90s they were in a dinar in Hollywood, all four. It was the only time that they got testi. Other than that they were great to fans. They were there to discuss business. The people were going nuts. The guys didn’t expect this at all. Not at all. They tried to get the people to be quiet. Man, it just didn’t happen. Davy had a temper. He got a little loud. This was the only time that they ever were this way. They always were loving to fans.
That first season was funny and off the wall funny! The songs were nice. These guys were likable.
I loved Micky referencing the theme to "Circus Boy" (his first TV show when he was a little kid).
So cute in their leather jackets ❤❤❤❤
4:55 MIKE NESMITH: Let's decide this democratically, all right? PETER TORK: We'll choose fingers. MIKE NESMITH: Yes. I choose that one. _(sticks one finger up while everyone else prepares for a session of rock paper scissors)_ *_OOH, I WON!!!_*
My favourite Davy Jones quote: "You must be joking!" FUN FACT: If you were only to hear my Davy Jones impression you can hear the similarities between the original and the impression. He _is_ a British lad from Manchester after all.
That poor 4th wall never stood a chance.
Lol nice
Oop
dont save the world that is what my sister said
sorry I cant help it we had cousins too and all the birds and oh the zoo and thanks when we sleep in a car and then I say can you see some that listen to their phoney yup ask mr. Woodmans
Mickey singing the theme from 'Circus Boy' where he played Corky as a kid.
I absolutely remember how funny I found this whole premise, probably 10 yrs old.
This is fantastic! I haven't stopped laughing! ❤
David Thomas Jones is one of my favorite person who is a member of the Monkees and all of the songs he has sing while he was with the Monkees he's melted my heart ❤️ the way he sang and danced but since his death I missed him a lot because even though he's gone I will always love him.RIP DavyJones and Peter Tork and Michael Nesmith may God be blessed the three of you 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🕺❤️❤️❤️🐶😇🐱 and 😇😇🐴
The Monkee scare is the best
Ironic that the thumbnail photo shows Mike, Peter and David horizontal and Mickey still upright.
In Binary Stereo.
2:09
I remember when Bugs Bunny used to say about Cecil the tortoise, "Oops, wrong story." Even Davy Jones played double in 2 episodes. Just like Bob Denver, Tina Louise, Jim Backus, and Allan Hale Jr. did in Gilligan's Island. The public spectacles of today just don't make family-friendly programming like they used to anymore. I also should've realized that Phyllis was Robert Michael Nesmith's 2nd wife. In the Monkees comedy series, no character has ever shown a gun and a badge. That's what police detectives do traditionally.
60’s Marx Brothers!
7:14 Pat Paulsen
they are 😂
That's so funny cause I wonder if they're gonna use him saying. Leonard nemo becoming a vulcan and sure enough. I always thought Mickey over acted But he is definitely robotic when it comes to interviews..
How do I get back to my FaceBook
I thought they were a real band when I was a kid. It turns out, they were.

Enough gags in this show already.
lol

I also didn't tell you that the Bravestarr Dark Child/Zardeth uses telepathy to communicate with his disciples in the Bravestarr comic book series.
Love the clips. These are not just breaking the fourth wall (i.e. addressing the viewer directly); there are also a lot of inside jokes and showbiz references made briefly for a laugh. References to Don Kirschner and other things, well, you either get 'em or you don't. Very enjoyable compilation.
Exelente exelente ❤❤❤
They missed one, when Micky sees old clips of the Monkees he goes into an actor's cry and says, "I looked so young!".
How about these moments: 1. Davy looking at the camera and saying: '"Now I know why there was so much noise at our house. It was my sisters learning how to walk."' 2. The guys saying the episode wrapped up again and this has been Davy, Micky, Peter, and Michael. *(The fairy tale episode)*
SO FUNNY and what eye candy! :)
I love ❤️ watching The Monkeys TV Shows Ever sis I was A Kid.
i remember seeing re runs of the monkees on tv on much music in Canada
i havent seen anyone talk about it but i love when davy goes to check whos at the door but hes too short so he just opens the little window thing and stares at the door
I noticed that in an episode last night! That’s funny. I’ll look out for it as a running gag lol
@@kait.5437 i think it only happens 2 or 3 times
@@damopetey yeah I think I’ve seen it at least twice but I haven’t watched every episode
😂😂 I love that gag.
Only one I can think of that's missing are the freeze frame text gags.
And Davy going "Ooo"!
@@PlumbPitiful That ones a staple. The freeze frame text I think kinda disappears doesn't it? Maybe only a season 1 thing.
Sing swanee rivet out in the city in this time or you will get punched in the face by someone and you will be yelled at.
I live near Philly, so probably shot.
Mickey playing the pig always gets me. I’ve done that with a pound of bacon or pork chops. Cracks my husband up every time
No sound
I wasn’t born when the Monkees were on British tv but this is a delight to watch.. they had brilliant comic timing! My Dad knew Davy Jones from school in Manchester he used to pop round to his Mum’s for tea!
your dad was lucky
My first introduction to vaudeville, before I even knew what vaudeville even was.
