JT Prospecting
США
Добавлен 3 янв 2024
Josh Bohmker and Tom Boykin have been prospecting for gold and adventure together since 2016. In 2024 we decided to start documenting our outings and some of the techniques we've learned along the way. There are plenty of YT channels on detecting for gold, panning, dredging, and prospecting, but very few show actual techniques and capture the true experience of searching for gold.

300 Miles to Gold ($$$) Metal Detecting and Prospecting for Nuggets - D1
Tom took a few days off to go gold prospecting in Eastern Oregon. Let's see if he can apply the techniques he's learned in Southern Oregon and find some nuggets with his metal detector. A modern day treasure hunt in Gold Rush country.

This trip finds Josh and Tom on some dry diggings in Southern Oregon in the search for gold nuggets. Sometimes, you find some interesting "treasure" with your metal detector, but you always come home with great memories. #metaldetecting #goldmining #prospecting #goldrush #pnw #backyardgold #minelab #blacklab #mansbestfreind

California?
Oregon
My Great Grandfather owned a construction company that paved many eastern Oregon roads for the first time. My grandfather worked with him in the early 50s. He used to say that some of the roads they paved, they paved with gold. Sumpter down to Unity'ish.
There are some great stories of prospectors finding gold in the middle of logging roads.
Nice going! Josh would be proud of you. Nice reading of the signs in the land! Don't forget that lost signal back on the hill!
Stay tuned
Thank you! Enjoyed that very much and cant wait for the next installment!
Appreciate it, should be out on Sunday.
That's how to get it done indeed fam. What a blast. Keep on having fun getting that Au and living the dream. Gold Squad Out 🤠
Gold squad 4 lyfe!
Thank u
No problem
Congrats on incredible finds. I started golding this year and have had three trips to Eastern Oregon, specifically the Blue Mountains and Wallowa Mountains. I have researched and mapped more spots that I can visit anytime soon, lol. I wouldn't mind the company of seasoned prospectors, though.
Sounds like fun
Awesome thanks
You bet!
Love the Kia! Good stuff
Great video! I wish I'd found this a long time ago. I have used onX up until now, but the extra layers on Gaia are definitely worth the cost! I spent hours downloading data and uploading layers, when it was already built in here. Thanks!
Thanks for the video and for not digging on the claim. Get the kids started early. I got my son started at age 5, and at age 25 he is still at it.
He lo bạn ❤❤❤❤
Nice outing and at least you are narrowing the area down to some AU for next time! Thanks for taking us along.
We'll have to go rockhound sometime
Great video. Gotta love Southern Oregon ❤.
Great video 📹 👍
Scoria?
That works
Bro you should have kept it
Look above whiskey creek.....
Have you ever found josepnenite? I worked in a plywood mill in grants Pass and got to know a old guy that worked there to he had a claim on Fiedler creek we got to talking about mining and he was telling me about the gold he found and asked if I ever heard of josephenite I said no so the next day he bought in a old coffee over half full of these what I thought were platinum nuggets. He said no that it was josephenite. Must have been at least 4to5 pounds. He showed me some really nice gold nuggets the biggest one was over 2ozs
I have a whites gmt. Id like to be friends and learn from you. Is that josephine creek?
Good video, guys. You should seriously consider doing the SF of Canyon. Amazing place with large gold.
She was far less enthused than you were. Lol
Id like to go out with you so i can learn and get the big picture of what the landscape looks like and how to interperet things. So i can apply the same techniques on my claim
Great video!
Thanks!
Id like to go! That way ill know how to work my claim i just acquired
Oh Josh keeping us in suspense! Nice video!!!!! waiting for that flash of yellow! 🤪
Lots of mineralization.... any history of free milling gold? I'd be crushing a bunch of that material in the early part of the video, could just be sulfide rich though... worthy of an assay
Ditto.
Looks like an old burn pit
Major forest fire, actually. There's 160,000+ acres that look just like it from the fire that burned there. Like a small ocean of charcoal and burnt trees for as far as you can see.
There's still some rippa sunbakers to be found out there mate, 🍻👍
Thanks for sharing
I have a whites gmt. Id love to learn so that i can apply it to my claim. Can I go?
I would like to be there in person so i can see what the hillside looks like overall. And learn how to recognize the tailings from gravels. And recognize gravels that they never washed off.
Josh and Tom you guys deserve way more subs, you guys should invite Jeff Williams and do the Briggs pocket
Looked like a great little adventure.
I know RIGHT where you're at. The gold is there, but it seems pretty finely disseminated based on past field mortar samples.
100 % real prospecting. ❤
Good stuff, getting deep in the woods...Does the charcoal from the burn give you false signals with you detector? Many times I've had charcoal sound off much like gold with my detector. Thanks for any feedback.
once i switched to minelab detectors, i haven't had that issue happen like it did.
Thanks for the very informative video! I live in Northern Utah and am just getting into prospecting. I’ve wanted to my whole life, but finally just got some equipment. I also just bought me a Minelab GPX 5000 and now I want to research areas in Nevada, Idaho, Utah, and Arizona. I know using a metal detector can find good gold - if you are in a good spot - so that’s what I’m trying to figure out! I look forward to you future videos!
I purchased 20 Acres on Beaver Creek just before the town of Klamath River if you're interested in coming over and taking a look contact me.
Good vid, love listening to my 6000 hum.
Thanks for bringing us along. 👍🏻
How do I pay or get permission to work on those Althouse claims?
That's a great nugget! Way to go you guys! I make jewelry. That would be a great nugget to give to a grandkid on a silver bar a heart or whatever. Look up a Change you can wear in McMinnville and he can turn that into a piece of jewelry for you! Rock on you guys! and doggie!
Great video. Really enjoy watching. Thanks
I like your theories, but if it was true, you’d be able to stick your shovel in the dirt and recover gold from anywhere I don’t think anyone was moving that much ground unless it was worth it
You can tell that black lab has terrible gold fever and is not to be trusted
