I appreciate your videos so much!!! I start ABSN nursing program in January! I’m so humbly grateful to have another degree and take on new experiences as a future registered nurse. I also sent my oldest sister a video of yours! My sister is currently 30 years old and has one child. Again I believe that she was discouraged and thus me sending your video has encouraged and catapulted her! She is currently working as an LPN! I think she is working on her ADN to become a RN. My ex lied, said he was single, lived with a fiancé he lied & said he moved out because he knew I never would date him if I knew. I tried to warn her bc he’s a serial cheater, pathological liar, thief, etc. Her family & her believed his lies, I was trying to protect her and told them what he is, a covert malignant narcissist. He tried to marry her on my birthday, off by only a few days. I hate seeing this sleaze hurt women, I pray she is more observant with me having tipped her & her family off, I feel she’s in danger. He tried to get me fired warning her brother too bc he came at him back then and put me and my job at risk so I figured they’re sadly going to have to learn. He’s a really bad man. Do you think she’ll eventually notice?

I do think it's important to fit into the culture you are in. If everyone calls each other by first name and not title, it does make you look difficult to demand thst. It's not always about race. It's not your institution. You are a guest there and don't get to make the rules. That exist in the black community as well.

What about PMHNP since it’s very specific. I never wanted to be a nurse. The only way I can work in psychiatry not being an MD or DO is the NP or PA route. That’s all I want to work the rest of my life. Most DNP programs in Texas require a year of BSN in psychiatric care.

Story of my life for 14 years. An example, I am also a nurse educator and people are so mad that I am black and hold an MSN/Ed, RN. My coworkers including the prior DON before she left talked me up for a promotion to move into her role with the administration, I applied, and nothing. Mind you, I was the only internal candidate to apply for the DON role. They are still searching this very day for a DON outside of the company. Also, it is them wanting me to be the ADON and not the DON. I am sure it is because they want me to train whomever they hire as DON. I applied for the DON position, made it through 2 rounds of interviews and do you know they provided no feedback to the leadership about me but provided feedback on another candidate that was a no. I rescinded my application. I am currently sub status. Prior to the previous DON leaving, she advised them to move me into the DON role as interim DON. Do you know they asked a white male who doesn't have appropriate classroom mgt skills? I got a new job working remote making $20, 000 more to develop a program. I have finally made it to a six figure income. Although I love teaching and I want the students to be successful, I will not miss working full time busting my butt in that place. The amount of foolishness I have out up with since I have been nursing while Black has been crazy. The stories or extensive! Some of them are big MAD!

I love this video, it’s very informative!! I’m a nursing student about to graduate and I’ve been thinking of going into maternity. I had my clinical rotation and loved it but this video made me think broader and realize more! 😊

I find the direct entry MSN option interesting. Once you achieve this level, you are considered a MASTER of the practice of nursing. Therefore it should not be ones INTRODUCTION to nursing. There's no way you can be a novice and a master at the same time. Personally, I can't respect it. It waters it down for experienced nurses who have through education PLUS experience earned it. Just my $0.02.

I wish I would have seen this video 26 years ago. I went to college with dreams of pursuing pre med to become a dentist. However I failed biology and then got it in my mind that if I could not pass biology then I could not pass harder science courses and I completed a Bachelor of SW in 2001 to now circle back to nursing. Thank you for your openness and push to keep going no matter what ❤
