    I'm a little confused dont you have to be straight through triple extension?

    • @TestifySC
      @TestifySC 50 минут назад

      I'm not quite sure about the meaning of your question, but every clean (squat, power, or hang) will involve extension of the hips, knees, and ankles (i.e., triple extension, as you mentioned) before receiving the bar on the shoulders. With that said, this video is not discussing that aspect of the lift, but is rather dedicated to helping people understand the difference between a clean (i.e., squat clean or full clean), power clean, and hang clean.

    Good list and thank you for sharing. I agree with almost everything except the 2" x 3" Racks Vs the 3" x 3" Racks. Reason why I disagree, even though you have a fair point with space, is because most Big Companies are putting (WAY) more attachments towards 3" x 3" with 1" hole spacing racks and are phasing out 2" x 3" Racks. Rather we like it or not that is the way the big companies are heading. It is a better investment long term to go with a 3" x 3" with 1" hole spacing Racks. The numbers do not lie and that is currently the way the wind is blowing in the home gym fitness industry. I hope I explained that well as I have no bias or axe to grind. Thank you again for the information.

    plus bcs the conversion is 2.2-lb/kg that makes em R55, B44, T33, G22, W11 and r5.5, b4.4, y3.3, g2.2, w1.1 and all you need to convert kg to lbs is DOUBLE then add 10%

    Lifts in my socks. Ha

    • @TestifySC
      @TestifySC День назад

      We didn't cover it in this video, but for the deadlift, we recommend long socks (preferably almost to the knee) as they decrease the chance of scraping the shins with the barbell and thus bleeding (which is why such socks are required for USAPL and strengthlifting meets). In addition, because it's harder to nick the shins (or re-open a scab that formed after a previous session) with long socks, most people do a better job keeping the bar close to the shins when deadlifting.

    Interesting. I had never thought about the moisture wicking shirt being slick but it makes sense.

    • @TestifySC
      @TestifySC 2 дня назад

      Yep, they're terrible. That said, I think the A7 "bench shirts" and other shirts like that are moisture wicking, but they have a special grip section on the upper back for squat and bench purposes, and that section has a lot of grip, so if you're willing to shell out the cash, there are exceptions to the "cotton only" principle.

    Finally someone that doesn’t push 3x3 racks. I’ve had a Rogue R3 for a long time and it’s more than enough. Like you said easier for everyone in my family to rack and unpack on and more than strong enough. Only downside is the market only makes things for 3x3. So I save money by not buying new attachments I guess 😂

    • @TestifySC
      @TestifySC 2 дня назад

      I once spoke to Rogue on the phone regarding the strength of the R3, and they said the uprights are each rated for 10,000 lb. They noted that the weakest points are the j-hooks . . . which are rated for 1,000 lb/hook, so I think we're in good shape :-)

    Great advice. Some of us wear a mouthguard to protect our teeth on heavy lifts. If you're like me, you grit and bite very hard when you're maxing out (or just doing volume at a relatively high intensity). Some people bite their tongue or put a necklace or dog tag in their mouth. The latest innovation I've seen cones from Airwaav. The mouthpiece is designed for lifting. It gives you something to safely bite on without being too bulky or interfering with breathing/Valsava. Any cheap mouthguard (think: kids soccer) will do but the Airwaav is like champagne.

    • @TestifySC
      @TestifySC 4 дня назад

      Thanks, and absolutely, a mouthguard can be very useful for those who clamp down real hard with their teeth when training . . . might be a topic for a future video! I didn't know about the Airwaav, but I'll have to ask around at the gym - we have a few members who use a mouthguard.

    Would it be safe If I leave clips off of the bench press, so that if I fail I can just slide the weights off each side? I don't have access to a squat rack like that atm

    • @TestifySC
      @TestifySC 8 дней назад

      Good question. It will be safer without the clips than with the clips (and we always bench without clips at Testify as a back-up safety feature) in the sense that, if you're benching without a spotter, you fail a rep, and the bar ends up back on your chest, you can do exactly what you described - tip the bar to one side, the plates slide off, tip the bar to the other side (which it will do anyway once one side is unloaded), the plates slide off again, and you're safe. It's loud and potentially embarrassing (and hopefully nobody is standing where the plates will land), but you're alive, which is key. However, the most dangerous part of the bench press is when the bar is positioned over your neck or face, i.e., the unrack at the beginning of a set, the rerack at the end of a set, or on a rep where you accidentally push the bar too far back. It's dangerous for two reasons - 1) if a bar ends up on your face or neck, it could do serious damage and actually kill you, and 2) you're in a mechanically disadvantaged position since the bar isn't directly over your shoulders. The absence of clips doesn't help this situation much if at all. It's true that you might still be able to dump the bar, but the loaded bar will have already landed on your face and/or neck, and it's highly likely the damage will already have been done. For this reason, if you don't have a rack that can be set with safeties when benching, then I'd strongly recommend getting a spotter. Even with safeties, spotters are very handy for unracks and reracks. Long response, but I hope it was useful.

    So we're going to need 4 of those stall mats?

    • @TestifySC
      @TestifySC 10 дней назад

      Just 3 mats, and if you like, you can do it using only 2 mats with a slight design modification. Mat #1 provides one 6' x 27" section, mat #2 provides another 6' x 27" section, and mat #3 provides both 2' x 27" sections. To do it using only 2 mats, you'll have four 12" x 27" sections (i.e., 1' x 27") instead of two 24" x 27" sections. In this case, you can get these sections from what's left over on mat #1 and mat #2. We have one platform like this, and in this case, we centered the 6' sections from front to back, thus allowing us to put a 1' section at the front and another 1' section at the back on each side of the wood section. Hope this helps!

    I think the use of the hips actually translates pretty well to a high bar squat as well. Too many people try to do it "perfectly upright" and end up having a wobbly inconsistent back angle. Thinking about purposefully inclining over a little bit while keeping a strong rigid back will do wonders there too.

    • @TestifySC
      @TestifySC 10 дней назад

      Yep, you're right. The back angle won't be as horizontal as in a low bar squat, but hip drive is still a useful concept. We have several lifters at Testify who can't use the low bar position due to a previous shoulder injury, lack of flexibility, etc., and they don't lean over as much, but there is always a certain amount of "lean."

      Hmm… that’s interesting. I just double-checked the audio by listening to it on my phone, and I have my phone’s volume only halfway turned up, and I would not want to play it any louder than that. If, by chance, you are listening to this on your computer, then you might want to take a look at the RUclips volume control (it’s in the bottom left of the RUclips player). As this is a separate volume control from your computer’s volume control, if it is set low, that could explain it.
