Hello. Revisiting some of your old podcast and I have a question. If the show said Ezra had mental issues like Cece and Mona, would both have forgiven him? Just curious 🧐

Such a shame it got cancelled. It’s kind of sad that PLL is over.

I’m glad you guys are starting to enjoy this a bit and I think that trend will continue! I wanted to mention a couple things: - You guys mentioned that the janitor was just in the wrong place at the wrong time but he also was sort of creeping on Faran before that. It was really quick and easy to forget but it does further play into the theme of creepy/terrible men in this show. - As far as prior friendships go, it’s not explicitly stated but I always assumed that Imogen was with Karen, Tabby was with Chip, Faran was with the ballet girls (not including Karen or Kelly), Noa was with the track team (probably prior to juvie, and I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume that only Shawn stuck with her through that), and Mouse (our software-slaying techno girl toy) was sort of isolated due to her overprotective parents and the fact that she’s a year younger than the rest of the girls. - Yes I think it’s fair to take the “transphobic” line as a dig at the original show. This show tries to correct a lot of the original show’s mistakes and seems far more receptive to audience perception. It does fall into some of the same pitfalls as the original show in some ways, but it generally tries to be better. - Tabby’s references absolutely drove me nuts too and I promise it gets way better. What I do think is fun though is that the show itself has lots of references mainly to horror (such as Faran’s mom working at Strode, Prescott, and Ripley Associates which references to the last names of the final girls in Halloween, Scream, and Alien) but also to non-horror influences (such as Madame Giry from Phantom of the Opera). To Emily’s point of none of the little liars having friend groups previously, I also think it’s sort of unrealistic how fast they all became besties without having any foundation like the original liars did. Also Mouse and family’s plot line is one of the most bizarre and uncomfortable I’ve seen on tv. Enjoy your time off the pod!

I grew to like the characters of this show, some more than others, but the plot is kinda wtf lol. The finale is really exciting so you can look forward to that! My personal ranking would be PLL, Perfectionists, OS, Ravenswood.

I realized when rewatching the perfectionists that there was also a character in that show named Angela who jumped to her death but I believe it was from the bridge Taylor was supposedly seen jumping from and I think she had a different last name (the girl Ray Hogadorn was in love with)

Things that were never explained: The cameras in the mirrors The staff of people who were apparently watching the cameras and the person who responded to Mona The whisper that repeated “it’s just like you imagined it” when they were at the candlelight vigil for Nolan The person in the pig mask Why Ray had all the newspaper clippings up of Taylor and Nolan Who was Ali’s original professor that she TA’d for all semester Who hit Caitlin with a car Did Dylan know that Nolan took a selfie of them How did Nolan get a picture of Caitlin’s mom What was Taylor’s problem Who tried to kill Taylor Doesn’t Mona say Taylor was the town’s only suicide but then Ray said Angela also committed How was Taylor able to fake her death

I’ve actually really enjoyed the show. I wish it got renewed so we weren’t left with disappointment about the ending but I like to think that if it had been renewed, most of your complaints would have been addressed in the next season.

Ali thinking Taylor’s mom wouldn’t hurt her is so weird. If someone said that to her back in the day she would be like I’m not so sure, I can’t take the risk. Besides, Claire is a freak lol.

Brenton is so correct in having man getting heart pulled out of his chest, small sidekick character, and blonde woman screaming as the key elements of Temple of Doom 💀 Those (and it by far being the most racist one) are how I think of that film lol

I have NO recollection of the Toby being high / Lorenzo and the gang getting pelted with balls scene and now I want to go back and rewatch 😭

This show had the budget! Not the Lost whisper tease with “it’s exactly how you imagined it.” (Brenton will understand.) I’ve never seen Riverdale or any of those other shows so I’m down to watch those!

around 56 minutes into this podcast during Brenton’s description he mentions that in the book “spencer” gave toby, he notices that it isn’t marked up, so that would explain why he uses that as a question to figure out which one is real i think! (referring to one of the things that Emily was upset with at the beginning)

A lot of people feel similarly about Hanna as Brenton does, that they ruined her character, made her whiny/annoying. I’m a Hanna/Caleb/Haleb apologist so they could never make me hate them but I understand the criticism. Omg Tanner ANNOYS me. When Lucy was on Jake Shane’s podcast, she said Aria went to a rage room in an episode and I was like girl? 😂 Do you mean the multiple times she trashed people’s places? Her dad’s office, Ezra’s apartment, the baby’s room? If I’m not mistaken, the only girl who went to an actual rage room was Hanna when her mom took her to a place to throw plates. My mom and I are going to TX for a couple concerts this summer and we will be going to a Rainforest Cafe near Dallas! We haven’t been in years since most of them have closed.

I don’t think I realized while watching but when you said locker 214 here, I was like 214? As in that random number that was getting thrown around in season one? It was the room number of the motel where Jenna was playing the flute and there was something about a bag. It was also Caleb’s locker combo. Weird that it came up again but it seemingly has no further meaning.

Paige has several bad moments but the thing that made me hate her character was her telling the police Ali was alive after Emily begged her not to

Even though I like Aria and Ezra the show did drop the ball. They really never gave them good drama to me and they treated Aria like her character is only important in relationships. We never really see her single. We see Ezra single but never Aria, except 6A. Emily is the same way, she’s the character I’m most mad about. They screwed her up as well. They screwed Alison up as well. I don’t understand why anyone wants Emily and Alison together. The same one that hate Aria and Erza should hate Emily and Alison as well.

Hello, with you being a first time watcher but I think you said you watched the finale before, I think you should stick to no spoilers.

I enjoy the personal anecdotes so I really don’t mind any story tangents. :) Omg I’m glad you mentioned something is going on with Google. I didn’t know anything changed but my mom and I are on a road trip and we’re having such a hard time with Google. If we search “food near me” for example, it will show us a top result like 2 minutes away and we’re like ok perfect, click go, it will say it’s like 2 hrs and 40 mins away.

You both aren’t the only people that like Jason and Aria. But I see the fandom is very split of this couple.

You all like Jason and Aria. Someone older, filmed underage girls, and had those creepy pictures of Aria, because I don’t for one minute believe the Alison we know took those pictures. I find that interesting given that you both despise Erza for being older, the book, and being her teacher when they started dating.

two alternate ships I wish the show explored at the beginning: noel & aria mike & hanna they were long-lasting relationships in the books and had interesting dynamics (& far more appropriate in aria’s case)

My fav ship will always be Haleb I also kind of liked Aria with Ezra’s brother What if Jenna just knows things because of social media? Lol The girls seem to think she can’t read because she’s blind so I wouldn’t be surprised if Hanna specifically was like well yeah I posted my engagement all over ig but Jenna wouldn’t know that, she’s blind

I always wanted Spencer and Ezra. You’re biased and just don’t like Ezra. If you follow the show thinking you would like him or at least be tolerable of him more. Just my opinion

Aria being kidnapped is what ruffled her, she has recovered from that. I think she feels whenever she is happy A ruin things and the “Liars” make situations worse.

Unpopular opinion: I actually don’t mind what they did with Ali’s character. I understand the criticism that they made her soft but she grew up, felt bad about her past, tried to be a better person, but still had moments where she would revert back to being mean and manipulative. I’m glad she had some growth, but at the same time, her more mature self is not a complete departure from her as a child and teen. Congrats on the new place btw!

The lack of urgency that all the friends had in trying to free Hanna enraged me! Especially Aria. Of course Spencer has learned multiple languages on the app. I’ve got a 592 day streak on Duolingo and I’m nowhere close to finishing the course. To be fair, I sometimes just do the bare minimum to maintain the streak. 😂

I think Aria is the biggest cheater, I think she has cheated on ALL her partner's at some point. But her and Hanna love to just kiss a man (yes, man, not boy). Remember when Hanna kissed that grown ass cop, I forget his name, the one who later on is in cahoots with Ali? But this one where Hanna and Caleb cheat is by far the worst, even though I like Haleb, but this puts a big shadow on their relationship

When it comes to political and economic aspects this show is terrible and I wish they would have not even tried to bring more apparent political issues into it at all because they just don't handle it well. Regarding the class consciousness, it's also so weird. They are all so well off but don't really acknowledge it. We have the plot about Hanna and Ashley and their money problems early on, but they live in this giant house, drive new cars etc so I never felt that bad for them. Caleb wasn't well off, but then they had to make him rich too with his mom having lots of money.. also remember how Spencer talked about Caleb at the beginning when they first met him? She made snide remarks about him being poor and judged him due to his economic situation and him being in the foster system.. That's a big part why I don't really like them together. I know she was young and probably evolved, but it seems weird regardless. Also interesting how we never really see Spencer acknowledge her privileges of being raised in this extremely wealthy, powerful family.. I think someone said it in the show - there is rich and then there is Hastings rich.

I feel like the writers forgot what Toby's character is like somewhere along the way. I feel like the Toby of the later seasons has pretty much nothing in common with the early seasons Toby. Remember "it's okay to be different, I like different" Toby? Soft Toby that cried in an alleyway after two kids ran screaming from him? Now all of a sudden he likes traditional, he likes normal? It makes no sense to me. I still can't get over him becoming a cop and staying one. Excuse me Sir, remember how the copwls mitreated you and made you an outcast? And did the same to your girlfriend and friends??

I’ve wondered about why they chose to dress as Wilden as well and they only thing I could come up with was they have a similar build and it’s someone she knows who is dead lol When you said this was a direct quote from Emily and mentioned Jojo Siwa I thought you were quoting character Emily at first and I was like I don’t remember that lol I was cracking up at the Brinser bit lol at first I did think Brenton was combining his name with Spencer 😂 Did you guys see Sasha is going to be in a movie where she plays twins? Somebody in casting was not giving up on the idea of Ali as a twin.
