Breathtaking. Literally, I gasped more than once, what a beautiful gift to the world. Thank you.
I disagree. I think studying is helpful if you want to go down the teaching route. But to be an artist - this attitude is elitist to me and has always been what puts ppl off. If you are passionate, you will self study and have an interest in the history of textile.
People are really different /I'm a rare hand stitching artist /I haven't been trained at all and my work is about that /I invented my own art form and sold my first piece of art for 2000 600/and can teach others just fine/most people have lots of technique and nothing creational to say/having something creational to say means so much in great art/the only way I work on art is in understanding what i'm doing /I develop my art with out touching it /then when I do a piece I figure it out as I go /teaching problem solving matters more then skill/and human soul work matters more then tech training /good art has lost its way in the hardline world- - - leaning into putting life flow into art /momentums of soul and the scrappy sacred matters more then fancy stitches ever could /great art wasn't made by the intellect /its made by heart spurs and momentum of feeling!lol
❤
actually I really am not interested too much in what artists have to say, I much rather see their work. After fast forwarding to the next picture I realized you don't have too much to show. giving this video a thumbs up because I like the idea behind your interviews but PLEASE more pics!!!
Ty for this talk with Anne Kelly. 🇨🇦
I received Textile Portraits as a gift for Christmas. Such a lovely and inspirational book.
Wonderful!
I thoroughly enjoyed this, thank you.
So reassuring to hear that people are often either a knitting or a crochet person. I have tried repeatedly to be a knitter but it just doesn't take. But I do enjoy crochet.
Listened to this via the audio podcast version on Spotify. Enjoyed it very much. Always nice to learn that more people are adding to needle-felting medium as art. It has been challenging, as a needle-felt tapestry 'painter' artist, always having to explain to people what this medium is, how it is made, and to enforce that it has the same value (monetary) as an oil painting/traditional artwork. It was nice to hear about Holly's background, and learning about sheep and how wool is magical and amazing! What beautiful shading she uses in her dimensional sheep pieces. The natural white should fit in well with the current modern design/homes. Best of luck to you Holly, and thank you very much Gail for producing such worthwhile and interesting interviews!
Aww that's great. Thanks for listening and we're so glad you enjoyed it. Holly is a brilliant artist and thankfully she is keeping the medium very much in focus. x
i am in my final year at alberta university of the arts, AUarts (not a joke thats the name) working on my BFA in the College of Craft and Emerging arts as a fiber major. i felt the exact same thing when i walked into the fiber department, i was home. when i first warped my first full sized loom i lost all track of time, i was there 6 hours, no music, no videos, just thread and loom.
Textiles art is sooo good for mindfulness! Good luck for your final year!
Beautiful work
Gorgeous
The strongest message for me at almost 70 years of age is that I dont have to learn all the stitches first. She gave me permission to just do it!
Wow some great pieces
I am blown away by this art form!! She is truly a master craft woman with her own very unique style! I am in awe! I love textile art, I'm just getting into a few things now like punch embroidery, rug tufting, crocheting, beaded jewelry macrame, clay, resin, painting etc...( mid life artistic crisis!!) lol I guess I'm searching for something that best represents my artistic expression but I can't imagine ever being gifted enough to do something remotely this gorgeous!! The detail, the textures, the fact that it's 3D and almost seems alive and can jump off the page!! It's just breath-taking!! She has such a youthful, imaginative and happy disposition and that comes across in her work so beautifully. If she ever did an online course, I would take it!! Oh no... more craft supplies!! haha I need a bigger house!! haha Amazing interview! Loved every minute of it!!
🌊🦀🐚🏝️☀️
I love all of the details in the foreshore, i.e the look of wet sand, rocks etc. Beautiful work (-: Marion 🎉
The use of color reminded me of watercolors. So impressionistic! Thank you so much for her work. I never get tired of seeing it. Could you explain how you did the woven gold work? And are the beads made of felt? Ms. Campbel looks like an absolute joy to talk to!
What a lovely response! Thank you so much, I do appreciate your interest. The gold work has a basket or woven effect by a long and short stitch on the top. This causes gaps which are filled in in subsequent rows, giving the in-and-out effect. The narrowing to the point is by decreasing the stitches evenly in the row. To emphasis the effect, I used a rococo gold thread which I think I bought from Sarah Homfray. Some beads are made from satin, but the beads I think you mean (red ones) are made from layers of fabric. 💐
So much talent! So beautiful! Thank you for sharing that you are self-taught. Love seascapes!
Эти работы- полный восторг! Спасибо огромное, что поделились! Целый волшебный мир, созданный одной женщиной! Потрясающе!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow great pieces
Glad you like them!
Amazing work, chapeau! 👏
Thanks a lot! Our students are very talented and hardworking.
I’ve seen Salley’s beautiful work many times in Massachusetts, Vermont and currently Albany, NY. Her work is inspiring. I and my friends love that her work is opening the door to fiber art in museums. Come to NY at the Albany Institute of History and Art. It’s a wonderful exhibit.

I found the conversation interesting. The sound was perfect. I was disappointed with the visuals. It would have been lovely to see more examples of work. Those that were shown were beautiful. This is the first time I’d tuned in to this channel.
Glad you enjoyed it and we appreciate your feedback. These videos are primarily created for those that need the captions but you can listen to our podcasts on any platform. Many thanks

Sound so poor I could not keep listening so dissappointing
That's strange, no body else has reported problems. Maybe it's an issue with your sound/computer speakers? These videos are primarily created for those that need the captions but you can listen to our podcast on any platform. Many thanks SST
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Absolutly love the Salley's creative and joyful relaxed energy. Puer joyt o listen her and look at her artworks <3
Thank you so much!
Gracias gracias gracias ! Alegrías ! Ensueño !
Just some feedback for what it’s worth. I found the little white line moving at the top of the screen very distracting, so much so I couldn’t keep watching this podcast. I’m disappointed because what I heard was very interesting and I wanted to share in the artists journey but it was just impossible to listen to and watch.
Thanks for the tip! It is also available on all podcast platforms, on our website or you can listen at this link without the visuals player.captivate.fm/episode/54cb304c-dad0-4b3f-847d-82f7b9798338

WOW amazing
I am also so thrilled to come across this video ! I live in New England (Ct.) not far from Cape Cod, so I would love to go see a local show of Sally’s. Going to keep an eye on any upcoming exhibits of her work, I would love to see her Art in real life. So much joy and beauty in her work, I’m in awe ❤ Thank you for showcasing her work.
Sounds great!

Masterpiece
I was lucky enough to see an exhibition of Salley’s work (I went THREE times!) at a museum here in Greenville, South Carolina, USA. Each piece was mesmerizing in its story and detail. Magnificent work! I stood in front of a few of them for about ten minutes, thoroughly looking into all the details.
What a wonderful experience. Sounds like such great fun! South Carolina is a beautiful state❤️
Wow! We're super jealous. We just love Salley and her work.
Is it still in Greenville?
Fabulous work
It really is amazing
