Arc it or park it. You guys stay seated no arcing for you lololol
0:47 all i see is a windmill of body parts
Ah ha..my bad... left hand on top means if handle is parallel to ground , the left hand is on top of handle, palm facing down, with right hand under handle , paml up
Also ypu said he needs left hand on top but you used your right hand to demonstrate:)
I think ollie does have left hand on top in the video
Hey... you said left foot forward left hand on top , i though you said the opposite some time ago. I used to be left on top , i switched to right on top and did much better. Can you confirm
It always looks like to me that they start their turn way too early. Past the buoy then think about turning, but by the time they turn, their apex at turning is wider then. Try turning later. Let the buoy touch your leg at the end of the turn not the beginning.
🐐
Somebody needs to tell them no drinking before competition.
Best mind healing footage ever. One of best watersking reference.
👌💥
Joel, well said,as a sidenote,i have 10% of your eyebrows, screwd genetically, in my next life, god will treat me more gently
What great Advice, love your videos mate, thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.
Anything over 100 ft water turns into concrete
Skied one tournament with you way back. Beaver lake. You had a Helmont on and ran 39
3 years ago I had a really bad crash. Did ski quite well with no crashes. Madeleine my first ever full 16m, 52 kmh. Did use clinchers. Next run I had an early really, really strong pull towards 5. Skitip dig into second wake. Did hold on hard. Upper arm bone broke. Nervs to both hands broke. Could not lift the hands. Broke my neck. Reasonable ok now but can not ski 16m anymore. New ML rope started to fray
Yes!!! Another video
Great video! This was 1993 not 1989 though. Scot Ellis didn't start competing professionally until 1990 and it was only called the Bud Water Ski Tour in 1993-1995.
FYI. Filming the back of the guys head is super annoying.
I’ve been stuck in a rut for some time now, and would love some coaching!
I started waterskiing 2 months ago, and I still can’t push my waist forward. Do you have some advise to deal with that?
Hey Joel, can you tell me how I could submit a video? Thanks, I love watching your videos!
Hey Jared if you submit a video over on Give Go I can take a look
My Skiing definitely needs some help. How do I submit a video?
Thanks mate really appreciate! I do remember this day the water was trash’s and dad was trying to hug into a little nock but I can give some slack now haha😂
I’m new to this channel and wanting to get some coaching. Where/how did you send in your ski video to get coaching?
Good to have you back mate
Love the video critiques! Hey, it would be great if we could see a loop of the video during critique with you in the corner to see the flaws in the skier better.
Will do
❤ Looking for advice for an unusual problem. In many years of slalom skiing, I’ve always found it easy to come up out of the water as long as I press very hard with my back leg, to stabilize the ski. Unfortunately, I’ve recently been diagnosed with an aortic aneurysm; my cardiologist (also a skier) has cautioned me that that portion of the ski run could prove fatal to someone with my condition since, when I strain like that, especially if holding my breath, systolic pressure can momentarily rise high enough to rupture my weakened aorta, causing instant death. I’m looking for a technique (or preferably a ski) that doesn’t require me to press so hard with my leg. Have you any advice more preferable than that of my cardiologist, which is to quit slalom skiing altogether?
21.25 Ït's not a technique issue, it's an intent issue". This is incredibly advanced coaching.Joel, what a Masterclass, thank you. I'm also a buoy hunter. Will keep your advice in mind.
That's a big wake....good grief!!
Hi Joel are you still doing the video coaching? Cheers James
Hi James, yer just starting it up again if you want to send through your video to waterskicoaching@gmail.com.
Great images, loved it!

O .m gosh I love these videos. We need more
So awesome
It’s not 1989. It’s more like 92-93. Great video though
Those are Stars and Stripes 190s - would have been 1993 for the 25th Anniversary
tell the young lady "thanks", that was the best part of the video (ha, ha). Who else trains at that lake besides you (the professional).
Where did you stay and ski when you first came to the U.S.?
Joel, Is it a cable course? We're getting ready to move ours about 50 yards. It has 2 large buckets of concrete at one end. How much weight would you recommend to hold it on a larger public lake. Thanks and best wishes
Joel, why don’t you ski more tournaments in the US? You are a great skier and can win anytime. Love to see you ski on WSBC.
I notice these taller guys have harder time
Great slip screen comparison!
Love Manon!!!
I just smashed my head crossing like Tom. These boats are pro. Wake is best at comp speed around 12M. Way back on the wake is like climbing a mountain!
Waste of time and money. Low iq sport…no thinking just swinging. Wakeboarding requires a much bigger spacial and mental iq because every flip we do is a different sport while in the air.
Water ski racing is Better than both, high speed, requires great skiers, good drivers, all sorts of different classes and great fun to be side by side with another skier with your smoc boats fully trimmed at 85mph
@@SkiRacingOz i don’t like speed, speed kills.
@@Mobev1 still more fun and skilled😉
@@SkiRacingOz if you want to go fast buy a plane ticket
@@Mobev1 planes aren’t fun, going 75 mph in rough conditions in a lake race thinking ahead by pacing yourself to last the whole race at those speeds while simultaneously staying ahead of your rivals is much harder, funner and better than wake boarding.
Hello Joel! Christine Bradstreet here. Wow, I somehow missed this video even though I've watched and learned from so many of yours! Thank you for the coaching and I'm sorry for my late response. I have good news! Over the past year, I've been doing what you suggest. I've been crossing the wake with a better angle, pulling through the 2nd wake, and making a more pronounced edge change before the turn. That's given me snappier turns, no slack in the line, and no stalling on my off side. My husband got a rope with a training section that's 18.5 off and now I can run the course with that shorter line. Next is 22 off 😄 Fun fact - you were in the boat at Coble Ski School the first time I got all 6 buoys. And yes, this is on Lake Howard in Winter Haven FL. Waterski capital of the world! Thank you again. Your videos are helping a lot of people learn. We've been telling our friends about them. Cheers!
wow, that is amazing. So happy to hear that.
Awesome lake rule. The sportsman’s club I belong to the women are not allowed to sit at the bar. As it should be
Women don’t feel pain like people do.
How’s the txi compared to a pro star? At 30 mph long rope?
We joined a ski club last September. I’ve been free skiing since I was 9. Same ski since early teens, now 37. They convinced me I needed a new ski. Got a D3 Arc. Felt like my old ski, comfortable, does what I tell it. With a lot of coaching from other members I got through the course. Once. Cant manage it again. Getting tons of slack as soon as I go around a buoy now. I’ve been doing a lot of listening to what they tell other members. Sounds like you ski 15 and 22 off differently than you ski 28+ off. If it’s skied so much differently, why does everyone start at 15 off? On the same note, why not 0 off? The one time I got through the course I had so much space for buoy 6, I was looking for the next buoy. I feel like I’m just getting started skiing by the time we’re at the end of the lake and have to stop. Pretty frustrating and hard to practice anything. Is this just something I have to get use to? I feel like I need to go free ski a lake to figure out how to ski again!
We have a 97 Nautique. Some of the other members have an Infinity. Old as well, but the wake is even better!
