Yeah, honestly, the tremolo picking in that song is very exhausting. I had also played the song several times that day so my arm was wore out . I was running directly into a Line6 Stomp. I think the setting was using their version of an Engl. The guitar is a 20 year old mahogany Carvin with a M22SD pickup. I ran out of the Stomp into a focusrite interface then mixed the signal with the original track and then output the headphone jack straight into the mic input of the camera.

@@VenomousConquest I personally love it. I use it more than anything I own. I also own several tube amps. For example, I own the Marshall Studio JCM 800, Engl Fireball 25, Laney AOR combo and I have a Peavy Class ic 30 Combo. I own 4 tube amps and I own a pedal board that is loaded with all the typical stuff people have. However, I still use my STOMP the most because it is more versatile and easier to use for recording and lower volumes. It doesn't mean I don't love my traditional amps but I love digital as well. I am hoping that Line 6 will offer Amp Capture technology soon. Once they have that it will be game over in a lot of ways. Maybe they will release something new at NAMM.

I agree. Learn that first 2 chords and you will want to hit the strings like they are funeral bells.

ESP LTD SN-1000 EverTune Electric Guitar - Charcoal Metallic Satin - Sweetwater Pleked it Because The frets were not 100% level. The 17th -22nd fret is scalloped. It has stayed in tune literally the whole time I have had it. It has a Pegasus Bridge pickup and hot for strat singles. 🤘

A guitar that will stay in tune is priceless

@@VenomousConquest😂😂😂 I agree. I took the strings off and put them back on and it was still in tune. The evertune system is pretty amazing. However, it adds a lot of weight to the instrument, also this guitar does not sustain well above the 12th fret. I think the evertune is great but it certainly has a few draw backs. It just depends on the application. I think it is probably best suited for chugging low tuned rhythms for recording. I can see it being super useful in a studio setting. This is the only guitar I have had with one so I need to try a few more so I can make a better judgement about them. Regardless of all of that, it always blows my mind when I pick it up and it’s literally always in tune perfectly.

So near the beginning of the solo he does a double stop in the key of C# on the 9th fret on the 1st string while bending to the same note on the 12th fret of the 2nd string. This happens right after the hammer on pull off part. Hope that helps.

I’m glad that someone out there in the world digs it. Tony Brandt of Phantasm is currently selling the Phantasm demos from early 90’s on CD at Ebay and he also has some great shirts for sale. I’m wearing one in this video. My favorite is the Lycanthropy demo. And yeah I love all that old school underground death metal.🤘

Chris Collin's vocals on the Oblivion Knight demos are among the best power metal vocals I've ever heard, being very unique with impressive high notes. Many years ago, when I was about 13-14, I met guitarist Chris Camp at a boys club. He kindly gave me the Oblivion Knight demos and spent a few hours introducing me to some music I had never heard before. Oblivion Knight was created by bassist Steve Sexton and Chris Camp, and I think they deserved much more recognition for their great music. I think I was using 11-54 in that video. To be honest, it's all about personal preference. Tony Iommi was playing in C# with 9's. Obviously take your scale length into account. If you are playing on a 25.5 scale guitar and you want a lot of tension I would try 11-54 or even 12-56 if you are on a 24 3/4 scale. Hybrid sets are also very cool because you can use thicker strings on low strings and thinner strings on high strings which make lead licks easier. I honestly do both. I love thick strings for the tension but I really enjoy thinner strings as well. What I would do if I were you is tune your guitar down to C# with what you have and see if you like it. If you don't then get some thicker strings. I will say this as well, The tighter my string tension the faster and more precise I can play because there is less floppy oscillations flying around but again I like thin strings as well. Ernie Ball has a nice page on their website with their opinion of the best strings to use for each tuning. String Joy also has a string gauge calculator, so you can match your current string tension at a lower tuning with different gauges and then last, The Does it Doom guy has a list of string gauges and tunings that specific bands use. All are very helpful for guidance. Thanks for the question.

Yeah,I love Spellcraft. I think older bands were more unique in general. For example, all black metal bands use to sound completely different from one another until someone decided that to be black metal you were only allowed to sound like Norwegian bands. Take for example “ OLD” Rotting Christ, Samael, order from chaos, masters hammer, impaled Nazarene, beherit and others… all of those bands were completely different and were all considered black metal until about 3 years later when everyone decided you had to sound identical to Mayhem, burzum, darkthrone and Emperor to be considered black metal. These days if someone was unfamiliar with all the really old stuff they would not even classify many of those bands as being black metal just because everything became homogenized afterwards. But at any rate, yeah I love really unique bands and I wish more bands tried harder to sound original.

Honestly, I used to be a lot faster when I was younger. But thank you kindly for the compliment. These days, I usually think I just suck. So I absolutely appreciate the props. I’ve been playing guitar since I was 11 or 12 years old and I’m currently 49. So I guess the answer would be lots of practice.

@@ryancranny3137 That's very kind of you to say, thank you. I genuinely appreciate your support. I actually meet Alexi one time in 2001 while in Czech Republic when they opened up for Primal Fear. When learning to play fast, experiment with all kinds of picks and different string tensions. I find I play very differently depending on the string tension and the various picks I use. And again, thank you for the support.
