The song was sung and orally transferred from mother to daughter in all generations. It is sung before a wedding, at the mikvah, and at every marriage-related event. The song talks about the early marriage phenomena: many girls who reached the age of 12-14 would be sold to an intended groom who paid money for the girl and thus they would be married off. The girls didn't understand and sometimes...

I was watching jewish veg about passover - the newest video - the zeder cheder - and they talk about a vegan version of the seder plate. I have to say - this is the best charoset recipe that I've seen (at least for simplicity, as I do love my spices and richness) and really can see this as a great everyday meat substitute (it's like ground meat or mincemeat maybe? I don't really know what mincemeat with real meat's really like - but you know what I'm saying). Hey - I'm 1st here too - on a roll!

Some time back, in the 80's and/or 90's, there were a number of Jewish graduate students who befriended and/or connected with the Assyrian community in Chicago and documented/did their graduate work on the Assyrian dialects of the 5 Assyrian tribes that used to inhabit (until WW1) the mountainous region of eastern Turkey, Hakkary, north of Iraq today. Each tribe had its own dialect and each had a plethora of Akkadian/Ancient Assyrian words preserved in their respective dialects. I remember one name, Sam Fox, he documented the Jeelu dialect, another Daniel was always hanging out with our group of university students. I also heard of another who documented the dialect of the tribe of Baz. I have always wondered if they ever published their research. I was happy that this was done since being outside of our homeland we are losing this precious language we have. Find more info on www.aina.org. PS: Forgot to mention, I am Assyrian and I speak read and write my language.

The Kurds are an Indo-Persian race. They came during the Ottoman era as mercenaries to kill the Assyrian minorities, and the Ottomans rewarded them by taking lands and women. The Jews are Assyrians, Babylonians, Aramaeans, not Indians or Persians. The Kurds are not an indigenous people in Mesopotamia, but rather their origins are from Gujarat, India and Iran.

The language is Assyrian not aramaic because there is no such a thing as aramaic, that is a lie. Those Jews lived in Urmia and surrounding villages where the majority were Assyrians as well as in the north of Iraq which is the heartland of Assyria (not Syria ) as you mentioned.
