Extrasunday Calligraphy
Великобритания
Добавлен 5 май 2020
Self learning Copperplate & Modern Calligraphy is totally possible. My methods are what I learned from the months and years of experimenting what worked and what didn't. I hope they will be useful to all who aspires to pick up Calligraphy whenever, whenever.
Calligraphy - Flourish confidently
Calligraphy flourishing may seem intimidating - but it’s not. All you need is a pencil, an eraser, guidelines on your favourite paper, some imaginations and some patience.
In this video, you can see how I started by:
1) scripting as usual,
2) then added some loops - look out for ascenders and descenders to extend the loops and curves,
3) erase off anything you’re not happy with and keep experimenting, then finally when you’re happy with the draft,
4) write it over with your favourite ink, and
5) erase pencil marks.
Give it go. Maybe start with words that you like, words that motivates you or even names!
Thanks for watching.

Get started with Calligraphy Flourishing
Просмотров 9002 месяца назад
Many people think that flourishing is complicated and difficult. It’s not at all! All you need is a pencil, an eraser and papers with guidelines. Start by scripting as usual - this can be in any scripts, Copperplate or Modern Calligraphy. Then, look for letters that can be ‘extended’. The easiest is to look for letters with ascenders and descenders, for example b, d, g, j. However, you can also...
Copperplate basic strokes with Pentel Touch Sign Pen
Просмотров 2475 месяцев назад
Pentel Touch does almost exactly what the humble nib can do - allowing you to make thick and think strokes. Similar to a nib, just gently and slowly push the tip of the brush pen upward when you’re making thin strokes, and then RELEASE THE PRESSURE when you are transitioning from a thin (up) to a thick (down) strokes. This brush pen is designed to provide similar experience! Happy scripting! #c...
Calligraphy with Pencil (Basic strokes & Minuscules a-z)
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.5 месяцев назад
When you don’t have your nib, holder and ink and desperately need to write a copperplate script, and yet you don’t want to make faux calligraphy…. Pencil is your answer! Start by making a flat edge of the pencil lead, and then you can make distinctive light and dark strokes by applying pressure and lifting them as you make down and upstrokes respectively. For calligraphy beginners, pencil is a ...
Calligraphy trick to look like an expert!
Просмотров 7373 года назад
We’re only human! Sometimes it’s not easy to make 2 repeating letters 100% identical in size - width and height (example: fallen, with 2 L’s). It’s really easy to fix this, especially if you’re working on a final piece of art and not practising. Simple trick: Create a simple flourish design for either one of the letters. In this video, I’m showing how it’s easy to make the word not only beautif...

Have you ever seen and wonder how to create natural-looking ink splatter so that they have all sorts of sizes and shapes? Have you ever thought it would be difficult to make them? Don’t sweat as it is so simple, I might create another video to show you in a more thorough process. Meanwhile, enjoy this script and turn up your volume if you like the scratchy sound of calligraphy nib on paper! #AS...
Copperplate ideas: g & y variation
Просмотров 1913 года назад
I’ve recently been obsessed with the variation of ‘g’ & ‘y’ minuscules by shortening the legs of these alphabets to hang at the first descendant line. And instead of looping back the legs, I then end the legs with terminal dots. Do they look cute? What do you think? Copperplate Calligraphy on textured paper
Просмотров 4443 года назад
Writing on textured paper can be a pain. For this, I’ve used a Nikko G - the forever reliable calligraphy nib, and an DIY ink made of gouache. Go very slow on a textured paper - but this means you need to make sure you have a very, very steady hand! Watch my earlier video on how to make DIY ink from gouache.

What oblique holder are you using and is it compatible with other nibs
Hi. Sorry for the delay! Yes the holder is compatible with most other nibs as it uses screw to hold the nib. So you can adjust it accordingly. I got it from an Australian seller via Etsy (Weedbrook). I just checked their profile and it says that they’re taking a short break. www.etsy.com/uk/shop/Weedbrook Hope this helps! :)
Gracias! Thank you for watching. Sorry for the delay. Been away as I was been busy temporarily. I’ll try to make more videos in the coming weeks! If there’s anything specific that you would like me to write, let me know and I’ll try to make it ☺️ Thank you!

Thank you!
Brilliant. I have few questions 1. I see you mix Engeosser's style by breaking some strokes, may I know the logic or reasoning for that ? 2. What nib, holder and paper ? 3. Do you have a quick tutorial on mixing ink as it seems that it's consistency is brilliant and just so accurate that there is no hint of blobs or bleeds at all. Thank you and keep up the amazing work, love it
Hello! I’m super sorry for the late late late response. I did another video on mixing ink - the same ink I used for this video to address your Question 3. Hope this helps! Thank you for watching and for your wonderful comments. How to Make Calligraphy Ink from Gouache ruclips.net/video/wwJCWsnJpGI/видео.html
As for the nib, it’s one of my favourites! It’s the ‘Perry & Co. 7071 Extra Fine’. So sorry - I used to go around collecting nibs. On this one, I totally don’t remember where I got it from 🙏🏼 As for holder, I bought it from a nice seller on Etsy - www.etsy.com/uk/shop/Weedbrook
Beautiful!
Thank you!
👍😍
This was stunning! You have such an ease with lettering, but it looks like an ease that probably comes to you after having done a lot of hard work. Well done!
Thank you! Yes calligraphy is all about the muscle memory. It did take some time but it just went on auto mode after awhile! ☺️ thanks for viewing!
Amazing🤩👍
Thank you! 😊😊
Lol, not a single shake or mistake! Amazing 😃. What is the oblique pen brand? looks quite nice and well made!
Thank you! 🤗 I got my oblique pen from an Etsy shop - Weedbrook. They’re from Australia :) And it was properly wrapped and shipped over. I got it few years ago now. Hope they have nice designs for you 🤗
excellent
Thank you! 🙏🏼🤩
Wooow❤👍👍
😊😊 thanks for visiting the video!
Brilliantly done.
Thank you!!
Single colour is beautiful than mixed colours
Looks absolutely beautiful .How does your nib go so smoothly on the upstrokes ? Mine catches and skips even on smooth paper.
Thank you. Some nibs are really reliable especially Nikko G. It makes fine lines but doesn’t catch paper easily :)
thanks for sharing👍👍👍
Thank you for watching! :)
Amazing as usual..👍👍👍
Aww thanks Slio! Thanks for your support too! ☺️☺️
Not sure if there’s sound . Looks good but if there are any instructions, I’m baffled as to what they are 🤔
Hi Linda - thanks for watching and sorry about the sound! I'm trying to update the video but you should see some written instruction when I started the second row of the script. Sorry again about this - just trying to add a music to accompany the video :) I welcome your feedback to make my future videos more friendly-to-watch! Thank you~~

Beautiful. Please make a video how to write sentences.Thanks.
Sure! I will very soon! In fact I will show how to use basic strokes to form letters and then letters to make sentences. Thanks for the suggestion! 🤗
@@ExtrasundayCalligraphy Thank u so much
Es una escritura exquisita la que vemos en este tutorial . Me permiten pedirles el favor de decirme como se llama el instrumento con que escriben. Gracias
Gracias! The nib is “Perry & Co. 7071 EF”. The word EF means Extra Fine. This brand may not be common everywhere but there are many brands that make “extra fine” nibs. The most common non is Nikko G, and it’s a good nib - sturdy and gives the extra fine quality! As for the ‘ink’ - I made it myself. It’s gouache + water. One of the benefits of using gouache is that it works on almost any type of papers, and the ink won’t bleed. Try it! And have fun!! ❤️❤️
Bahut hi sundar ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍👍👍🙏

woooooooooow fantastic calligraphy with beautiful lavender👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👍
dear friend where can i get this ruler.....
@@calligraphykitty9664 Hello! Sorry for the late response. It’s called the “Engrosser Ruler by Aquino da Silva”. If you google it - you should see a few people selling it. I got mine from a shop back in Kuala Lumpur. I hope you’ll find it from somewhere near to you? :-)

What nib is being used for this video??? It is amazing how easily it flows from one letter to the next! Could you please let me know what the nib is so that I can run out and go get one :0). Thank you!

Nice work. Is that the correct shading on the 'M' Majiscule?
Is that with a Nikko G nib?
