This is an update of everything I have added to the tank so far. New thing's are coming soon and some awesome product collaborations are in the works stay tuned and subscribe for more reefing content to come.
Where did you put the UV sterilizer in this tank
What light are you using my friend
I wasnt able to source this tank form a LFS or even Innovative but got a similar setup and will be using this as inspiration👍. I emailed IM multiple times trying to buy this tank without stand and they werent even close to helpful😵💫
Dats dat ner sir!! 🫡
I won a jolt coral at a coral show .it was a jason fox lepto
Can you use distilled water to calibrate the hanna salinity tester?
is this your 50 gallon IM?
as far as a battery backup.... cant you just get a computer battery backup or something similar and just plug into that?
are you still running this tank?
What size tank is that?
thanks for sharing this info. .. I would rewatch and see how many "Super's" and "Super Awesomes".
What happened no update seriously thinking of buying this tank if it goea on sale again in a few months
I still have the tank I have just been taking a long break 😀
Just bought the same tank, about half way through my nitrogen cycle, love seeing what’s capable with the same tank. Currently running an AI 32HD and a single Nero 5
I’m running some similar stuff I’ll be making an update eventually
Looks like it worked!
It definitely works
gosh trying to decide between this and the 40 thats more of a cube.... part of me wants to get the largest tank I can afford for the size of the space I have to put it...
What happened?
??
@@Chief.R33F what was the effect of the coral snow? I didn't see a difference.
@@deadbrother5355 it clears up the water a ton
Assuming ur tanked got nuked?
Nope it’s still up and running super strong about to post a reel and begin re working this channel. Life has just gotten in the way
What hob skimmer are you using?
Aquamaxx 1.5 and it’s a heck of a skimmer I love it
You should try the VCA random flow generators 1/2" size should fit you need two of them.
I need them I think haha
hows your tank doing I have the same one like to see more videos if you can I had the mp40 on my tank and it was to big mp10s only go up to 9mm glass thickness as you know the tank is 10mm thick so I bought the nero 3, to replace the mp40 way better size for this tank I would like to get one more too, your flow looks great. Also I had the same skimmer but I replaced mine with the Reef Octo 1000bh hang on back it fits great with a little modification. in the second chamber.
About to post a new reel of it, I have been so bad about this channel but the tank is still thriving
Update?
Posting a reel right now I have been awful about this channel since life has gotten in the way but it’s gonna change soon
Update?
I’m in Alaska till Thursday of next week but it’s coming when I get back home I’ll film one the tanks blown up since I have last filmed anything
How long before you need to fill the ATO back up?
About a month
do you think 3 Ai primes are a must for this tank? getting this tank and trying to decide how many I am going to need, Thanks!!!
I run a Nero 5 now in one corner a Nero 3 on the other side and then a Nero 3 in the center chamber to mix my dosing stuff
That SPS is looking pretty darn good.
Thank you so much
That's a slick looking lid.
It’s amazing and works great
Far too soon for a clam, bud. The lighting that you have might be a bit low on the par for a clam too.
Yeah it was a dumb choice but oh well live and learn
Also tested my par it’s at 400 on the bottom with my light schedule so I don’t think that was the issue
I've had great luck with the ecopods from Algae Barn. I've ordered around 200K of them for my tanks. I have a green Mandarin in one tank and a red dragonet in another tank. They eat pods all day every day so I have to keep the pod populating high.
I’ll have to test them out 🤘🏻
15 gallons is way overkill for your tank.
It totally is but, I’m lazy and don’t wanna have to fill it non stop and also I go out of town so knowing I can throw my lid on and be ok for about a month is awesome.
Reefapallozza next weekend. Looking hard at Apex for my new IM 40l. 15% off I hope.
Dude get one you won’t regret it
Love the tank, how is that skimmer sitting in the tank?
The skimmer hangs on the back in the chambers. I do like it a lot but I will say I would go with a tunze 9004 skimmer instead because of micro bubbles
Been there. Not sure why the Apex rule is desgined to 100% for on, but off simply pauses the programmed rate.
Yeah dude it’s a weird thing, but it was a hard lesson and we are still thriving and hopefully I can get a new video out soon as this tank has changed quite a bit
Glad you dodged the bullet with that alk spiking so much. You had to have been freaked out when you saw it milky white. Nice recovery, tank looks great! Good luck with the bargain priced Anemone. I've placed dozens on their own rock with good success. Just leave your flow off for a while and let that foot attach. Surround it with rubble rock if you need to. 👍
Hey thanks for the nice feedback I really appreciate you and thank you for watching :). The nem has grown a ton and stuck around on that rock so I’m super fortunate. There should be an update video soon since I’m gonna film one here tomorrow or the next day. And yes that alk spike was awful 👀😂 I was a bit worried I nuked the tank
100 bucks a piece for used AI Prime HD's is really cheap, good score.
I was super excited to get them that cheap. Thanks for watching my video
Did u ever think about going barebottom?
I considered it, but my livestock I have is why I have sand. Wrasse need sand for sleeping and I love goby’s that sift sand
Sorry I havent been here in a while. I love the equipment and might use it on my soon to come tank. Keep it up I love seeing your channel grow since watching your first episode! Awesome videos man!
Thanks dude and no biggie, I’m currently just trying to make slow small improvements
I love mine Hanna and my is also off .2 which is no big deal because it’s always off .2
Yeah it’s truly an awesome tool and if it’s .2 off oh well as long as I know the difference it’s all good.
Maybe I’ll give the grazer a try. My bristle tooth tang doesn’t seem to eat from the clip. I am supplementing his diet with seaweed extreme.
Try different color seaweeds, my tang refuses the green seaweed but destroys the purple and sometimes the red. Also what I had to do was starve the fish for a day or two but keep the grazer in the tank so it can eat the seaweed and eventually it will go after it because it’s available.
Also there is a link for all those products including the grazer in the description. Get it from that Amazon link because if it doesn’t work out you can easily return it at kohls Amazon return
Look into ice cap battery back up. It support most 24v pump.
I’ll check it out again, I believe it said for the v3 option it doesn’t support any ai products
So I looked into it it seems the v1 ice cap battery backup is 12v. The v2 is 24v so in theory it should work. Then the new v3 is 12v and apparently doesn’t work 🥲 so I’m gonna try to find a used v2 and test the theory
Good stuff big dog
Thanks dude 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Sounds like someone has to much money to blow on gear keep it simple
It’s more because I travel a lot and would like to still keep everything without having a total crash while I’m gone for work for weeks at a time.
I'm in the process of starting a aio 32 cube and right now I'm doing a custom macro aqua scape, hope you keep on reefing I just subbed I like this tank and the Monti on the back nice!
Hey thanks so much more videos will be coming, just gotta make them 🤘🏻 if there is anything specific you wanna see in a video let me know I’ll make it 🤘🏻
Also check out Corals By Design auto filter roller, they recently came out with one specifically for our tank. As soon as it hit their site I purchased it, its a nice unit.
Will you link the filter roller in the comments I can’t seem to find it
@@Chief.R33F every time i try to link the site the reply gets removed...its coralsbydesign
@@johndowning9076 hit me up on Instagram at chief.R33f
Along with the Neros the MightyJet is not compatible with any off the shelf battery backups as they are 24v vs 12v. I'm in the process of building a 24v lithium battery backup that will turn on automatically when power cuts out. For the heater check out the IM Helio dual heater, has built in redundancy, very reliable and is built not to fail on and cook your tank. I'm super happy with that purchase. Also what UV system are you using?
Check out the link in the description that’s my uv setup, also I’ll def look into the filter roller. How are you liking it so far ???
Interested in the your light schedule
Hit me up on Instagram @ chief.R33f I’ll link you the file
That's right big dog
Way to come back from that!💪 Thanks for the honest part and i cant wait for the next video. Been subbed for like a month now and i cant wait for more videos to come.
Next video is gonna go up today it’s a bit lengthy and goes over each piece of equipment I have so people can see it and then if you guys have any questions about it I can make videos on each specific piece and why I chose it etc🤘🏻 and yes I’m so glad I came back from that it was a quick turnaround 🤘🏻
Subbed looking forward to see how this goes in the future. Im thinking about setting up a youtube for my reef tanks as well.
Dude thanks so much and set up a channel and drop the name in my comments I love watching others make tanks and I’ll gladly sub
Been in the hobby for many years and its never smooth sailing all the time, glad you made out alright. Definitely good to be prepared for the worst that way you have a plan when these things happen which they will. 8 years ago i lost my 72 gallon bowfront reef to a faulty heater and I was not prepared to deal with it. Came home from work to find my tank typically at 78 degrees at 88 degrees. Water was HOT all the corals died pretty quickly, and all the fish developed either ich or some other issues within the days after.
Thats scary, I'm using a similar set up in my 50 Lagoon and a honest mistake while learning apex fusion could take everything out. I'm glad you recovered. Look forward to the next video.
It was a little slip up but I got it all under control
