Nice, how’s the front straight on this bike? Lots of wind resistance? I’m Planning to go next track day with this RVE
@@petrolhead9621 on the straights, there is a lot of wind resistance..unless you tuck in. Your ability to go faster on straights are hampered....stay safe, I ended up breaking my gear lever due excess lean angle, scraping foot pegs is common, so rearset foot pegs are recommended..
@@scoopingjoy3278 oh man, guess there’s a lot of difference to my previous KTM 890 duke R Anyway thanks for the feedback
@@petrolhead9621 ride safe.
Great 👍
Best video explaining everything , great job
@@emXietyy thank you very much..
That is a weird issue about the traction control turning on again by itself. It never happened to me. Just a heads up, you don’t need to turn off TC in mode 2 to do wheelies since mode 2 does not use anti wheelie, you should not notice any difference with tc on or off in mode 2 with regard to wheelies. Mode 1 however does require tc off if you want to do wheelies with the smoother throttle map that mode 1 has. If you want to get used to lifting the front safely you can used mode 1 with tc on and just pin the throttle, you will get a good sense of how the bike feels in 1 wheel. You should be able to do wheelies on this bike from 1-3rd gear without much issue. Assuming you can keep tc off, I highly recommend you get used to doing wheelies with mode 1 so you have better throttle control. Once you get used to that you can switch to mode 2 if you feel you need a more sensitive throttle. To summarize : 1. Use mode 1 tc on and pin the throttle to get used to the bike going up with the safety net of tc on 2. Using mode 1 disable tc and practice keeping the bike in the air, pulling the handlebars as you release the clutch can help. 3. Use mode 2 for snappier throttle Have fun and be safe! PS: yesterday was the first time i was able to clutch up from 2nd to 4th on the hyper 698. I managed to do it 3 times! Riding long wheelies is such an exhilarating experience 3.
Forgot to mention, the slower the wheelie (like in 1st gear) the more difficult it is to find balance. Definitely consider learning using 2nd gear even if it means you have to increase your speed slightly
@@JQiRamos thank you very much for your feedback.. I did not try doing wheelies on mode 1 I always tried it on mode 2 and tc off..this time I found it difficult to do tc off on mode 2. I will check with dealer on is there a speed limit for switching off tc. Now back to wheelies, I will try as you recommended on mode 1 and capture that on how it goes.. If you can help with a question..when you do wheelies and when you reach balance point do you feel weightless? Do you feel you are about to flip over ? How do I know I reached balance point ? I will get hyper 698 once I am expert on this one..a drop or fall will break more things on hyper 698 than husky... Once again thank you very much for your valuable inputs.. it helps me a lot.
@@scoopingjoy3278 happy to help! Per the owner manual, with the throttle fully closed, pressing the tc button 3-5 seconds will turn it on/off tc and it can be done at any speed. Regarding your question about balance point, it is as you explained it. You will feel weightless and a sensation that if you give it much more gas you will flip the bike. That is why you need to get used to keeping your foot on the rear brake at all times in case you overdo it. In any case, reducing throttle should help bring the bike back forward. As long as you don’t give it much more throttle, you should not flip the bike and instead you will be “riding “ the wheelie out. What is important to remember is that you need to increase throttle as you keep moving in order to maintain the wheel in the air, that is one thing that could be causing you to drop the bike quickly. I hope this makes sense in how I explained it. Once you get used to the weightlessness you will definitely be able to ride wheelies for longer. On the 690 my personal best was riding 1st-5th which was scary because you land the front wheel very close to 100mph at that point. 2nd-3rd wheelies were very possible on the 690 platform. For context, it took me close to 4 years to feel comfortable holding wheelies at balance point. What I am trying to learn still are slow speed wheelies which are much harder to control.
@@JQiRamos yes the way you explained, makes perfect sense to me now..I can relate to it with my experience with learning and riding.. using rear break does not come automatically to me when doing wheelies, will have to get used to the habit..the instinct is to kill the throttle when feeling weightlessness. Changing gears while doing wheelies will only come in after prolonging wheelie at balance point.. Once again, thank you very much for your patience and detailed explanation.. TC off I will get it checked by dealer
Needed this. Traded for first sumo and need help. Lol. Still trying to figure out what gear to ride in and no engine brake is different...

Have ridden both, agree with everything you said on all fronts. The lighter bikes just feel more fun and with that power to weight ratio, even more so. I had a 690 smcr but now own a hyper 698. Both excellent bikes, I prefer the power delivery of the ducati and improved smoothness
@@JQiRamos thank you for your inputs..I am yet to ride ducati 698 . It's yet to be launched in Malaysia..does the wheelie assist actually work ?
@@scoopingjoy3278 in order to get the antiwheelie ducati created for it you need to install the racing exhaust. I use mine with wheelie control set to off. I have read from others that the experience can be inconsistent and can still intimidating if you’re not used to higher lift angles
@@JQiRamos thank you for sharing..so to get wheelie assist, install the full termi system and wheelie assist automatically kicks in with wheelie control set to off ? And no other additional settings.. may I ask with out racing exhaust, and if wheelie control is set to off, does it pop wheelies like 690 smcr ? Or full racing exhaust is a must ?
@@scoopingjoy3278 the bike has 4 levels of wheelie control. When the bike has the stock exhaust, level 1 (least restrictive) does not raise the wheel more than a few inches off the ground. Once you install the racing exhaust and load the ecu remap, level 1 gets replaced with the wheelie assist. If wheelie control is set to off, without the need of changing anything else, the bike is able to do both wheelies either using throttle or clutch up, both being equally controllable in my experience unlike the hyper 950 that prefers power wheelies. This bike is very capable of doing wheelies without any upgrades. Stiffening the suspension helped a lot as well This bike is as easy to wheelie as the 690 and the key difference is would say is that because this motor has less torque, a longer power band, and more peak power at higher rpms, the 698 is able to carry wheelies longer. Because the quickshifter is so smooth, you are able to shift while doing a wheelie and it will not drop the bike as easily as the 690 used to do for me whenever i would try to do the same. The 690 platform makes quickshifter smoother if you are giving it a lot of throttle. If you time your throttle increase mid-wheelie as you shift on a 690, you should be able to mitigate some of the clunkiness you described
@@JQiRamos thank you very much, your comments are very insightful..

On the sides, number plates bear the number 62 to commemorate 1962, the year the first Ducati Scrambler debuted. Cost of ownership is similar to other motorcycles in price range.. periodical oil change and service intervals are in multiple of 10k km.. being Ducati, they charge premium for every motorcycle including scrambler..I own a Hypermotard 950 and oil changes cost almost 20-30% more than Japanese manufacturers and Ktm at least that’s here in Malaysia..
