I prefer stiching to finishing as well. I've really got to get caught up on Deadly Aquarium. It was my first year at Frogwarts this year, it can be intimidating when you don't know anyone.

Great recap, fun stitching as usual. I also appreciate your gentle reminder to folks to pause and reflect before going over the top with exchange packages. I love Ursula LeGuins Earthsea books for the reasons you touched on in discussing Tehanu. Although some have aged better than others, placed in their context at time of writing, I believe LeGuin did an excellent job of addressing various social issues within assorted fantasy worlds. For a completely different reading experience, have you read any of the Murderbot books? They are fun sci-fi mysteries with a snarky cyborg as main character who also loves soap operas. Thanks for another fun flosstube.

Thank you for sharing your taxidermy collection! I am here for it. Being from west Texas, that jackalope is really doin it for me and I understand fully about the AC stress! That is no joke !! We have a local hockey team that are the Odessa Jackalopes. I am a meat scientist and we eat off our land I think it is important to honor the animals that provide for us. I am now looking to see if there is a taxidermy class we can take for our anniversary. Your comment about being hit by a car after the taxidermy was complete. I almost spit my coffee all over the screen!!! I love your collection of unique and and meaningfull items!

Fun stitching. Love that shawl you are working on. If you can knit that shawl, you can knit a sweater. My knitting project at the moment is Hana by Junko Okamoto, a fun cable sweater project. My cross stitch WIPs are too numerous to list 😂. Have fun at your retreat and I hope you get to meet the Hathaway Stitchers. Thanks for the book suggestions. Also don’t worry about “weirdness”, we’re all weird. I say “normal” is vastly overrated and very stifling.

Great flosstube. Although we don’t have any projects in common, I enjoy seeing your projects. The tarot project looks like fun but I’m not ready to commit to that big of a project. I think you will have lots of fun with it though and I will stitch it vicariously. I also like P. Djelic Clark’s work. The drum book (sorry I can’t remember the actual title) was so good. I also like the djinn novel. I haven’t read Ring Shout yet but will eventually. It sounds like another amazing take on an alternative US south. Have fun at Stitch con and I’ll see you next time. Don't mind me getting emotional, just sitting here thinking about when you first started out stitching and having to tell you how to keep stitches in the same order. And looking at you now and how absolutely beautiful both you and your work are. You've come so so far and I feel lucky to have watched you progress and really fall in love with this hobby. Can't wait to attend Stitchcon with you this year and get to watch you interacting with all the new people you've been able to connect with and see you in your element. It makes me so happy to get to see you doing something you find so much joy in and getting to build friendships with people who can celebrate that with you.
