How do you go from 7, to 5, to 2 😂
Math & the calendar. Apple’s macos device lifespan is 7 years from device launch except on major redesigns. about half of them get a shrunken 5 year life span. The M1 was released in 2020 so at the time of filming that video there was 2 years left and the clock has gone down since then.
@ a “new” M1 purchased in 2024/2025 will last at least 5-7+
Last and supported are 2 different things. As soon as apple supports drops 3rd party support goes with it.
@ agreed
What about M1 pro 16+512gb is it good?
I been having issues with memory for a few days. Even tried new ram and have issues. I went back to old ram and tried in non optimized slots to see. Loaded windows fine but when I ran Memtest over 162 errors found and counting. So is my main board the issue or ram?
I’m going to need you to stop drinking Jager because you’re out here just talking crazy and saying anything.
Nope the only crazy thing is that I keep taking jobs unrelated to Apple, and then becoming the apple guy. But that allowed me to get the info in this video and make it so 🤷
@TDSheridanLab 🤔 hmm... maybe there's something to this Jager thing.
Great stuff, Terry! Love the channel.
Thanks Todd! More to come soon.
did you consider internal processes improvements? the bandwith might be a limiting factor for external access, but not for internal processes.
Yes, I touched on that in the Video. Synology states, that SSD Caching won't help bulk file transfers. Also I only have 1 gig networking in my house so a single mechanical hard drive can max out 1 gig networking, Factor in my 4 drive RAID 5 and the LAG i have set up with the network ports. I've been able to max out the network transfer from day 1. Also on most of the Synology units there isn't any hardware acceleration with the storage like a traditional server raid card has. So once you peak the performance of the drives it's a drop off on performance. The main benefits I've seen is Plex runs smoother. Even though most of my collection isn't in the SSD cache. The Plex Metadata cache is. So plex moves faster then before. I also assume, Docker would fall into that same situation, but i'm not running anything that uses a noticeable amount of disk. the docker images i run, sit in ram so after it boots the disks aren't touched except to write logs. Basically, if you're regularly using any of the Synology Apps or supported 3rd party apps on the NAS the popular apps, metadata, and/or app data will get moved to the cache from day to day usage.
I already got one and it’s insane bro it’s the most oh my God I can’t even say it’s so wholesome
i bought the M1 macbook air back in early 2021. How much longer do you think it lasts in terms of lifespan?
If the shorten life span hits with the redesign 2025 will be the last year of support for it. if it gets then full 7 years, then 2027 is the end of official support.
@ gotcha. Thanks!
I’m curious on if you had to change the inserts around during your projects and if so when?
After building the giant barn door and planning all 100+ boards for 5 pallet wood tables the blades are ready to be rotated. The pallet wood caused extra ware and tear.
What's that on your wrist that you used to start the vacuum??
It’s a Bluetooth remote that comes with the vacuum.
This video gets a major dislike and a non subscriber
The seems like a strong reaction to the truth about apple product lifecycles.
Ok fine imma buy it in 2025
Ok, it’s your money.
I have the M1 MacBook Pro which we know is a step up from the air, I think it can go for longer than that
Go for longer and product lifecycle are 2 different things. and when you factor in the lifecycle it's not work buy the old versions.
Sir I use a pc from 15yrs ago .
Then it's lifecycle is up for sure!
Who cares about support when you can just use Linux?
99.9% who are buying Macs, aren’t buying them to install Linux on later.
@@TDSheridanLab But they should be.
Its Chinese not south Korean

I have the m1 pro macbook so well see what happens 😂
ok
FUCKING BACKGRUND NOICE
Would social site and apps won’t work after 3 yrs or would laptop blast away?
It would be up to social media and the web browser company to drop support for unsupported versions of the OS/hardware. Is it on the day the lifecycle ends? No. is it a ticking clock that will explode eventually? Yes
Thank you for this useful content sir, I have a quetion - can we customize (poster/sender) name instead of posting as "name via workflow" ??
not without using PowerAutomate Premium and building the whole thing from scratch.
By it cheap and use it to earn money now. When u get enough money just thow it away wkwkwk. Dont think about life span life span. Ur real life span is more important
and when the computer unexpected stops doing the thing you need it to do to make money...
@ apple not broken so easy my buddy. By newer expensive model also cant gurantee it wont break??❤️
Maybe if someone actually cleans a dirty window, the robot will stick. Then, think of the time saved if you can use a telescopic squeegee.
but telescopic squeegee's take upper body strength that i don't have. The robot can just run around my windows and i don't need to visit a gym.
i got it right but i said 1994 im prombly a winner

Great video. This works perfectly fine! I did some adjustments later on, as the form will be used by other people; I've added the step: send an e-mail to the flow with the link to the list in the body. And I changed the list settings, so the latest response is shown on top.
Nice work! I love power automate and how you can build out what you need it.
Wait but it supports Apple intelligence. Doesn’t that prove it’s lasting
Good enough now to enable Apple Intelligence doesn't change the lifecycle of that specific model.
I have the 8in. version of this jointer. I'm just a hobbiest at best, but this jointer has been great. The only thing I plan on changing is the fence. Cutech makes a cast iron fence which is longer and taller. Thanks for the review. 👍 Just a little cc. I'm with meilyn22 with your background music. Less is more. But that's just my personel opinion with all youtube videos in general. I like your content though.
Thank you, it doesn't take long on RUclips where you have to deep dive into the mechanics of sound levels and such. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to adjust those settings after posting. And Deleting and Re-uploading the video has different ramifications as well. It's something i'm actively working on for future videos.
Can you allocate some of a SSD to a cache and some of it as a drive for apps? Like for instance say a 1TB drive into a 500gb cache and a 500gb drive?
I think you can (I’m not 100% sure)but if you only have 1 gb networking it’s not worth creating an SSD volume unless you’re running vms or disk heavy docker containers.
@@TDSheridanLab I hear ya. I have 10GB Fiber. But It is basically a File/Plex/Docker/Proxmox/HA kinda gadget for me. I think I will make the m.2 drives in a mirror to run some of my apps. That sound like a good idea? First NAS for me. It is DS1823XS+ with 8x24TB Xeos and 64GB RAM, Synology 10GB card. and (2)1TB m.2 drives.
@lesgarten that’s impressive! Unfortunately those mechanical drives can’t max out a 10 gb link. If you use the cache then the popular vms or parts of vms will get cached. Depending on what you’re doing it may be better to have an ssd tier and a slow tier. And skip caching all together.
@@TDSheridanLab That's what I was thinking as well. Run some of the apps on a SSD mirror
Horseshit!!
Good to know we can use extension, 😂
Theirs no way apple bring AI to the M1 to stop supporting it a year later, 2027 will be the end point
Apple Intelligence is mostly software based, so if the hardware is good enough to run it, then yes it's entirely possible that it Apple intelligence will launch and be out for a year when the original M1 macbooks go end of life. At that point M4/M5 will be the current options for sale.
Is there a way to customize fields we are asking for when the client is making the booking. For example I would like them to put their phone number and another persons name.
yes you can. When you create the service, you add the additional fields to the service and if they are required or not. Then they will be on the booking page. It sucks if the fields are needed for every service because you'll have to manually add them to each one. But if you have a small number of services this shouldn't be too big of a deal.
Day light savings?!?! More like day light wasting .. my light bill is higher now that I have to turn on my lights on sooner .. by 5 it’s already getting dark. There’s always an idiot in a high position to do something stupid just because he simply can
I am a video editor. I have a 1522+ RAID 5 config. I have a wired 10gbe connection. I just installed 1 SK hynix Gold P31 1TB. Obviously I have it set to read only b/c that's the only option. Will this set up help my editing performance? Do you recommend getting a 2nd 1TB SSD and enabling R/W cache? Will that help my performance even further? Thanks. Bonus question: I know NVME's can slow down if they reach almost full capacity. When setting my cache size, I had 930GB available, I set it to 800GB, which leaves roughly 14% free on the drive at all times. What is your recommendation here? Should I recreate the cache and change it to the full 930GB?
The best answer to that is a maybe. Heres the easy math on it. We don't need to super precise because it doesn't help the numbers. the 1522+ is a 5 bay unit and if you have 7200 rpm drives in it they can only transfer at 100-130 MBps or 500 to 600 MBps before the Raid 5 read and write penalties. a 10 gbps is 1 GBps so the mechanical drives can only consume ~50% of the 10gbps connection. Synology Cache has no impact on sequential read and write so the file copies back and forth the cache will be useless for that. The read/write cache is essentially a popularity contest that we can't control. So If your current project(s) are the only thing the NAS does then working on new project will eventually kick the previous project out. But it may be sluggish editing until the new project gets moved into the cache. Also i don't know how the size of the projects could impact this. For example if you had a large project you worked on for a month straight and then a simple project that only took a few days. I don't know if the simple project would kick out the large project because it was newer but not technically used more. depending on your working style it make make more sense to make a RAID 1 nvme array for your current projects. Then move the project to slower storage when you're done. This would allow you to max out the 10 gbps connection and allow you to create an array larger then 1 TB. As far as nvme life span goes. Yes cells in SSD get worn down and the drive will swap cells in out to maintain performance. If you're going to be a heavy storage user, instead of limiting yourself on space i'd life cycle my SSD based on the drive warranties. that way it's a predictable schedule for replacement and you don't have to worry about to hard drive math all the time. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching.
Thank you for this video. It was really helpful. Do you know if there are any price implications for using this new MS Teams workflows? i.e can I set up unlimited workflows as needed? I couldn't quite find any pricing information on this.
This is covered under power automate plan 1 which is included in all the bundle skus like office basic, office premium office/microsoft E1/E3/E5 etc. Thanks for watching!
My brand new rams gives me a lot of errors
RMA the ram
Brother, I just saw the whole video and the end product. The end was kinda heart breaking but let's be honest, you look at these tables and how much would you pay for them if someone else made them?. Even the nails look kinda crooked, you can do fine woodworking but it's not just heart but attention to details. You will recover and do better, sorry to be that guy but someone told me the same thing a couple decades ago when I started doing metal work and my stuff sells and now I'm looking to vombine metal and wood furniture. Hope to see you grow.
The style grew on me as the build progressed, but would I buy reclaimed or pallet wood furniture? No, this was a challenge video to go on the trend of copying @morleykert. I figured i had a shot because i did more then glue them all together and run them through the planer. Leading up to christmas i got some interest but overall it's been a flop. In the economy i should have assumed as much. Thanks for watching.
You should feed ot diagonally to wear the teeth evenly otherwise the corner teeth could start experiencing rust or pitting or so I have heard.
I mixed it up throughout the process. It was over 100 planks so most of the planning footage isn’t in the final video.
Probably pulling the trigger on this one, was curious your thought on the 2 speed version? What's the point, I can not see needing a second speed, but didn't want to miss out if there was a reason for it. I imagine its simply faster when you have to do a lot of small passes? Thanks for the video.
Off the top of my head I’m not familiar with the 2 speed unit. I bought this one specifically for the helical cutter head being better than traditional knife based units. If the 2 speed version is a knife based unit then you still have the downsides of knife based units just at 2 speeds. If it’s a helical head unit then I don’t know what the advantage is. Speed has never been the issue with this unit. My “issues” have been around wrestling giant pieces through it in my cluttered garage and keeping everything level. Speed hasn’t factored into that yet.
2 speed is a banger, a neighbor bought all wen stuff (couldn't laugh more) and has the planer with the 2 speed and showed it to me and it sounds solid. The fast speed removes material fast and the lowest speed removes material with a better quality, I bought the tracksaw and tracks for 118 after taxes and the planer is next.
In a nutshell, the only reason to buy or not buy M1 MBA is the price
Price, value, and support.
Does this still hold true if I buy it used for let’s say $500?
Yes, the lifecycle doesn’t change if you buy it new, refurbed, or used. The last 2 have a higher chance that there is something wrong with it.
Fully agree
Thank you
I have two choice hp victus and mac m1 which is best for coding and some office works
Depends on coding for what. If you’re doing apple dev then the windows computer is instantly ruled out. Office is the same on both. Vs code is the same on both. But I wouldn’t force myself into the sub $500 laptop range either. I would use the Apple Card (or HP credit) and 0% financing on a base model air. It will be the better experience and save you money in the long run.
For the Private channel, we have to post as a user? Correct?
To get it to function yes. For your use case that may or may not make sense.
Can it clean windows with a curved top, or do they have to be a rectangle?
it can to shallow arcs. Basically picture a 12" x 12" square and if it could easily and smoothly move in and out of the arc or not.
I don't care...

Your parents must hate you
The dude rn:😭😭😭
Ok… feel better telling everyone that?
@@TDSheridanLab Yes, do you care?
Well I got mine for $300 very cost effective if you ask me😂
$300 for a possibly dead product sounds more like a gamble to me
@@TDSheridanLabwhat are you even yapping about?? a dead product? you pulled that out your ass
@@TDSheridanLabI don’t think you know what the word “dead” means. There are still 2017 Mac’s selling on eBay for $300 and they run Ventura fine. Mac users bug me because they act like anything but the newest machine is DOA. You’re coming from the perspective of an apple junkie that can only trade in through apple. People will be paying for these machines for years to come and they will continue receiving updates.
Actually I think your math is wrong. 2017 + 7 = 2024 so your example is just in its last year of support. So it will continue to get updates until the end of the support cycle. Which then after that date from apple, security and technology point of view it’s a dead product.
@@TDSheridanLab the thing you’re missing is people still find use for these laptops wether it receives updates only matter to certain people there are still people using MacBooks from 2012. Just because it’s not receiving updates doesn’t mean it’s dead it’s still a laptop capable of getting the job done for the everyday person. $300 for a laptop that retails at 700+ is cost effective for MY use still receives updates and it does everything I need it to do if I needed it to be a power house I would invest in something better than a laptop anyways
Do you think that applies to apple chips? You never know
Yes, Apple has been making cell phone cpus for a long time. The support on iPhone/ipad is 5 years. Or less for first gen redesigns.
but the chassis at least isn’t first generation they started it in 2018. And keep in mind the life expectancy of an iphone or an iPad is less than 3 years anyway, but for Macs people keep using them for over 10 years, Mind you I use a mid 2012 15inch MacBook pro running open core legacy on Mac os Sonoma, aftermarket support for those machines will definitely prolong their life
