    your mystery "electrical" connection which is actually mechanical, that pulls to the right of the car, is to open the hood from the inside, even though nobody fits inside the hood, it is a DOT requirement. The other cable that pulls to the left (driver) fender is the emergency mechanical cable that is supposed to pull from inside the latch. Somehow, someone left it there, not knowing how to install it and route it properly.

      @@Kirbys911Heaven If you're not strapped for cash I highly recommend getting yourself a Quickjack lift. They're around $1500 but you will use it all the time to even clean/wax your car at waist height. You can also remove your wheels and clean them on the inside on a regular basis. Get the TL because the TLX doesn't fit under the 911. The TL version will also fit under the E46 but if you have a 5 or 7 series (E39 / E38) then you will need the longer version (TLX). If you get a TL version then you can buy an extender insert plate to make it work with the 5-series. I have two of them. Best tool I have. I use it every day. /John

    It really is easy. I don’t fill the canister half full or pull the fuses. In fact, I’ve added a spin on oil filter adapter, so now I just use a spin on filter. I use an oil pan the is basically a jug with a removable drain so once the oil drains, you replace the drain and it’s a jug. So no pouring until you get to AutoZone, O’Reilly’s or wherever you recycle your oil.

    • @Kirbys911Heaven
      @Kirbys911Heaven Год назад

      Thank you @K1dPhresh1. I think pulling the fuse is probably overkill. I didn't know you could replace it with spin on filter. Great idea. Yes, was thinking of one of those drip pans too. I was wondering how that type handles the initial splash but that is probably something any solution has. Thanks for the comment!

      @@Kirbys911Heaven LN Engineering offers the spins on filter adapter. I got a cheap drain pan/jug from Auto Zone or wherever. It splashes too but I keep a few big Amazon boxes in the garage to throw down when I change my oil and toss them when I’m done.

    Had a 968 tip in high school and it sucked. All my p cars are manual but….I just bought my wife an 05 boxster tip and I’ve actually really enjoyed it just in auto mode. I was really impressed with how intelligent the computer is. I’ll never get used to shifting from the steering wheel or using paddle shifters, it’s just not my kind of fun. If I lived or dealt with high traffic areas, I’d seriously consider a tip or pdk in my mid 40s.

    Good video. We were all there once. The steering is amazing, best I’ve ever driven on that front too. My engine had the dreaded bore scoring though, so it went back to the dealer. It was fast & fun while it lasted. Got a hot back, even with AC I found. You cannot see the rear spoiler when your driving and that’s a shame. I never knew whether it was up or down half the time. Parking can be hard as you can’t really see the rear quarters due to the large wheel arches, which are cool. 997.1 is a good looking car, but the engine lets it down. Get the piston barrels fixed & it’ll be a classic if not already. You can see the 1964 heritage in the .1; the Carrera 2 is all you need. I never used the centre console, too busy driving it but they do offer a touch screen replacement now for £1500.
