Very impressed. I have read Part 107 material from FAA and was having problems understanding the material. Your video made everything clear. Thanks.
It feels wrong watching this for free. I really appreciate you putting this together to help everyone out! Thanks Matt!
Seems like the only safe legal place to pilot a drone is an abandoned open field with no people or vehicles of any kind anywhere within eyesight.
Matt I downloaded the powerpoint slides and most of the sectional charts figures do not have identification (page) numbers. Do you have a solution for that?
These are the exact slides in the order shown in my video. Depending on the software you’re using, the PDF slides should have page numbers as you scroll on the right side. Sorry for the inconvenience!
I watched this video several times 3 days before my test. This was 90% of my study material. I took the test today and passed!
It's also probably similar to the ASA exams to where they have five or six different exams that they cycle through. Thank you for this video by the way, I want a head and watched everybody's videos before I took my test just to refresh myself. My situation is that of agriculture and unfortunately I am a highly restricted airspace due to the fact that the airport's runway is within 1 mile. I'm trying to get set up to be able to spray so I've been doing all my research on black permitting to fly here. It's funny though as a side tangent, the FAR's never used to say FAR/AIM and ironically my aviation school was aviation institute of maintenance (AIM) where I got my first copy of far
This video is great! Watched as a refresher the morning of my test and passed.
You can sometimes pick these up off eBay as non working for under $50 and if you're lucky, they're trivial faults, I got two of them in case I needed spares from the most broken one, to get the least broken one working and turns out one was just making bad contact with the battery grip and the other had the battery discharged to the point that the battery monitoring chip had locked it out and just needed manually recharging and the chip resetting. I've paired mine with a Canon EOS M running Magic Lantern, and being a lightweight camera compensates for the heftiness of the Ronin S. Love this budget setup to bits!
Quick informative video! Thanks man
Can i purchase your PowerPoint slides and study that alone and pass the exam?
Hey! My PowerPoint slides alone won’t get you far, especially when I go over the weather portion cause there really aren’t any notes on those slides; just images. I offer the slides for general review for the exam and for following along when watching my study guide video. Hope this helps and also feel free to use the other available videos on RUclips from other channels to help with your studies!
If I have my FAA license, but the drone I use for business weighs less than 250 grams, do I still have to register that drone? Or only if it weighs 250 g or more?
As long as the drone is under 250 grams it doesn’t need to be registered! A part 107 is still needed if you use that drone commercially 😊
@@MattKendallPhotoVideo thanks, you the real MVP
I scheduled my test 3 days ago for it to be today. Ive been watching videos and will be taking it in 7 hours at 2pm. Ive been watching different 107 review videos for the past 3 days to understand everything because everyone has a different wording when explaining something. But this video is definitely good as he covered things more clearly and in depth than others I’ve watched. Thank you Matt, and wish me luck today. Edit/update: I got 80% with only a few days of studying. Don’t pay for training or prep stuff just watch this vid and/or other test prep.
Wish you luck bro. Tell us how it went
Thank you for the input and please let me know how it goes!
What's the word!
Good update, was wondering how much I actually needed to get a guide or no. This means not at all.
Can you help verify wether or not US citizenship is in fact required? Form 8710-13 says it can take another nationality and the certified pilot can present a passport and drivers license instead.
@@CellTeam6 Non-U.S. citizens can follow the same application process as U.S. citizens to become certified drone pilots. However, all applicants must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Threat Analysis (STA) before the FAA will issue a license. Hope this helps!
What is the normal to study and pass the test? 1 month or less ?
Commenting for the algorithm. Thank you for making this video. 🙏🏽
Thanks you so much👏
Great video man, thank you
Thank you Matt- This is so thorough and helpful. I love that I could have your slides too!
This video is great, extremely informative.
BrIEf???
Decided today that I'm taking my test next Tuesday 😬
Thanks Matt
Hey Matt, I didn't see the link to the aviation communication radio you recommend, could you maybe post a link? Thanks much!
Here you go! I have it listed in my Part 107 kit! kit.co/mattkendall/faa-part-107-study-books-more
@@MattKendallPhotoVideo thank you much. Your course was helpful in putting the capstone on my studying - passed 🌠
Not all heroes wear capes this guy is him. Im gonna try to study this next 3 weeks and watch this video before my test. Love this information! Very helpful☝🏽
Thank you so much for this video! Im on my journey to taking the test and I’ve watched so many different channels and this is by far the most up to date, and probably best explanatory video out there. You’ve done a great job. Thank you again.
Don’t forget what those bombers were for.
I like your pace. I find it just right. Subbed.
You said for Class C, it's 20SM radius but isn't it adding on 20SM radius, so it would be 30 SM?
It is 20NM. I thought the same thing when I was studying for the exam years ago. It’s 20NM surrounding the inner and outer cores of class C. The FAA does this to allow incoming traffic to announce position and request access to the airspace. Hope this helps!
@@MattKendallPhotoVideo Thanks so much! So basically for Class C, the total radius will always be 20SM radius, aka there's a horizontal buffer of 10SM from the outer core? Cramming for the exam on Tuesday rn haha
@@skylerflysIt will be 10NM for the outer core and 20NM radius total beyond that. The question the FAA asks will be easier than you think! Just note it’s measured in Nautical Miles! Best of luck on your exam!
What's the name of the brand that manufactures those heavy duty cases? Thank you.
The hard case in this video was purchased through Harbor Freight. I have similar cases I can share with you through my kit link! kit.co/mattkendall/travel-gear-for-your-camera
Very impressive video Mark. Clear, concise and detailed with great graphics. Easy to understand with a lot of the mystery taken out of the weather abbreviations which, at first, were overwhelming. Three stars.
Incredible information man!!! A great subject matter expert...
Matt this was so helpful, I'm scheduled for my exam in a week. I'll be rewatching this video several more times. Thanks for the hard work.
Just passed with a 92%. Watched your video and another on RUclips as well. But I also completed the PilotInstitute course as well. These videos gave me confidence I knew most of what was needed. Thank you!
Is there a website where you can download airport sectional charts for free
Not that I know of, but you can go to SkyVector (flight planning) and screen shot the portion of the sectional chart you need. Not only that, but SkyVector also list TFR's that change from day-to-day, as well as local weather conditions at that airport.
Great and very well delivered training video - very thorough. Thank you
I’m confused. Quiz time. You stated a sUAS can weigh between .55 and 55 lbs. but, the answer you said was correct was A) Less than 55 lbs. … Should the answer be C) 55 lbs or less? If it’s A, it means you cannot have a 55 lb drone. Please help me understand.
Of course! The FAA defines a sUAS as a drone weighing less than 55lbs. The answer is A because that is how the FAA defines it in the FAR/AIM. It would make sense to assume 55lbs or less, but since that is not the exact wording by the FAA it will be counted wrong. Hope this helps!
@@MattKendallPhotoVideo Thanks! I guess I’ve always had problems with the word “between”. So I guess the weight of a drone is .56 to 54.9….
I have to be honest, I just clicked on this video and am thrilled with the comments. In January, I studied extremely hard and fell one question short of passing my 107 exam. I hope these comments are true and this video will make a difference! If anyone has any tips and tricks or ways to be less nervous... all is appreciated!!!
Only Chuck Norris can land on runway 37!
Watching this video a few hours before my test
How’d it go
Did ya pass?
Where can the new rules for flying over people be found?
Here you go! Hope this helps! 😊 www.faa.gov/uas/commercial_operators/part_107_waivers#:~:text=The%20Operations%20Over%20People%20rule,requirements%20defined%20in%20the%20rule.
The first question confused me. The drone must with between 0.55 and 55lbs. Why is the answer "less than 55lbs" and not "55lbs or less"? I understand those are two different things. Why can the drone not weigh exactly 55lbs?
I understand! The question definitely can go either way when you look at it. The FAA defines a small UAS as an unmanned aircraft weighing less than 55lbs. If you look up the definition in the FAR/AIM it also specifies it as such, which is the reason the answer is "less than 55lbs" instead of the other option. Hope this helps!
I recorded a whole wedding easily with 32g your a clown dude. Learned nothing from this video and I watched it multiple times.
You have to be 16, not 13 I believe
It’s a bit confusing! 13 years old to register drones. 16 years old to earn your part 107! Hope this helps :)
@@MattKendallPhotoVideo Got it!, thank you for clarifying!
If this isn't worth a sub, then I don't know what is. Thanks for all your help Matt. Great video!
Matt, technical question, at 42:07, you say that the Barnes Co Airport is in Class C airspace. I'm a little confused on this one. Isn't the faded magenta circle around the airport representative of Class E airspace? Thanks!
@@nickoricko4564Hey! Thank you for bringing this to my attention! You are correct. Barnes County Airport is in fact inside of Class E airspace. I misspoke while making the video. Thanks again for watching and great observation!
Wait, what? minute 42... Barnes Co airport is in class "C" airspace? Looks like it's in class G with a class E above it starting at 700 ft AGL. What am I missing?! Sorry, should've watched further. You did land on G but yeah, I think you said "C"!!
Thanks for pointing this out! The answer is class G but I misspoke about the airspace for Barnes County cause that is Class E! Thank you for bringing this to my attention and hope your studies are going well!

Hey Matt, this is a really excellent resource. I'll be studying this in depth over the next couple weeks as I prep. Commenting to help your analytics :)
Thank you so much. I watched this last night, after two weeks of studying with other sources, and I passed today with a 93% on my first try. Your video helped me realize that I knew almost everything you covered and made me feel confident when going to sleep last night that I’d pass today. It also helped clarify a few things. Thank you!
