Pt2 'Bermuda' & other hill-climbs Marysville '78-'79 on Super8 film
Просмотров 66521 день назад
This footage is from 3 separate rides, and filmed by two Super8 cameras (one with sound). Riders were: Peter, Stuffa, Brian, Boggy, Trevor and me Gerry. As was the usual thing, we'd mess around for hours on end on three of the most difficult hills we could find, including 'Bermuda Hill', named by mate Bruce (not on these rides) for its mysterious powers in stopping bikes from reaching the top. ...
Pt1 'Bermuda' & other hill-climbs Marysville '78-'79 on Super8 film

In our early days of dirt riding, we were always attracted to big steep hills. Here we have brother Peter, Woody, Brian, Barry (Boggy), Trevor and me (Gerry) punishing ourselves and our bikes on a couple of hills in the Marysville area. The first in this video was aptly named ‘Bermuda Hill’ because of the mysterious forces it seemed to posses in preventing our bikes from reaching the top! Getti...

Shot in silent Super8 film and converted to mp4, this long weekend away for us brothers: me Gerry 25 (’78 IT175E), Peter 22 (’80 IT175G), John 18 (’80 IT175G), and brother-in-law Brian 19 (’79 PE175N), was your typical weekend away in the good old days of the 70’s and 80’s. We had many like this, many Sunday rides, but long weekend campouts like this were the best. What was it like back then? T...

Seven y/o Mason cuts a hot lap in slippery conditions with with chest-cam rolling

After consistent Easter rains, our slippery MX track certainly put Mason's mud-riding skills to the test, but not only did he stay aboard, he put in a ripper time aboard his KTM 50sx Factory Edition.

The Easter rains left our MX track in a slippery state, so Mimi on her KTM SX-E5 avoided some sections to put down a 'hot lap' with her brother Mason in tow filming with a chest-cam on Mum's CRF110. At the end of her lap she asks him 'was I good'?!

dude, that looks hella fun. For some reason this vid popped up random LOL , fantastic.
Hey, thanks!
Sick track!
Thanks mate!
Great video mate. I was shocked it was Straila. My 1st bike. SUZUKI 1984 PE 175. At 16 in 86. Current bike 2003 KTM525EXC. Owned since new. The PE was on the cusp of really good long travel suspension and ergo's. The FULL FLOATER rear suspension was really good. But the KTM is amazing and still holds up against new bikes. The major things haven't changed much in the last 25years really. I've got moto and more content. KEEP IT REAL ON THE BACK WHEEL 🤙
What State is this in? Too many Marysville towns, CA, WA, Ohio, I used to race Marysville CA in the 70s. Good memories of the 70s...😊
Victoria Australia actually. I didn't realise there was that many!🇦🇺
Haha, and I didn't realize that you were not referring to the USA. Either way, it was a great time to be young and on a dirt bike. I had 74 and 76 Elsinore 125s, 78 RM 125 and a 78 CR250R. I sure miss the Red Rocket...
We still have Super 8 film of the 1974 Hangtown race and a bunch of photos from Sears Point TRANS AMA from 1976.
@billfoster213 that's awesome Bill, you should get it converted to mp4 and post it. Nice to hear about your bikes from the Golden era. It sure was a lot of fun hey!
@@billfoster213we dabbled in classic mx 20+ yrs ago. You might be interested in my channel classicMXlegends
Motors have changed but the power they had enough. It was just the suspension
And ergo's. Check out the laid back handle bars. Soo cool!
I would add brakes.
Great video bro .... Plenty of old school dinosaurs IT400F ,RM's , TT500 , just to mention a few of them , ..no fancy inverted suspension on these old school bones shakers.. I challenge any young whipper snapper to jump onboard any of these beasts & ride it the same way they ride their new model bikes .. They Buck like a Rodeo Bull. & starting them up was a test for many as the compression kickback could throw an adult over the Bars or break a persons foot .... ahhhh many fond memories of the days before the safety rider equipment of today's world wasn't so advanced I still Carry the scar's lol .
Rippin'
Good old days
Looks a lot like the Pennsylvania countryside I grew up riding (didn't grow up riding, asked for a dirtbike forever, and they for some reason bought my nerd brother one lol, so i had to learn to ride his). Beautiful.
Very cool, and I love that you took the time to write the backstory
Dont mind w/this music : it will be ever BETTER than any modern "international disco crap" called (fake) "R&B" or "rap" & recorded with autotune plus other fancy SH*** filters !! R'n Roll 'll NEVER die ^^ About hill climbing, I remember in the '80s when during french enduros friends of mine run 2 or 3 lightened/ modified Yam'500XT's w/updated (sometimes frames &) suspensions : the unaware public mocked these (rather old) thumpers compared to top notch 2S. ... but on muddy climbs the XT's run at the top in ONE "trial like" strike. For most of 2S bikes, excepted for pro-riders it was a lot of epic fails ^_^ Have a good day !
Thanks for your comments, the XT's and TT's were indeed amazing old machines. Rode one for the first time in '76 - a mate bought one as soon as they were released onto the market. They were heavy but they sure were fun to ride!
... somethings like that ;-) ruclips.net/video/dF8qxwydEos/видео.html
Hi from FR : nice memories !! I was 20 in '79 ... since '75 /76 w/mates we rode Honda 125's & 500XT's on illegal "MX /enduro /trial" terrain in Vincennes woods :)) I remember epic hide and seek games w/gendarmes riding road bikes ; they performed very well even for off-road pursuit For the times, your mates & you got very top notch trail /enduro bikes
Awesome footage mate!
Cheers mate!
Great video Gerry and awesome editing. Love seeing this old footage
Had a 78 PE 175 in 1980, 15 yrs old. Great trail bike, could ride all day with big yellow tank Good video, thanks for sharing
Yes the PE was a great all-round bike, in handling and power delivery. It was definitely superior to the IT-175E that I rode👌
Wow, great footage. You guys were completely fearless and very skilled! Reminded me of riding dirt bikes in the 70s growing up in Colorado. All the best to you from USA.
Thank you!
Chromite mine back in the day you could ride into lake tali karng and through black soil gully great super 8 of back in the day that was real adventure riding hope the lads are still riding great effort from the camera man that brings back a lot of fond memories of licola and high country rides I hope little john is still riding around up there somewhere Thanks for sharing PS we use to camp on Jeff trails property (dargo side) quite often through 80s and 90s
Thanks mate, nice to hear you've enjoyed God's own country as much as we have
I’m getting an RM80
F4U-5 was without a doubt the best Corsair of them all.
Thought this was the FAH 609, Soto's plane. Thank God it isn't (I think it's the 606), because 609 is a national treasure.
Great stuff mate , not as good as Boagies but not bad !
Awesome video ! Well done Mason and Charlie
Keep up the good work! Good luck with growing your channel. Have you heard of SMZeus . c o m?! I think it would really help you grow your channel.
Hey mate thinking of doing this track in Feb , what tire pressures did you run ?
Can't remember mate but probably somewhere between 14-16. Running extra heavy duty tubes. Traction generally not an issue in Feb.
Great riding on tricky conditions.
I am so happy to find this video. This Corsair belonged to the Honduran Air Force. The markings represent my country. If anyone has information on the owner please let me know. Honduras has only a few remaining and it is amazing to see this one still flying
Sorry to say that this Corsair is being sold and is now on the market. It lives at the Tyabb airport in Victoria Australia. The owner recently advertised it. It's a beautiful looking bird in the Honduran Air force colours.
Very nice, Kittyhawks/Warhawks, Spitfires, Mustangs, Hurricane and numerous other Australian warbirds!
Thanks for posting this video, I stumbled across it by chance. I also went in VH-BOB back in November 1999, money well spent! One of the things that stand out in my memory is how loud this thing was for the occupants, it would have been hell for those long bomber escort runs over Germany in the closing part of WW2. I'll have to dig out my video and load that to youtube also.
more info would be nice
We'd love to use a clip of your video with permission for our Best Of Airshow March 2016.
Trés belle prise de vue....
