Coastal Bike Tour - Salinas to San Luis Obispo
Просмотров 222Год назад
We took a fun 2 day ride down Hwy 1 (aka. Pacific Coast Highway or PCH) from Salinas to San Luis Obispo. We enjoyed a relaxing stop for coffee & pastries at Alta Cafe in Monterey, and then lunch/beers at the Big Sur Taphouse halfway through the first day. Paul's Slide just south of Big Sur and Lucia (mile 73 on our route) is still technically closed, but is passable by bicycle after 6pm when th...

2015-2019 Outback (5th gen) front end clunking rattling noise FIXED!
Просмотров 48 тыс.3 года назад
As of 1/24/22: 88 likes, 1 dislike My 2016 Outback 3.6R had the notorious clunking/rattling noise coming from the front left of the car when driving over small bumps and potholes. It was really obvious and annoying when driving wash boarded gravel roads, or when the left tires drove over raised lane divider bumps. This video walks through the procedure to fix the issue, per Subaru's technical s...
5th Gen 2016 Outback 3.6R with WRX mufflers - finished comparison
Просмотров 22 тыс.3 года назад
OEM mufflers from a 2017 WRX bolted up on my 2016 Outback 3.6R, but some slight modifications had to be made to clear the bumper cover. I had a shop cut off the tips and then add in a short section of pipe to help angle them down. A little bit of the plastic on the bottom of the bumper cover needed to be trimmed to accommodate the extra width from the extra tip, but this was quickly resolved wi...
2016 Outback 3.6R with 2017 WRX mufflers - test fit
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.3 года назад
The mufflers from a 2017 WRX bolted on directly to my 2016 Outback 3.6R. However, since my OEM muffler tips are downturned and the WRX tips are straight, the WRX mufflers hit the bottom of the bumper cover. This prevents them from going up far enough to reach the hangers, they need to up about another 1.5 inches. Next step will be to get a muffler shop to turn down the tips about 30 degrees and...
Replacing spark plugs on a Honda CRV 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016

As of 1/24/22: 987 likes, 33 dislikes In this video I show the process for replacing the spark plugs on a 2012-2016 Honda CR-V (shown on a 2013 EX-L). It is a very simple procedure - if you can change your oil you can do this. The local dealer wanted $250 for this service, but it can be done in your own garage for $50 in parts in under half an hour. NGK Iridium plugs: ILZKR7B-11S Torque spec (n...
Hella Twin Trumpet horn install on a Honda CBR600RR motorcycle

As of 1/24/22: 123 likes, 21 dislikes The stock horn (singular) on my 2004 CBR600RR was functional, but I disliked the roadrunner "meep meep" sound they put out. I searched for a louder and more attention-grabbing set of horns and stumbled across the popular Hella Twin Trumpets. They are relatively compact for the amount of sound they put out, inexpensive, and had good ratings on Amazon. Compar...
2012 -2014 Honda CRV microphone buzz and static fix (also for 2012 - 2013 Civic)

As of 1/24/22: 535 likes, 12 dislikes This video demonstrates the procedure to fix a common problem on 2012-2014 Honda CR-V EX/EX-L, and 2012-2013 Civic EX/EX-L/Si. Many owners report a loud buzzing or static noise heard by the recipient of their calls while using the Hands Free Link (bluetooth) system in the car. The problem has been identified by Honda as a faulty mic, and there is a service ...
Commuting in the Bay Area in 2018

This is a quick (sped up) glimpse of a portion of my commute in the Bay Area. Traffic was admittedly worse than usual on this day, but this type of traffic is not uncommon either. Feeling thankful for being able to ride, and for Bay Area motorists who generally leave motorcyclists more space to split/filter when they are able to (and can actually see them). To my fellow riders - splitting is a ...
G35 front brake pad replacement - 2003 2004 2005 2006 - same as 350Z

As of 1/24/22: 824 likes, 21 dislikes In this video I demonstrate how to properly replace the front brake pads on a 2003-2006 Infiniti G35 or Nissan 350Z (nearly identical procedure). This video shows the process on a 2006 G35 sedan. This is an easy task if you have the required tools, and should only take you 30-60 minutes. As of 1/24/22: 843 likes, 78 dislikes In this video I demonstrate how to change the rear brake pads on our 2013 Honda CR-V AWD. The procedure will be exactly the same for model years 2012-2016, 2WD and AWD. This is a relatively simple job that almost anyone can tackle as long as you have the required tools. My buddy and I decided to meet up in SLO and check out some of the local canyon roads on our Honda CBR600RR's. Hwy 58 was absolutely fantastic with lots of smooth sweepers and hardly any traffic. Hwy 229 was my personal favorite with some lower speed technical sections. There was a little bit of gravel in places, most likely due to heavy rain a few days prior. Hwy 41 just west of Creston was as...

Does this sound like it's the suspension? I have a clunk at low speeds I've been trying to find forever with no luck. Everything in the suspension feels good. I even replaced the control arms. If this fixes it I may hug you.

Local Honda dealership quoted $350 for changing out plugs on my wife's CRV.😑 I literally laughed at the tech when he said it would take an hour to do. He also suggested the cabin and engine air filters for an extra 200. I did decline. How you keep that bay so clean? Wow! Thanks for the vid, was trying to figure out plug numbers and your video was suggested. Top notch and direct to the point and addressed concerns about the anti-sieze I was having. Cheers!

If you go to buy dielectric grease, look at the label. Mine said 100% petroleum jelly, cost $20. Went next door to CVS, jar of Vaseline 10 times the size…. $2, ingredients…. 100% petroleum jelly.

So at 2:24, "So, we're under the cowl now...". Man I wish you'd have shown that access panel better in relation to the rest of the under car. For those of you who may wonder exactly where it's at... it's right under the front of the car practically in line with the front of the hood. You don't really have to slide under the car to see it, it's visible just by looking under the front of the car. Of course to actually get the panel off and loosen the bolt you have to be under the car. My bolt wouldn't budge with all my weight pulling it like doing a chin-up instead dragged me up, over 200 pounds. I smacked it with a small sledge hammer, it worked to loosen it.

If I torqued one of the spark plugs to 16 ft lbs by mistake instead of 13, does anyone think I should remove it and re-torque to 13 ft lbs? Or is the washer already crushed and useless? Or just leave it? Thanks.

Probably way late on this reply, but you can rotate the plug with the tube to get it started on the thread. Hard to do with a magnet.
