Stunning
Loretta and Jason's channel said i should come by and have a watch, I'm on video #2 and wavin 🖐😎👍 And a sub while I'm here 👍
@@canajian thanks for watching! I appreciate the sub. I’m gonna be honest, our first handful of videos are a little… awkward. 😬
@@mattandmouselol awkward happens. 😂
Surely this will put you over your needed hours! Also...only 41 to go! Get training Matt! 💪💪💪
@@lorettaandjasonoffgrid :). Thanks for watching the ‘silent movie’ - if you’d like I can send you a directors cut with all the missing movie quotes and silly banter ;) hours are pretty good thanks. Working on the last few subscribers to join the channel !
awesome job. I am very impressed. You use the square to line up your screws. I like it.😊
Im a little OCD and like to try and keep things symmetrical. Dont even start on things like the light switch finger plate screws. They must ALL be aligned vertically. :) Now, there are occasions where I do eyeball it when it won’t be visible… but shhhhh!!!
@@mattandmouse lol there’s nothing wrong with things being in line🤪😉
All right, another Subscription love the video😊
@@ThompsonKell-xc5mz thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it. We had a great trip that day.
Oh man, that’s not good. I hope you’re OK.
@@exploringmybackyard it was unpleasant and I’m sad to say, not my first wasp ambush. I think they have me on a list somewhere !! Swelling has subsided now thanks although at the risk of sounding dramatic, I might be part wasp dna now.
Hey guys, the power station will come in handy for sure. One day I would love to check out that fire tower that is awesome. It sure is amazing the amount of work that went into rebuilding the road in such a short period. Hope you’re having a great long weekend.
@@exploringmybackyard you too ! It’s gonna be a warm one.

Good list and information!
@@SergeantsTalkTv thanks for watching. This is a few years old now And I’m sure we could add a few things. Like ‘check Wild Fire response times to the area!’

Smart move to get rid of what we call widow makers.
@@bigmikesadventures9902 I agree. This one has been on my radar since I noticed the huge crack. We have another four dead-standing that need to be addressed as well, the work is never done. 😀
Came over from MT Homestead to support your channel. Really enjoyed this video and wish you luck on building your dream cabin in the future.
@@bigmikesadventures9902 Thanks Big Mike, I appreciate you checking us out. Have an awesome week!
Never ending jobs keeps you busy, if nothing else you will have a fire burning all the time to fight off the mosquitos with the smoke. Thanks for sharing!
In all honesty, the variety of the jobs keeps me interested and invested. Thanks for watching :-)
Love this video, it reminds me of me when I build things on our homestead. Over thinking is the key to making things harder than they really are..
Absolutely. Im consciously trying to balance simpicity vs 'I dont want to have to rebuild this' Often, by the time I am physically building it, I've already 'virtually' built it a number of times in my head.
I always watch the first video before I subscribe and guys we really like you both and look forward to watching your channel.
Thanks! The first dozen videos were such a learning process and trying to find a style that worked and didn't take months to edit. Not to mention the whole 'what do we say?' conundrum :-)
Listen to Mouse and clear the trees and make a path to the lake.
Yes. It's on the list!! Im going to try and make some progress on this at the weekend. It was the main draw to buying this property in the first place, so we really want to enjoy this feature.
Such a great and fascinating journey into the woods, thanks for sharing your interesting work
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching :-)
Great Job! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for these bunkie videos. The info is a huge help. But even better is seeing you folks just going through this process. It's a great encouragement to us that we can do it too.
@@denisebrooks4513 thanks for watching. It’s a journey with ups and downs, but overall it’s been a blast! And anyone CAN do it, I am in no way special - how do you know you can’t do it unless you try 😀

@@lorettasamworth7338 I’m working on it !! 😃🤪
Awesome guy's Use what you have your in the bush rustic is good :)
@@littlegriffoffgridalberta6837 you bet! Thanks for watching 😀
Hi guys, the path down will be challenging, but I think and result is worth it a little bit at a time. Maybe a rope to help for a little while until you get a path I think a pump and a little bit of hose would go a long way to make things a little bit easier, but none of that stuff is cheap as I’m finding out. Also, I wouldn’t mess with those bones either lol awesome video guys.
@@exploringmybackyard I have been checking out the water pumps. My challenge is the height; I need 50ft of lift. But I have found a smaller one that I can use providing 75ft of push-so putting the pump down at the bottom. That may give me a temporary solution. As for the bones, I’ve been on Fivrr looking for a witch doctor to relocate and bury them.
@@mattandmouse that’s good news on the pump and as far as finding somebody for the bones if I hear of anybody, I’ll let you know lol 😆
Cover your head when working under close quarters 😮Great vid and cool dog .

Think a slide down to the lake would still be cool! 😂 . And loving the stylish tea making 😂......cocktails next time.....maybe? 😂 x
@@user-zr2yq4ye9u maybe a full bar build ?
@@mattandmouse Absolutely!!!
Have fun enjoy life that's what we are supposed to do, Straight path to run a hose to the cabin from the lake just a few trees to move, Long power cord & pump with couple hundred feet of garden hose & you have running water :) No shortage of dry wood around ! Deer trail follows least resistance but longer route , Short route Two hands Spade start at the top where it gets steep just two scoops go down 6" two scops & repeat :) make 3or 4 then go up & down to see if to far apart,
@@littlegriffoffgridalberta6837 yup- having fun in our happy place !! Thanks for the feedback - That was one of my thoughts for the path; the dirt is very dry and dusty so I am also thinking we should support it with some timbers and rebar spikes so that it doesn’t wash away.

@@JodyWallTheGoogleGuy gonna need to find a plushy of Murray the Moose
I was feeling pretty proud of my half-built woodshed until I saw yours. Lattice was a great idea. I may or may not adopt that method when I finally get around to finishing ours.
@@SeekingRootsNovaScotia 😀 ideas are for sharing - go for it (but I want to see it when it’s done!!)
If anyone has experience with making hill steps (the cheaper the option, the better!), we are open to suggestions!
Lol Mouse has some spunk this morning! 😜 oh my goodness what an ordeal! Maybe run a water line down to the lake for next time and use a pump. Poor Matt! Positive: good exercise? Lol
She definitely had something… in all honesty it was probably a good nights sleep!
@@lorettaandjasonoffgrid yeah. I got my eye on a pump. That much exercise was a little excessive. And I think I cut out how much I actually spilt in the process!!
Great job Matt awesome work. Very attractive for a wood shed .👍🏽
@@jillbrookes4539 thanks for watching! It definitely turned out different than the original plan.
wow, I like it. You’re giving me some great ideas because I foresee a wood shed in the near future. I think the leg bolts were a fantastic idea. Awesome job guys.

@@lorettaandjasonoffgrid thanks for watching! Yeah my daughter is pretty handy and doesn’t mind getting her hands dirty with the jobs we have. Still have to make a roof but I was happy with the progress 😀 Edit: ‘OUR’ daughter. Mouse played a role there too. 😂
@@mattandmouse lol just a small role. 😂
A special trip because of the toilet. Woohoo!
@@lorettasamworth7338 do we ever ’really’ need an excuse ;)
I built mine myself. Not a single screw went into the construction except for the floor. I’m glad I didn’t use them because when the wood finally dried out and settled, screws would have been a nightmare.
That sounds like a great project. Where about did you build it? Also, is that profile pic a Lemming? I haven’t played that for years!!
@@mattandmouse yeah it's a Lemming 😂 I played that game to death. I built my cabin in Scotland on the land behind my house. All the wood arrived wet and the only way to dry it out was to build it. When it dried out the cabin was 7cm shorter.
16:37 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fun!!!! I've done the cross country skiing before but much prefer snow shoes Awwww poor Mouse fell on her butt! It's not easy but once you get a rhythm it's cool. Omg Matt too. Haha OK I'm just going to watch. This is brilliant! ❤
@@lorettaandjasonoffgrid we tried Snowboarding, Skiing and cross-country skiing. I realized as I get older, throwing myself down a hill strapped to a plank isn’t the best use of my health insurance. But we had an absolute blast; especially as it was end of season and no one there.
@@mattandmouse downhill is terrifying....never again!
Wow Matt...potty mouth! Lol. I totally get it. Ouch. I think Jason has you beat though. His "not paying attention moment" involved a sawmill that was still engaged. That was before I started filming everything. Thank goodness because I did not want to relive that moment!
🫣😬 Ok. That wins but Ouch!! I try and be so conscious that a single moment could be disastrous… still happens though.
