Next time you should try the comp track. It's a high speed directional trail that most people bike. Hikers are discourage from using that trail.
@@jeremymurrell6154 definitely will. I wanted to camp there and ride those trails but got called away too soon. For sure next time!
As far as Risk vs Reward it's not worth it! Very little flow, Highly recommend Knee pads and Elbow pads , I've ridden here several times and I stay away from Mesquite Canyon (Hiking trail) I don't believe I've tried Goat Camp but from your content I'm not interested! Thanks
@@barrettwalker5294 everyone’s risk meter is a little different and each must use their best judgement. For me, it’s like 1 mile of risky bits to 11 miles of highly rewarding and totally worth it. Definitely recommend pads.! 👍
Looks like a great trail, I have only biked the competition loops there. I think that is where most of the bikers are. How much does your E-Bike weigh? I need to try these trails in the future. Looks like a great climb, especially on my analog bike. :)
@@RowansAdventures 🤣😂🤣 it WAS really sweet on my analog bike. I’d probably kill myself on an e-bike😜
@@beyond-x Wow, that is awesome climbing on an analog bike! When you were talking about E-bikes, I thought you were riding one there. Great job!!!
@@RowansAdventures thanks! I try to keep tabs on what's open to e-bikes for viewers but I don't own one yet. I'd really like to try one!
Arizona sure has a lot of rocks! Nice riding them!
@@steveridesxc rocks and thorns. Riding the rocks recommended! 🤣

At 12:48 that's Stefanie McDaniel - she's a pro rider for Pivot (but currently recovering from knee surgery). She's a damn good! And that's funny you were there during the enduro. Right in my back yard! Love it here, glad you enjoyed it.
@@AZMTB oh that’s awesome! She was super nice. Everyone I ran into was great. Love the area and the peeps!
Try hard things. Absolutely brother. You ride exactly how I do. I love AZ trails. SW UT trails are also awesome
@@TheRicardoSanchez heck yea! Gotta get back to SW Utah! So much fun 🤩
It’s not the heat it’s the intense spotlight above trying burn a hole in your head. It feels like you could reach up and touch it. It’s like Right There. And eating burrito right before a climb….. not advisable. Ha
@@TheRicardoSanchez totally! Amazing to me how it can be so chill in the shade, and so brutal in the sun on a relatively cold day.
I really need to go and try those trails. Thanks for sharing.
@@RowansAdventures totally worth it 👍!
Nice trail choices. Two of my favorite trails on SoMo. You did really well for your first time on Holbert. As you remarked, it flows surprisingly well.
@ thanks! Holbert is a special trail that’d be fun to figure out!
Awesome bicycle rides son.
@@janiederby3654 thanks Ma! 😁
I've used SRAM components for a few decades but over the past few years have ditched the brakes for various Shimano models. I bought a simple Shimano brake bleed kit and a pint of Shimano mineral oil and have not looked back. They are easy to work on, don't require much maintenance, work great, and don't have toxic brake fluid to deal with. Oh, really nice video... thanks for that one!
@@Steve-r3g my chief complaint with SRAM is field serviceability. I definitely had better luck with those situations with Shimano. ‘Course, I’m extremely hard on them, so they do put up with a lot! 😁
@@beyond-x Yes, if that National descent is any indication you are very hard on brakes!
You still in the Phoenix area?
@@BlazingTonic2009 sadly, no. Was only down for a week for work. Definitely want to come back and explore more! Perhaps after the New Year 👍

Did u ride Granite Dells in Prescott? Very unique super tech place
@@AlexeiPavlov close- made it to Willow Lake, which was super tech fun, but didn’t make it across the highway 😤
@17:30 all you had to do was loosen the caliper bolts, squeeze the lever and tighten the bolts while squeezing the lever.. the pads would be centered.. Also, u should try Hayes A4s brakes I can hook u up for $249 PER PAIR!
@@AlexeiPavlov eh it wasn’t a centering thing, it was the pistons not pushing back in far enough- both sides were rubbing. Would love to try different brakes!

@@jeffparris7726 the Superstition Mtns look amazing. You mean Lasz Lomitas? 😉
It’s so sacred that you want to ensure you pronounce the language of the Spanish people that took over the whole area from the natives and deleted their native languages.

I destroyed my wheel at mile marker 19.6 it was about a 10 mile hike down with the bike down to Cottonwood Canyon i could kind of ride out on the double track going slow, really sucked
@@coloradocamera Oh wow that sounds horrendous! I kept envisioning having to hike the last half and how it’d probably suck as there’s no shortcuts! Sorry to hear that!
@@beyond-x it’s all good I rode it all the first time! And it’s better than whole enchilada hands down! Can’t wait for next fall to ride it again!
Those switchbacks look ridiculous, and not designed well for cycling. Maybe they did it on purpose to reduce it's desirability. I haven't done that one. Hearing about the death on that trail, I've kinda stayed away from it. When I'm on the western slop, I'm usually solo, and I don't think it's a good idea to hit the Punge solo. I had heard that there was no water on the trail, but you proved that wrong. Bring a filter and fill up so you don't die.
@@matthewhall8790 for a short section it seems there was no choice but to make them tight, other areas not so much. A water filter is always a good idea and the big creek midway is kind of ideal! 👍
