    That's a GREAT looking planter! My local greenhouse has many stunning baskets, though I find often there's just tooo much of an overwhelming punch of color going on. Maybe, it's just being a male, but I'm more drawn to a soothing relaxing combo as you have there!

    Hi! What a beautiful hanging basket! I remember when you planted it (last May, I think). I have superbena too, which I ordered from Proven Winners. Question: are yours perennial? Will you over-winter them, then they come back in the spring? I’m wondering if lantana will come back also. I’m also a southern CA gardener. Thanks!

    • @williamsgardening
      @williamsgardening День назад

      Thanks Susan. Yes, it was May. Thanks for remembering that. It's kind of tricky here with these plants. I have some that will be perennials, and some that really fizzle out through the winter. I feel like the mini vista Indigo usually will fizzle out, but the superbells and the verbena seem to be a bit more hardy and might just make it through. I have one variety "double twilight" has lasted for 3 full seasons. Some of the other varieties will only last one. My plants that are in containers seem to do better throughout winter compared to the ones in the ground. Hope this helps. As for lantana, that should make it. Those things are super hardy. I planted some in my mom's back containers 2 seasons ago and it's still going strong. 💪

      Hello there! Great question. Because we have such mild winters, and because of its placement, I think I will keep it in its location and I will see what happens. I have had great luck here in zone 10b with some of our annuals lasting throughout the winter. My coleus, however, will not make it. My calibrachoa, verbena, and supertunias are more apt to make it through. Have a great day and happy gardening. 🌱

      Hello there. Yay! That is so great to hear. Great taste! I think they might lul a bit or even die back. I have had some that have made it and some that seem to really get zapped by the winter. I have cut them back near the base before and they have come back for me. It will be interesting to see if these react the same way to a hard trim if they eventually need it. Beautiful combo! I actually did something similar this year myself in an area that was really difficult to find something that worked due to the light requirements. I planted some red compact Sunpatiens in a narrow bed along with a caladium (Party Punch). They have just thrived there. This particular caladium prefers more shade and became a monster (in a good way lol). Next year I was going to do something similar, adding more caladiums to the mix. I also have the compact purple Sunpatiens in another area. They are planted underneath a Limelight Prime Hydrangea and have done amazing. They do receive full sun in this area (I'm in 8a) so I have had to water them more than the others but the color is so pretty. I have also some Peppermint Caladiums in a container on my covered porch (with a viking pink on chocolate begonia and a red nancy dead nettle). This container is absolutely amazing (I think it's my favorite). I have been told I may be able to overwinter the caladiums. I really hope I could because I am just so happy with them. I wish they were perennials in my zone!

    Ron, you’ve done such a beautiful job with these amazing plants!! I’m curious, how many hours of sun does this front planter receive? Did you use BT or just the Proven Winners water soluble? Aww, Heather, thank you so much. You made my day with that kind compliment. You just never know how things are going to turn out and I was so happy it all worked out. Like I said in the video, my roses really struggled up until recently so I was happy they rebounded. As for the petunias, I did spray them with Captain Jacks dead bug for organic gardening. I used to only use BT, but since I started to see aphids, I use it a couple of times and it took care of the issue. The front west facing planter get's about to 6+ hours of sun a day. Oh believe me, I have some things that look stressed in my back yard right now. I'm right there with you, especially after this long heat spell. Take care and thanks again for all your kind support. This was Creekside's first year with a full online store and I was very happy with the order. I have a video titled, "Our Creekside Order is Here". The planter looks great! Are you able to find those Proven Winners at a local nursery or do you order them online?

    • @williamsgardening
      @williamsgardening Месяц назад

      Yeah, I really can't find many varieties here in our area so I do have to order them. I have found that Proven Winners Direct is a very good source. They often offer free shipping, which saves a lot. 🌱

      Thanks Donna. Yes, here in SoCal and most of California, they are an annual. Even though we don't really freeze, they do not like prolonged low temps down past 45ish. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by. :)
