Roof Repair On The Blue Gray Rocket Dirt Late Model
In an effort to curve the expense of our dirt late model project, Drew and I made the hard decision to keep and repair the fiberglass roof that came with the car. WARNING! We are not body repair professionals! This project is way out of wheel house but we are going to give it our best. Check back later to see the final product. The new blue gray Rocket is slowly coming apart. As we try to match up parts from the Mastersbilt we realize that not much is going to fit. The left front frame that was cracked will get some much needed attention. Additional brackets were added to the frame to aid in mounting the seat. With the body off the real damage shows its ugly face. Pictures of the impact really show how important safety is when racing dirt late model cars. Tracking Down Engine Performance Problems GM 602 Crate Engine MSD Ignition

Last weeks test and tune session shed some light on a developing engine performance issue. Today we will replace MSD ignition components including the coil, coil wire, cap, button, switch, and inductive pickup coil. Once all of this is swapped out we will fire it back up and see where we stand! Fingers crossed this gets us ready for Richmond Raceway for the next race. Thanks for watching!

Hello, I've got a similar regrooving machine. What is the knob that says shift for ? Also where do you guys buy the blades , my machine didn't come with any instructions as what brand blades to buy that would fit the head. Thanks for any info.

I ran my brake pressure off feel I never ran gouges
I ran the bigger wheel when ur steering rack don't turn as quick. Smaller wheel if u turn quarter turn on wheel and turns tires almost to lock run smaller wheel

Awesome job guys. Instead of over lapping I put a 90 degree 1 1/4 bend and my panels all rivet under the decking and inside of car where possible. I do that on all my dirt mod and late decking and body and my asphalt outlaw late and pro late bodies. Also read nick hoffman modified body aerodynamic tricks for a modified. I did everything he said and man it made huge difference in downforce and side bite on the cars for my outlaw late especially I can hold it flat footed almost now around the whole track at the huge half mile asphalt high bank oval I race at I lift for a split second just enough for rpms to go from 8700 to 7500 then wide open again instantly and I'm running a old nascar camping world truck Toyota motor in my outlaw car and it's a beast. It was either Nick Hoffman or Kyle strickler who did that whole write up on bodies and aerodynamics when building modifieds and dirt lates

The calipers would love a paint job
You have to run the 19 1/4 rack on the wide. Your rf tie rod needs to stay at 19 7/8 at all times to have correct turning radius. You can buy just the dual hole end for that rack to fix your issue. Shoot me a message on fb if you want ill show you what you need

Hey on the big holes why don't use a piece of aluminum patch square under the holes ! You can rivet or fiber glass over patch piece of aluminum ! Just a thought ! ☺

Well sometimes you have to make do, I have a 30 foot rule. If it looks good from the grandstand then it’s good to go.

Crate cars are better on narrow front

One question since you couldn’t put a tube inside the tube, wouldn’t it been better to split tubing and weld a patch over the crack after welding the tubing up? In fact I’d stick a gusset on the top since it was compromised
I think that would have been a better choice for the repair. We were nervous about cutting the pipe anymore as it was only holding on by a thread. In the long run we will probably cut the whole section out next year if Drew can keep the rubber on the track! LOL! The XR1 crossmember and upper a arm mounts are much better and stronger. As far as the upper section a gusset is a great idea and we will likely add that b4 assembly.
You don’t wash the chassis after last race of the season so u have a nice clean piece to re fresh over the winter??

Look closely at the frame J-Bar mount too. Known for cracking.

Just bought a masterbilt and looked over the welds and they all looked good so I bought it couple days go by I found a spot on the right frame rails where it slopes down to the front where they welded the chassis back together there isn't one on the other frame rail it's not a competitive concern I'm concerned if it will pass through with a weld there do they care as long as the weld is good I'm new to late models I just switched from karts
