ULTRAKILL Lore (Violence): Blood and War
Four months in the making, after many mental breakdowns caused by ADHD-caused executive dysfunction, the video detailing the Violence layer's lore ramifications has been completed. It's a big one. And yes, I am aware I am late to the party, but am I still the life of it?

    confused about the husks not having a soul? I was under the notion that the husks ARE former humans, and would be the only things that have souls other than some angels. So while I am on board with the whole machines have life but no soul (or rather a blended soul from all the various blood that it runs on) Not sure I think husks don't have a soul, I mean aren't they literally throwing soul fragments at you? 4:08 There are quite a few different mythological kings that could fit here. King Nimrod and a couple others could definitely fit, but I think that the most likely option would be King Caesar, AKA Julius Caesar. Though not a player in Dante's Inferno directly, Caesar is indirectly mentioned through the presence of Cassius and Brutus, his betrayers, in the layer of Treachery, and given that both of the previous Prime Souls were historical kings of massive power and influence, it would make sense that Caesar, the most famous Roman hierarch and arguably one of the most famous historical rulers of all time, would be the way to up the ante from Sisyphus. Plus, given that if he IS the next Prime Soul, he'd most likely reside in Treachery, which would be a fittingly cruel punishment by Hell to keep Caesar in the same layer as his betrayers, tormented by their presence for all eternity. Additionally, the creation of the Minotaur as a gift to Minos would fit Caesar's character perfectly. The Roman Empire appropriated the religion and mythology of the Greeks, and given that the story of Daedalus, Theseus, and the Minotaur is a GREEK story, it would make sense for Caesar to try and give respect to Minos by misinterpreting the story and gifting him a construction that represents his history, not understanding how someone might want to forget their dark past. Anyways thanks for listening to my Ted Talk

    I have a theory about hell. Could it be a machine of some sort? God made hell just like he made humanity, yet he gave humanity free will which he regretted. He then made hell right, so presumably he wanted to make hell an object that can follow his set instructions. Just like the machines in the final war. Just like humanity, god did not know hell would become alive. Here is another point on top of that. The only machine that we have seen use any language really is a gutter man, specifically the one from 7-2 who kills its blood source. Gutter man as we know are the oldest active machines in the history of ultrakill. This suggests to me that the longer a machine is alive the smarter and more “free” it becomes. Hell has been alive for far longer so it’ll naturally be incredibly intelligent. Machine intelligence could also be related to consuming blood amounts This could explain to me why god seemingly abandoned earth and heaven when humanity created machines, because it reminded him of how he built hell

    Although I fully agree with v1 being made to kill the heartmower. I think v1 was made for more then just that, v1 is capable of killing any machine he finds. Unlike all the other machines v1 and v2 are the only one to adapt (from memory) from their experience and the current state of the battle. In my opinion v1 and v2 primary design goal was to be the perfect soldier capable of adapting to anything at any moment

    • @qwertydavid8070
      @qwertydavid8070 15 дней назад

      Also, V1 is the only machine (that we know of) that is capable of instantly healing from blood by directly absorbing it through its body plating. The other machines probably have to go through some sort of complicated process to collect the blood and turn it useful, V2 has to escape our first encounter simply because we punched so many holes into him that he needed to refuel somewhere else, compare that to V1 who can literally just punch him and instantly repair. I like to imagine that, since V1 is constantly dousing himself with fresh blood, it somehow gives him more "vitality" and is what allows him to be so speedy and quick on his thinking, it might be what makes him more "alive" compared to the other machines, since he's basically drinking straight from the source all the time. Basically, fresher blood = better quality blood = better magical life-giving properties maybe??

    8:39 husks do have souls. they're humans who died and went to hell. that's how prime souls form. Minos and Sisyphus died a second time as husks before becoming prime souls.

    • @qwertydavid8070
      @qwertydavid8070 15 дней назад

      This is something that always confuses me. Were Minos and Sisyphus husks (undead people) or humans that were transported to hell?? We have paintings of both what Minos and Sisyphus looked like when they were "alive". But if they were already in hell, why are their husks so normal and human-like? Is it just because they were notable kings and so their husks were basically perfectly formed? Furthermore, were Minos and Sisyphus ALWAYS giants, or did their corpses only get like that AFTER their second death as husks by the hands of Gabriel?? Because if their husks only got like that AFTER they died, it would imply that they were normal humans before, since the size of a husk is determined by how notable you were during your human life. It wouldn't make sense for Minos and Sisyphus to be human sized husks and then turn giant just after Gabriel killed them. And this isn't even taking the Prime Souls into consideration. Are the prime souls human souls or Husk souls?? Does this mean that Sisyphus and Minos basically died three times?? I I AM CONFUSION!!

    • @e_mehran
      @e_mehran 15 дней назад

      @qwertydavid8070 @qwertydavid8070 Q1: they were husks. Minos was a king before he died, and as a husk, he became the judge of hell, most likely because he was a fair ruler. sinners and demons working for heaven isn't a new thing. look at the idols, ferrymen, (maybe) cerberi (because they are guardians of hell) and minos. their portraits could be from when they were alive, but they most likely looked human as husks because of their fame and power. the reason their corpses don't look human is because those aren't husks. They're orpses of husks and therefore rotten. Q2: Yes, the more fame and willpower = bigger and better husks. they were giants who helped their people. Q3: Husk souls human souls are the same. humans die, their souls go to hell and are born as husks. yes, they died three times. once on earth, once in hell, killed by Gabriel and another time in hell killed by V1. and every other husk has died twice.

    • @boiyousaywaht373
      @boiyousaywaht373 15 дней назад

      1. They manifested in Hell as Husks, and because of how they were seen in the eyes of others and the magnitude of their willpower, they manifested with Husks that were gigantic, fully capable of sapient thought and autonomy, and looked pretty much exactly like they did in Human life (or at least they looked perfectly human) 2. Yes they were always that huge when they lived in Hell in Husk bodies, refer to the previous point 3. It’s a human soul, the Husk is just a vessel designed for Hell to house your soul, no matter how ravenous and animalistic lesser and more monstrous husks might seem, they still house a Human soul, one who’s value (see first point for what counts towards the value) accumulated in their life on Earth is reflected in the traits of the Husk. So yes, Minos and Sisyphus died 3 times; Once on Earth in a Human body Once in Hell as Husks One final time to us as Prime Souls

    • @qwertydavid8070
      @qwertydavid8070 15 дней назад

      @@boiyousaywaht373 Is there any confirmation that the husks of Minos and Sisyphus were always gigantic? I mean I do actually completely agree with your points, I'm just curious if it's something that is officially canon. I guess I've always been confused because the paintings and concept art of both Minos and Sisyphus makes them look like normal sized humans, so imagining them as gigantic is weird. Also, the prime souls are also human sized, which is just even weirder lol.

    • @boiyousaywaht373
      @boiyousaywaht373 14 дней назад

      @@qwertydavid8070 Hakita has made memes about Minos being giant in his city, so by proxy the same would be said for Sisyphus, but I think that’s a bit too meta so let’s dig into the game for why this is the case Firstly though let’s address what you wondered about, the paintings. How do you know they were depicted as normal sized humans in those paintings? They simply depicted what they looked like with nothing to scale, and we know that’s their husks because Minos shares his crown with his Corpse in the painting and I seriously doubt Sisyphus actually went through normal human life with a molten gold lined blindfold over his eyes his entire life. If Minos did just spontaneously grow after being killed by Gabriel, my first question is what did that and what evidence do you have to that process (not accusing you of thinking this, just covering all bases), my second question is did Minos’ crown grow with him? We’ve already established that the painting is Husk Minos because of the crown, but if Minos in the painting was indeed human sized, how did the Crown grow as well? What answer is there to this that has evidence? Because if it’s all just “Well he grew after being killed by Gabriel because of weird Hell stuff” then that just seems like much more of a cop out or handwave to your own writing. Another thing is that I believe you can imagine them being that size, because you’ve already seen super sized, Human looking Husks; The Sisyphean Insurrectionists. If you look at their entry it’s stated that following the failed insurrection, likely as punishment for resisting Hell and their eternal Judgement, “their bodies were cut apart leaving behind only the bare essentials required to carry on their eternal punishment of hauling heavy boulders up the monument’s of Mankind’s arrogance and greed”. Now tell me what you see of the Insurrectionists we fight, a single arm and half their upper body missing, and we know they’re very much still alive and functioning as they were because their entry also mentions how they are mentally tortured by how closely their insurrection failed, and the mannequins prove that death is rare in Hell, at least for Husks, who still breath, think, and feel as their bodies are contorted and dismorphed to do the same thing in the bodies of Mannequins, despite how such contortions should be leaving ANYTHING dead 20 times over So, with that, we know that Insurrectionists aren’t dead, so they didn’t have a chance to go through this mystery “post mortem inflation” that people seem to think happened to Minos and Sisyphus, meaning normal looking, sapient Husks that are super sized do exist and they have always been like this, (unless you want to say that even living in Hell as husks they just randomly grew in size for some reason) meaning Minos and Sisyphus forming as large as they are because of the value of their soul all while maintaining their sapience and human appearance is not only theoretically possible but now most likely because while the Insurrectionists and the proof of their existence is present, and the fact that we do see Minos and Sisyphus at such sizes, with Minos being regarded as the “Largest HUSK ever recorded” (also note the terminology, they said his HUSK, not corpse, and you obviously know the difference) nothing states or even hints Minos or Sisyphus’ corpses grew So yes, Minos and Sisyphus were indeed always this size, they lived in Hell like titans

    You know, your theory about god vanishing around the beginning of the war isn't far off. The tenets of the violence layer are as follows: Violence against others, which is clearly detailed through the war. They swim in boiling rivers of blood like in 7-2 (though, funnily enough, there were so many casualties that the floor you stand on is literally comprised of an overpopulation of corpses and skeletal residue). Violence against oneself, suicide and self-harm detailed through the forest in 7-3. They turn into trees, and one sudden movement of a branch causes insufferable pain. Violence against GOD, machinations and unspeakable acts that directly attack the idealization of god himself, as detailed by the events leading up to the Earthmover, who is stranded in the scorching white desert, doomed to fight other Earthmovers for practical eternity.

    The gutterman is countered by the Guttertank, which can be countered by the Drone as they are pretty fast. The drones are then countered by sentries, which Sentry can easily pick the drones out of the air. From there, you can counter the Sentry with the Street Cleaner as the Street Cleaner is one of the first machines that can dodge your attacks. Then the street cleaners are countered by the Earthmovers, as what better way to counter a wall of moving fire than make the city move? Then we get to V1, then V2, and Swordsmachine! I am betting that the Drones were made by an Asian power, then the Sentries were created by an American power, then the streetcleaners by Italy or Paris. Take the Wright brothers flying in 1903 or Einstein himself saying that nuclear power could not be harnessed, yet today we fly all over the world without a care and we see nuclear energy as the future of our species. Inspiration aside, never be so sure to say something is "impossible." You may be wrong one day. It always helps to have a little humility, but that can work both ways -- sometimes an idea is false, but that does not mean every idea is false. Souls are exclusive to humanity, so that means soul cannot be created, unless a new human is born. But a soul is different than what we think a soul would be. You can still feel and hurt and think and move with blood; a soul doesn't change that. All a soul essentially does is allow the being to exist beyond death for a period of time, and it's what determines if a soul goes to Heaven or Hell after that first death. Well, he murdered Ferdinand, so Violence against Others -- straight to the blood pools. On another hand, he also fought against his country and started a world war, so he might be sent to the icy lake of Treachery, unable to bend his neck so he must take the full brunt of the freezing winds coming from Lucifer's six wings that keep them all trapped.

    Although what started the Final War may have been similar, I doubt it was because of Gavrilo Princip. It's very clear that humanity in ULTRAKILL was far more technologically advanced then we our now by WW1. And most likely, had politics different then ours due to this tech. I doubt it'll be explained, but I figure the reason for the Final War in ULTRAKILL was most likely due to different political issues and problems. Political events that could be similar, but very different due to the tech.

      @@aydinmakesthings You might right. Hakita even said once that our world isn’t ULTRAKILL’s so most notable figures don’t exist here, and many mythological characters here actually exist in there. However, Hakita also said in Dev Commentary #2 that the Final War is a really stretched out World War 1, so despite technology being very advanced even by our standards, some humans may have existed at the same time as both of our universes. Gavrilo may have shot Ferdinand with a Piercer.

    Wait how do prime souls have blood If they are manifested by sheer will? Like there are two ways this goes one its the blood of their husk body or option two they generated their own blood, nunber two makes more sense to me sinse humans can naturaly make more blood, but if prime souls can make more blood that means souls can generate blood.

    • @Shadoenix
      @Shadoenix 17 дней назад

      For something to be alive, they must have blood. A soul without blood is just an empty ghost, unable to do anything. Hakita said a while ago that Prime Souls do not necessarily need blood to survive, but by virtue of them being living beings, they must at least contain blood. This, to me, says that blood itself isn't really a resource that a Prime Soul needs to survive, but they need it simply to be alive. As for how he got the blood, his soul orb still contained enough blood to be able to turn Prime at a later time, but couldn't turn when he was held in stasis by the Flesh Prison.

    One theory that I have is that the hell expeditions happened during the great war as we see that the earthmover defense system uses hell mortars, homing orbs and a concentrated hell beam as its attacks. Further, we see the use of idols within the earthmover, both in the purging room and in the brain room. The war got SO BAD THAT THEY USED HELL AS A RESOURCE AND GOT TO (theoretically) WRATH TO COLLECT SOME MF IDOLS

    • @Shadoenix
      @Shadoenix 17 дней назад

      Not quite. The Sentry log says that their streamlined design meant they were effectively useless during the New Peace until the Hell Exploration, which implies that Hell was uncovered after the war ended. As for why the Earthmover uses hell energy and Idols... I have no clue, honestly. Might lead credence to a theory that Hell created Earthmovers within itself or augmented them in some way, sorta like how it augmented Soldiers or Stalkers.

      the reason why theres idols on earthmovers was bc it was easier to the player to understand that they needed to destroy them to deactivate the shield, so purely for gameplay purposes now for the mortar hell thing and homing orbs, i dont know, probably gameplay purposes too

    While your timeline makes sense, there is a quote from the COKM Entry that throws a wrench in it: "Due to his incredible power of will and status as a just ruler in life remembered even millenia after his death, the manifestation of his soul is the largest Husk to ever have been recorded." A millennium is 1,000 years, which given the date means Minos would have started the lust renaissance and been killed by Gabriel in about 1112.

    • @Shadoenix
      @Shadoenix 17 дней назад

      @@freddoomerthe2nd653 Minos was an actual character in classic Hellenistic Greece (lol hell), or rather… two of them. This is where it gets complicated. Wikipedia says that poets and mythologists rationalized contradictory and strange aspects of his character by assuming there were two Minoses - the first was a “good” Minos, who was so great that he became a judge of the dead with his brothers. That fits our ULTRAKILL Minos. The second is a “bad” Minos, who is responsible for bad things like the Minotaur. That also sounds like our Minos. So clearly Hakita has taken some liberties here, ignoring actual recorded phenomena, which is fine. Hakita hasn’t even read Inferno despite the game being inspired by it, in fact. But these two Minoses existed within two generations of each other, with bad Minos being named after his grandfather, good Minos. The last reference to Minos in this era was around the eighth century BC, so 700 BC. In today’s year of 2024, that was 2724 years ago - two millennia. There’s also just the common assumption that Minos lived a really long time ago. Kinda like how archangels technically are on the lower tiers of the hierarchy of angels and virtues are above them, archangels like Gabriel are supreme because, in Hakita’s words, “[they] are high ranked cause thats intuitive”. Hakita doesn’t really need a specific number, just knowing he was alive a long time ago and slapping “millennia” there is good enough and everyone understands. Furthermore, the “millennia” comment in the entry simply calls out that Minos is still remembered in the present time despite him dying *as a human* over 2,000 years ago. As said in the Filth’s entry, husks are formed not just by willpower but also recognition, where the common rabble who no one will remember become Filth and Strays but large historical characters like Genghis or Hitler or Minos, who everyone knows even though their time is long past, contributes to their husk form’s strength, size, and intelligence. That’s all it’s saying - Minos is big because we still remember him today. Him being a just ruler is in reference to the aforementioned good Minos, who became the Judge of Hell because he was so good, and he was lauded by the Gods, being the son of Zeus and Europa. Not sure about the Minotaur thing though. Not everyone can be perfect, eh?

      @@Shadoenix Yeah this is one of those really head-scratching dilemmas. ULTRAKILL being inspired by Dante's Inferno is a double edged sword. It's cool to have all these mythological figures, but making them all fit in the world is though. Like, since Minos and Sisyphus are real, does that mean that the entire greek pantheon just exists in the Ultrakill Universe??? I feel like that has BIG implications if true. It could also be possible that Sisyphus and Minos were simply normal human kings, the greek pantheon doesn't exist, and their respective mythological stories simply occurred once they were husks in hell, kind of like an alternate history world. Instead of carrying a boulder because of Zeus's punishment, Sisyphus carried a boulder because that was simply the punishment of the Greed layer. Instead of Dante's Inferno, where the punishment in hell is inspired by the myth of Sisyphus, in the Ultrakill universe the myth of sisyphus just never happened, and Sisybro only carried out his iconic punishment once he was in hell, simply because that's what everyone else had to do. It's basically a Reverse Dante's Inferno, instead of the punishments being inspired by greek myths, the punishments ALREADY existed in hell, and the actual iconic myths of Sisyphus on Minos only got carried when they were husks in hell, albeit only as a heavily modified way from the actual real life original myths. It could be a similar case with Minos, perhaps he was just a notable human king, and he didn't create the labyrinth because it already existed in hell. However, the fact that the entry calls the minotaur "a caricature of Minos's past mistakes" throws this whole theory for a loop, it implies that Minos's iconic story somehow still had to happen when he was a human, even without the greek pantheon. I mean, I have no idea what to even say about that. I don't even want to think about it because it somehow makes the story more gross if Minos's wife just...copulated with a normal bull..for no reason. Although sometimes reality is stranger than fiction, and the royalty were known for doing fucked up stuff, so it's not completely irrealsitic, but still gross.
