Over-explainting with an accent is a nightmare
LoL, I had some moments where my inner critique was telling me the same. Thanks for your honesty :]
@@chronicaberration Please dont take it personal. I probably have an accent to you. I think its good for any human to say more with less words. Aliens do it lol
hi many many options are disabled in gaea 2. like Zero border and edit mask, so can you make a new tutorial in gaea 2. Thanks in advance
To all interested - the pack is unfortunatelly not available for sale right now. I am having a legal issue with one artist from whom I purchased a tropical plant leaf atlases used in the pack. I have contacted him to settle that but he's not willing to respond and probably the pack will be pernamently removed from the store. If that happens, everyone that already purchased it will get a refund. I'm sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Man that's really unfortunate! Was in love at first sight already, is there any chances to make the pack available again without that leaf atlases? I'm betting there will be quite some people interested
@@JAMbosco Yeah, it's a bit stalemate situation. I was thinking about replacing them but honestly I'm pissed enough to pass it. Some people asked me about it so I may finally do it, but right now I'm focussed on my new project. Will see.
@@chronicaberration Cheers man, please don't get too pissed by idiots..
The Mask Node does not have an Edit button in Community Edition. :(
Hi, for some reason when I was using this map in ue5 the ground just wasn't there at all. It was working perfectly and I didn't delete anything. I even checked my undo history to see if I deleted it? If you don't no the answer at least reply to this comment. Thank you(your map is great by the way).
Just to clarify - was the landscape visible before?
Yes, it was. But it is fine now I solve the problem turns out that I accediantly deleted the landscape so I had to make another project for it and copied the landscape and pasted it on to the other map. Thanks for your reply. By the way how did you learn to make such great landscapes and maps because when I try to make my own I just delete it and never get it to look perfect?
@@Good_UE5_Game_Dev Cool. Glad you get to the bottom of it :) Thanks a lot! You know, I struggled a lot of times and I went though a lot of frustrations along the way, but despite of those moments I just keept pushing. I was my own greatest critique and I was beating myself up, but I took those blows and I tried to meet my own expectations until I felt satisfied [or quite satisfied :)]. It might be a cliche thing to say but really - practise and zealousness makes perfect. If not in a week, than in few months or years. "Never gonna give U up" ^^
@@chronicaberration Thanks
Island pack not available
can the cathedral be exported as fbx?
Yes, just like any model. Be aware though that the textures are not baked, so if you want to keep them you would have to replicate the shader setup from Unreal to your 3d software. Or bake them in Unreal.
@@chronicaberration thanks but how to bake in unreal? im new to it i only use unreal to convert to fbx
Can the whole plqce be converted to fbx? Or just the cathedral?
You can export any model from Unreal. If you want to export the terrain as well you would have to extract the height map of the landscape and then use it as a displacement in your software. So yeah, it's possible.
I don’t even know how to show a terrain how am I suppose to follow along if I’m just a random person that downloaded gaea 2.0 and want to start learning.
The tutorial was made a few months ago before the release of Gaea 2.0. You could download the older version [I was using 1.3] if you want to follow the tut.
Why this pack is not for sale rightnow?
I'm using Gaea 2 and things just don't the same way. The mask also won't let me draw.
I was using Gaea 1.3 before the release of 2.0. I would have to make an updated tutorial for 2.0 but honestly I don't have the time for that.
no wind?
Yes, the wind is set up for all foliages. It may not look so apparent on the vid, but it's there.
Looks amazing. be cool tho if you could turn the BP's into static meshes for performance.
any chance of doing a version of the Gaea file to work with Gaea 2.0 please?
Sorry, I don't have the time for that currently.
@@chronicaberration same question, but do you know off the top of your head if there are any major differences?
@@Native_Creationthere seems to be some major differences in the layout of Gaea 1.x and gaea2. You will def not be able to use Gaea2 for the first time and get something exported to Unreal just by following a Gaea 1 tutorial. I just learned that lol
Might be a little late to this train, but WOW looks fantastic, great job!
Thanks 🙏
I'm to lazy to make this... But I've always wanted to make a ball rolling game. Thanks for this in case I get time to make one in the future.
awesome! does this work in sequencer?
Unfortunatelly the sequencer can't read all the blueprint variables for some reason, so no - sorry.
Looks amazing love it! If I bring in a new terrain will the auto landscape material texture it according to its heights and slopes OR I still have to bring in layers for each texture so it knows how to lay down the textures on the terrain?
Glad to hear it! Yes, the auto material will handle grass and cliff slope layers but you still would have to paint the actual forest layer.
Great video. Thanks for sharing it and you got my like.
it was all perfect, until started duplicate, copy, etc...
What exactly is a problematic part for you?
its not a full tutorial
It's not a fully detailed proposition of what would you like to see more of.
@@chronicaberration actual import process?
@@YoungVeteran2023 After purchasing the pack on the Marketplace you simply fire up Epic Launcher, go to library, search for the pack and click "add content to a project". Done.
I wanna challenge you… Can you make a norway looking landscape with fjords and cliffs all around but still flat areas where people can live? Just Check for “Escape in the fjords” on google. Because your terrain is not natural at all. There isn’t a single flat space… thats not natural at all, or at least it feels to me like it isn’t. Maybe i challenge Gaea itself 😂😂
ruclips.net/video/me6zExnx7m8/видео.html Can you tell at 1:03 those grass have black spots flikering (due to lumen) how do i fix those
Yeah, it's often a problem on 5.0 but in later versions the Lumen quality is much better. You can try this command: r.Lumen.ScreenProbeGather.DownsampleFactor 8 The value of 8 should be enough in most cases, but you could go lower to 4. I think the default value is 16, so the lower the value the better quality.
@@chronicaberration I am using 5.4.2 , and problem started with me from 5.3 I will try your command though, but i need a solution for actual game since in shipping mode we can't use commands, using the blueprints I could do though
Does this use Nanite? If so how high poly are the meshes? Looking into this for a "decent" poly count rather than 100k+ tri per tree
By default - no. The pack relies on traditional LODs, so the vertex count is totally reasonable. Here are the numbers: Vertex Count: 30.000 - 88 tris [Trees] 13.000 - 500 tris [Rocks] 2.800 - 80 tris [Plants] 34.000 - 10.000 tris [Ground Meshes] 19.000 - 2.500 tris [Distant Mountains] Nanite Ready means just that - it's ready for it :] But the pack don't depend on it.
@@chronicaberration Amazing! Will be looking into your packs then. Thank you :)
Wow, stunning work! Will definitely keep an eye out for this one. Do you happen to also have a demo build so we can test performance?
Thanks a lot! Not at this moment but hopefully within a few days I'm gonna share it.
@@chronicaberration Looking forward to it. Was interested in checking out some other conifers besides what I currently have in my project.
@@AndreiGhenoiu drive.google.com/file/d/1xZELDQnJhBCKRkSwFdA5nCKpjIDBXHcT/view?usp=sharing Enjoy :)
@@chronicaberration Many thanks!
I normally use brushfy packs but for $89.99 for the forest pack is by far the best i ever seen, i need it asap
Thank you for the good lecture. But I don't know how to use auto-materials. And how do I add the ocean? 😢😢
You could just follow the steps in the tutorial. Make sure that you enable the Water and Impostor Baker plugins. If you want to apply the landscape material to your own map instead of using the one that comes with the pack, then simply apply "MI_Island_01" material in the "Materials" - > "Landscape" folder to your own landscape. If you are confused I would reccommend to just watch some basic lanscape tutorials, as well as how to set up an Ocean system. In short, go to Window -> Place Actors, search for "Water" and drag & drop "Water Body Ocean" to your scene. But again, the simplest solution would be to follow my steps from the tut.
Great job, i learn so much!!
How can you make texture without duplicate
Hey man. I followed your tutorial but have an issue at one point. At 22:55 of your video you say something about already having an island template but I dont have it and when I would like to import my project into a new UE5 scene the thing is not loading properly. Could you please let me know where to get the UE5 island template from, please?
It's not a template build into Unreal, it's my pack that I'm promoting here. If you are interested, you can take a look here: www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/ucreate-tropical-islands-jungle-forest

Crazy that I spent a solid few months conceptualising an entire world it's premise the look of it everything, and found it so hard to explain but seeing it here literally how I imagined it in my mind is absolutely insane, beautiful!!!
Awesome, couldn't get better feedback than that!
On a tropical island, Underneath the molten lava moon. Hangin' with the hula dancers, Askin' questions cause' they got all the answers. Puttin' on lotion! Sittin' by the ocean! Rubbin' it on my body! Awesome! Good luck with your project!

Obrigado! Fico feliz em ouvir!
You inspire me to be a better 3D artist. This a is truly mesmerizing work of art
Thanks a lot and have a productive fun!
No trees in my version :(
I understand the confusion but I stated very clearly in the description that the pack doesn't include the trees. Initially I submitted it with trees but Epic didn't allow that, coz I made them in Speedtree.
Ooo, my bad
ive had an idea for a long while that i was never able to realise, this cathedral is perfect, thank you
Glad to hear! Thanks and good luck!
Hello, Michal, great tutorial all around. Thank you! However whenever I import the file, it is only a texture in unreal engine. It seems I'm missing a step.
The texture .png files are the heightmap and splat maps, which you can use to create the same Island as you can see in the tut. The .tor files are Gaea projects that you can open up in Gaea and modify to your liking. If you want to use the heightmap, then rewatch from 24:41 so that you can see how to import it. Thanks and cheers!
Hey mate, cheers for this, Epic just dropped it off for me, and it's *exactly* what I need for the area I'm working on in my project. Absolute bang on, mate. Thanks!
Glad to hear that! Thanks!
Love to see you so some gaea 2 stuff
hi, am here from the free asset for month, and i was wondering 2 questions , would an rx 6700 xt 12gb and ryzen 7 5800x be good for unreal for making games or just environments? and the second question would it be better for me to work like 3 4 months for an environment asset and sell it on marketplace or to work much longer like 1 year n make a full game to sell on steam. i want your opinion and feedback and thanks anyway. keep up with the great work 🎉
Hey! Regarding your specs - they seems to be pretty fine for both. Making a game vs only environments in terms of compute power as far as I know doesn't make much difference, since environments themselves are taking a very huge chunk of overall compute strain. Your second question is probably one of those questions that only you yourself can answer :) If you have a real passion for making games and you CAN afford to spend at least 1 or probably more years to develop a game, then.. well.. :) Go for it! You will probably make much more money selling a game [given that you don't give up and finish it] than making packs for the marketplace. It's a really complex question that I can't answer but that's in general my thoughts.
@@chronicaberration thanks man for the reply, in the summer am going to buy the pc and start, ihave sime experinece but not that much. could you give me your dis and if i attempt some problems i could ask you and we could help eachother. thanks a lot anyway
damn looks good,
For the trees spawning on the mountain top you can actually set a max height for the foliage in the individual files. You need to then figure out what the max and min height you want is by placing a cude or empty actor in the scene, and then put them on the min and max height you want. Now input those Z-Values to the min and max height, and you will not have those foliage meshes spawn above or below anymore....
Yup, that's right. The reason I didn't mention that is because that would probably take a bit more time to set up, so working with the foliage volumes might be more convenient.
This is truly impressive. I love it so much. It's so realistic. Love the lighting 🔥🔥 Btw, can you tell me how long it took to model all of this and than setup this scene in ue5? Thanks.
Glad to hear that, thanks! It's really hard for me to answer, the whole project took me about 5 straight months to complete. So, a lot. Actually a big portion of time in terms of modelling was spend to make the modular pieces work together as parts of a bigger structure.
@@chronicaberration I See. Great job working hard for creating this amazing stuff. Results are amazing 👌👌
