I like your style Chris. Could this be done easily with the Home Depot panel fence (MicroPro Sienna Pressure Treated Wood Lattice Top Fence Panel)?? I told my sonto just build or buy the simple 6 feet high picket fence but he was set on the fence panel with 12" lattice tops, hmm.

They are the perfect lawn tractor to convert to electric. I took the motor out and sold it for parts and replaced it with a 48 volt motor, a motor controller and a 5.2 kWh lithium golf cart battery. The Kohler Courage 20 hp motor is garbage. They all fail. Fortunately since to motor does not last long the lawn tractor is usually in exceptionally good shape. The ME1004 electric motor has a long vertical shaft and is a direct replacement for the gas motor. You just bolt it to a plate and bolt the plate in place of the gas motor. If you use a motor controller, you can use a golf cart peddle throttle with the spring removed to connect to the existing gas throttle cable for motor speed control. You can add a 48 to 12 volt transformer to run the lights, the 48 volt contactor on the existing key switch, and the electric 12 volt PTO for the blades. The large battery lets you cut grass for an hour to 1.5 hrs depending on how thick it is. Just driving around it will run for 6 hrs or so. The motor is very strong and will pull a heavily loaded trailer.

Hi! I really enjoyed watching this video series on building a 6x4! I've gotten a lot of good ideas from it! I'm thinking maybe the problem with getting "hung up" on uneven ground where one tire on each side spins in the air because of the rigid frame could be alleviated by running a chain on each side between the front and rear axles. You'd still have the differential action without having to weld up the diffs with that setup. The problem might be that the wheels might have to be spaced out further to make room for the chains, which may not be desirable. Cheers!

How did you sting it up at the top? You mentioned the smooth bolts at the top and bottom but I can't picture how it's hanging.

Based on the amount of possible "dead" transmissions discussed in these comments, I'm hoping that someone might want to sell me a Primary Variable Speed Drive Pulley for my Craftsman 19.5 HP 42” LT2500 Lawn Tractor. (Sears Craftsman Model Number 944.602630). As discussed here in 2009 (for this one year only) Craftsman decided to use the problematic (plastic) General Transmission (GT/Gentrans) RS800 Transaxle. The tag attached on the transmission reads General Transmission 415663 (87007 C4) and 415663C0100033. It is a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)) and not a hydrostatic drive.

How can I attach a Polarity switch to this? For forward and reverse?

I have a Husqvarna ST 138 2015 model. when I push the forward pedal the mower goes in reverse, the reverse is okay, but the forward goes in reverse too..? Its got me beat.. Should I give this a try..?

Have you measured this things amp pull from the battery so we can see the wattage? You can just put a clamp meter on the pos or neg wire from the battery while full throttle it. Put the clamp on a "MAX" setting too you can drive around then see the max it pulled & at 10:15 I think your videos are good for what they show. All I request is the above, otherwise you show all the info that is really needed. at 14:20 that is a good test if you fully open throttle with a clamp meter too
