Looking to do this to my 63’ Fairlane. Seems like not much is different. I bought my son his first car, Foxbody 89’! You’ll hear questions coming from me soon lol
I have a fairlane 500 wagon on my hoist right now. Drove it here yesterday and I already have the old engine and trans out and it's new 5.0 HO mustang engine sitting in the engine bay on the mounts. Bolts right in! I was wondering about the rear end and I think ill be doing what you did with yours... Thanks for the great information!!!
Great video, as I understand it; power and manual boxes’ bolt-patterns are the same, I am planning on plating my frame with a manual box (vs going rack and pinion).
How is the bottoming resistance up front with the 350’ coils? I am looking at a control freak coilover kit, but the lowest spring rate they offer is 450’ (for sbf and 550’ for bbf).
Wish they were still in business.
Thank you. I was struggling to find a way to remove the door handle and window crank on my 1948 Packard Super 8.
I will attest to the 8.8 strength, especially with aftermarket axles. Several years ago, I pushed 607.5 HP through one and it did not break with abuse, and wheelies.
what is the steering setup for this car? does it use rack and pinion? i hope to have my 64 back on the ground this winter. Researching options for front suspension now. Rod and Customs, Fatman Fab. this is simple and would save me money and metal work.
What drive shaft are you using? And which conversion joint do I need? I’m using a toploader 4 speed with the 8.8 I plan on installing. Thank
this is pretty cool!!!
I'm Tom, the security guard you spoke with yesterday and your newest subscriber, come back to the museum anytime. Love the channel.
Hi Tom. As you can see we made a better vid and it was great to meet you and thanks for the lunch tip
I thought I recognized you at the Fairlane meet yesterday and today. Now I know where I know you from. If I run into you again I'll say, Hello
Don’t tell anyone you found me 😮 …. lol and kool to meet you
The company went out of business end of last year. But there are others but I can’t speak to the quality of the other stuff
Thanks for the video. I have a 64 and am hoping to install something similar, and possibly playing shock towers a bit for headers later.
Where did you get fiberglass items? My searches pull up nothing. Hook a brother up with some part numbers~
the thing I love about these cars is how light they are there like 2900 to 3100 pounds
Have made another video on the scrambler tub?
Sorry no I got it about half way polished and then other stuff got in the way. I just have to get back to it. Thanks for asking
Does anyone know if crites closing down is going to continue or get bought over? Great company, old school
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen of any subject on this era of Fairlane!
Thank you for this informative video Virgil.
You bet
What about 8.8 from a mustang?
You could, but you would have to narrow both sides. This is much easier process.
Great video. I have the CCP lowers as well. I went with the Falcon Coilover which also fits the Mustang and already had the threaded upper mount. We have the same caliper set up as well. I will be reaching out for the spring cups.
Can you please tell me what the part number was for the falcon coil overs? Thank you
@@BillMack-zz7jf the number is A231-350s.
Thank you sir
Thanks for the vid, I'd sure like to put this kit on my 65.
Does anybody know of anybody making the bonnets.
like what do you want to know
I'm a friend of Charles & France & am also a former employee of Crites' Performance. I recently purchased the molds for the Air Bonnets from the business. Soon I hope to secure a reputable foundry. I wasn't happy w/the quality of our last source & will be taking the process elsewhere. Within the next few months I plan to begin production of all 3 versions of the Air Bonnets & possibly even the 3-piece style. I will also making the Spring Relocation Kits as well... #StayTuned
@@user-hw3yx4qu6k mail me and we can chat some thunderbolted64@gmail.com
Does it have to be 2 four barrel carburetors ? This could work well for any 62 -65 Fairlane 2dr.sedan. Or even the 63 Fairlane wagon I have, with engine and transmission removed. Maybe has to be a big block 🇺🇸
Hello, is the gmail, you have listed, the only way to get ahold of Randy Osborne? I'm interested in his Duct hose. I just got Crites hoses because they are closing their doors, but I like Randy's hoses better. Was wondering if there is a number I can get ahold of him at.
yes it is ...
if you can get a hold of him .. email thunderbolted64@gmail.com
Super cool Virgil!! Thanks for showing this!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Put a Golf Cart Chassis under it and make it a driver to cruise around car shows, the looks that would get would be incredible.
What's the part number for the Purolator air filters??
Do have a video of the install
Great video Virgil.
GREAT STUFF.
58lbs?!?! NICE!! Can’t wait to get my Crites order!
good to know. im building the same car but im putting a dodge 440 in it.
Could you take a window out?
What u-joint and flange did you use
The stock one from the explorer
Do you have anything on the fuel pump?
great video. i am doing a 65 fairlane and working away bit by bit. i am not sure what gearing is in my rear end and have not taken it apart but i think the idea of swapping the whole unit out is the way to go. my question is in regards to the single leaf spring, can you tell me where you got them and what they look like. i have the original springs and they are ugly. would appreciate any direction thank you
They are mono leaf and there from Calvert racing. It’s a ez install bolt in. The only thing make sure to tell them you need the front hanger to fit the car
La música no deja escuchar el sonido del motor
Neat old car.
What was the length of the steering shaft after you shortened it? Also would like to see what you fabricated in place of the lower support plate.. My ragjoint sits far in to be able to use the original. Was thinking of using a IDIDIT bracket for the 55-57 chevy for support..
How did you end up fabricating the lower bracket? Having the same issue with my 68 falcon rag joint is inside my firewall if you could make a video on that or send pics that would be a big help
I’d love to get a full list of parts for this upgrade. I have a 1964 four door and it’s time for some upgrades!
We’ll get the rear end cut it down and call Calvert racing and get there mono leaf set up for the car. Grab the rear u joint flange from the truck you got the rear one from or call a drive line shop they can supply you with one. Make sure you have a 1 1/8 brake master cylinder if doing rear brakes
@Carburetor Cowboy - Nice work and helpful info. What is the backspacing dimension on those 9" wheels? Would you keep the same backspacing with a 10" wheel?
Yes it would be awesome if the OP would take the time and answer your question. I would also like to know.
The backspacing on the 10 inch rim would be 5 inches
Very nice video.... thanks for posting
Fantastic.
Thanks . I was just talking about this earlier today.
I did it on a 66 Ranchero and retained the column shift.
I have a 37 120C and very interested in your shock bracket how do I contact you?
Im interested in a set how do I contact you?
Nice idea. So do you have anything in the knuckle shocks?
