@@grahamlawlorshomebrewrevie8227 good man! Thanks a million. I've done their dry Irish. I added a bit of lactic acid to get the sour flavour. Came out lovely - a bit like Beamish. Seeing your nitro pour there is giving me cascade envy...
@ yes I like to add some lactic acid to some of my brews , do you not get a cascade with your brews? Are you on a nitro system
@@grahamlawlorshomebrewrevie8227 I don't have a nitro system. But after seeing your vids, I'm ordering one next week!
Nice one Graham. Is that just a corny keg or is there a special keg for using nitrogen?
Cheers no just a normal corny keg mate 🍻
Very glad to hear it turned out so well and gets your approval! Thanks for brewing the recipe and letting me know you did!
Very indeed just having a few now watching the match
Hi Graham, Im pretty new to brewing. I am about to force carbonate my stout using your method. If i am correct you are rocking the keg for 1min30 at 40pSi of your mix gas. Before connecting to your tap do you need to degass a bit or is the tap hood with a pressure that high ?
Good morning yes that’s correct about 1min 30 at 40 psi . Then pull a pint at the 40 psi see what its like , then if using a kegerator I lower the psi down after about 24 hours to 32psi so not to over carbonate . i I actually use another method sometimes that works great aswell it’s as follows 1. Fill you keg to only 18ltrs 2. Connect your gas at 40psi then burp the headspace twice just to get ride of any unwanted oxygen. 3. Disconnect the gas and turn the keg on the side . 4. Then rock the keg back and forth as in the video no gas connection. 5.Then stand up and connect gas again at 40 psi and leave for 20mins in kegerator 6. Connect and pull a pint . If it’s good happy days if not repeat 7. Probably wondering why different methods ? A few times I ended up getting stout back through my regulator and had to clean it . This does not always happen only twice. I still use both methods cheers
@grahamlawlorshomebrewrevie8227 thank you Graham. That is really helpful 🙂
So where do I find the list of ingredients? Cheers.
The ingredients are in the description mate . I enjoy cheers
Interesting idea... looks cracking in the glass, for sure. You can normally tell a non alcoholic commercial beer, to me it has a bready 'wort' like flavour.... if you've ever taken a hydrometer reading after cooling your wort, and tasted that, you'll know the flavour I mean. The Guinness 0 has a tiny bit of that, I think if they had a bit more bitterness or roast character, they'd hide it. Other beers are much more bread dough flavour. 'Big Drop' brewing had some nice beers, they hid that bread flavour quite well.
Thanks mate yes I no the taste you are on about and I was so surprised when I drank this as it hadn’t got any of those unwanted flavours at all . I gave my next door neighbor a pint to try last nt and he agreed you wouldn’t no it was a none alcoholic. Definitely recommend giving it a brew if you like a non alcoholic stout very simple and I also have another stout cold crashing now from the same grain bill that’s just under 3% so will see how that turns out 2 brews from one grain bill cheers 🍻
that looks fookin mint! clamming a guinness watching this and im not drinking for a couple more weeks haha
😂😂 enjoy it so . That was a lovely pint Matty . I might actually stick it on my list to brew again soon cheers 🍻
Great vid again, Graham 👌 I thought it would taste stronger if it's been boiled to evaporate the alcohol. Hope your keeping well bud. Dan
Alright Dan this one wasn’t boiled off mate this was cold mash and arrested fermentation. Keeping well thanks hope all is good with you cheers 🍻
Hello Graham. I have a question regarding the hops. In the video you write "EKG Hops 60 minutes to the boil". Does this mean that you boil the hops for 60 minutes or ad in the hops after 60 minutes? I usually brew IPAs where the bitterness is a lot more present compared to stouts so I just want to make sure what to do so I don't mess this up (and english isn't my first language 😅). I really appreciater your videos. Keep up the great work! :)
Alright mate 60 minutes means I add them at the start of the boil . I do love a nice IPA . Glad your enjoying my videos good luck with the brew let me no how you get on cheers 🍻
How does this compare with the 0% Guinness you did?
This is definitely nicer I had 4 pints of it last nt playing darts enjoyed them all
@grahamlawlorshomebrewrevie8227 thank you, I'll give it a try then. I was going to go for the other technique but good to know this works well. Think cold mashing fermentable grains and hot steeping thr roasted malts might give more flavour?
@ yes I would imagine it might alright wort a shot let me no how you get on
@@grahamlawlorshomebrewrevie8227 will do thanks for advice!
@ anytime
Great video. You known it's good when you can't tell if alcohol is in it or not. Sure looks good in the glass too. Excellent foam head. Cheers ! 👍🍺🥳
Cheers pal 🍻
Hi Graham, would you mind telling us how much it cost you to make this stout? eg per pint! its alright i´m used to euros living in Spain.
Good morning Chris I never broke down the price including the gas and electricity, grain it’s about €2 a pint now that’s just a rough guess and not including the time you spent at it . On the other hand you can do a extract stout kit and make 40pints for €40 but I can tell the difference between all grain and kit but saying that some kits are great cheers
Sure looks tasty, like the real deal. Very interesting video. Thanks. Cheers !
Cheers pal happy new year 🍻
@grahamlawlorshomebrewrevie8227 Happy New Year to you too. 🥳🍺👍
@germanbeeradventures2962 🍻🥂
Im on the dry January myself. I have two corny kegs of stout in the shed thats been calling my name since the start of the month😂 Im definitely going to give this a go .... thanks for posting this graham 👍 Happy new year to you
😂😂 calling you in your sleep. Defo try 10ltrs first make sure it turns out good . I think it will be because there was only a slight change in mine . Cheers pal and happy new year 🍻
Good Work! I’ve often thought about trying this maybe it’s time?! I can’t get over how well your stouts always pour, I use 70/30 and a Nukatap with stout spout but never get as good a pour….very jealous. What’s the secret? Maybe you should do a detailed video on how your temperature, lines, gas and tap are all setup as I’m sure others would be interested. There are no really good step by step guides I’ve been able to find on that or getting the carbonation right.
Cheers mate yes that’s a good idea for a videos will get to it , but I have to say sometimes I don’t get a great pour but I generally no the reason and can fix it , do you carbonate over time or force carbonation? Cheers 🍻
@ I used to force carbonate but now I just put it on the 70/30 and leave it for a couple of weeks. My problem is usually glasses of foam and no cascade…….until I burp the keg and turn the pressure down to maybe 15-20 psi. Then I get a decent pour and head but no cascade and maybe not as thick a head as a pub poured stout.
@ are you in Dublin by any chance
Nice one. The low alcohol recipe from grain to glass will be very interesting 🤔 🍻 Happy New Year 🎊
Cheers yes I am actually looking for to doing it first cold mash and seen what second brew I can get from the grain cheers 🍻
Definitely looks the part, may very well give this a go, cheers Graham🍺👍
I would definitely recommend trying it mate . I made that video yesterday but I had another sneaky glass today to try after I gave it a bit more carbonation and was very impressed , cheers 🍻
Just wondering. What system do you use for sparge water?? Thanks :-)
Alright mate when you say system I have a karlstein brew kettle I use to get my water to temp then hand sparge one jug at a time cheers 🍻
I actually prefer black heart, it’s ironic because Guinness at the moment is hard to come by so that’s the only reason I have bought black heart after being a die hard Guinness man, I personally find it has less of a metallic after taste and a lot smoother going down, it’s very sessionable 😂
There you go just goes to show everyone has different tastes as there are lots of different opinions on it . Enjoy and happy Christmas cheers 🍻
Hi, mate. I tried this and thought it was ok, I won't be buying it again when I've finished them. At the moment I'm in love with O'hara's nitro stout, it's quite expensive in the UK but it's worth it! Give that a go in one of your videos if you haven't already. They're based in County Carlow. Their red ale is supposed to be lovely too.
Cheers pal I must give it a go I am sure I can get it here no problem. Have you had London black ? I can’t get it here and was over in Liverpool recently and none there either. I made a nitro red ale was lovely and it’s a kit handy to make ruclips.net/video/IQwyiE10PYE/видео.htmlsi=t8akFV2MBqYIzNdq
Yeah, can't get London Black anywhere in Liverpool. According to their website there's a couple of places in Manchester that do it. I do want to try it, I was in London a few weeks ago and totally forgot to find a pub that did it. In other news, I cold crashed my Coopers Irish stout this week and I'm going to siphon it into my corny keg this afternoon. How long should I leave it in the keg before pressurising and drinking?
@ I personally force carbonate after kegging and have on tap straight away . Usually with in 3 weeks of brewing. I tried online aswell to see if I could get some delivered but no joy. Let me no how your brew turns out
@@grahamlawlorshomebrewrevie8227 Will do! Thanks for your help again!
The stout turned out ok-ish. I tried force carbonating it with a 70/30 mix and I got a small head but it wasn't very creamy. There is also a slight fizz to the stout which I wasn't expecting. Not sure what I did wrong. It was my first attempt and I know I must have made loads of mistakes. It tastes nice which is good, but slightly sweet. Maybe I've let too much oxygen get to it. Anyway, I'm a total noob so I'm not beating myself up too much. I will try again!
Hey man, huge fan of the videos, going to be starting on the home brewing journey in the new year. I have a couple questions for you, how much US-05 did you use in this recipe? And when you’re cold crashing, have you had any issues with suck back? And if you have, how have you dealt with that? Cheers, looking forward to your videos to come.
Cheers pal great to hear you enjoy them . one packet is enough. But I buy in bulk now big bag and put it in my freezer. I use 3 tea spoons rehydrated. When I could crash I haven’t had any suck back problems luckily as what I do is I take my airlock off and tape a pice of clean kitchen roll over the hole i actually did this so the buckets fit into the fridge but it solved me ever having to deal with suck back while cold crashing hope that helps cheers 🍻
Great thanks Mate
No problem cheers 🍻
Hi, Graham. Looks lovely that. I'm doing this brew at the moment. Do you think I'll need a 2nd fermentation? My plan was to put it straight into a 19L corny keg and add a 70/30 nitro co2 mix. Any help would be great as this is my first go!
No need for secondary, just cold crash and then add to keg and carbonate, it’s a lovely pint . Only put about 18ltrs into the keg for best carbonation results
When kegging read the comments on this video I changed a few things since I made the video ruclips.net/video/gUvAobBkMPI/видео.htmlsi=PtwFoqxTWezxeL4_
@@grahamlawlorshomebrewrevie8227 Thanks for your reply, mate. Very helpful! I was going to keg it and put the keg straight into a fridge at 4 degrees and then pressurize it. Sound ok? I'm fermenting for about 10 days (6 days in now). If anything sounds off, please let me know! I'm a total noob but I'm enjoying learning and I love Irish stout!
Personally I would cold crash for a week before putting into the keg as to let it clear and everything sink to the bottom. Then transfer to your keg and pressurize. Cheers 🍻
Thanks, Graham. I will follow your advice. Take care. @@grahamlawlorshomebrewrevie8227
Loving the videos on the fermzilla, got one now just watching reviews and tips how to use it. You are by far the best at explaining it, no shite to straight to the point.
Cheers pal no point beating around the bush . Glad you’re enjoying my videos . There great I have an IPA in mine at the moment adding hops today . Cheers 🍻
@grahamlawlorshomebrewrevie8227 cheers for the reply, what psi and temp do you usually ferment at. And do you need to add any pressure in the keg to full carb the beer or does the All rounder provide a enough fizz
@irish1759able I set my psi at 10 for first 4-5 days then bump it up to between 18-20 for the remainder of fermentation .Then cold crash you don’t need to add any c02 it has more than enough . That’s what I love about it . Temperature is also not as important when fermenting under pressure. Mine is between 18-20 degrees generally
@@grahamlawlorshomebrewrevie8227 I have a fermentation chamber so I just do my fermentation and cold crash in that. Cheers bro. Keep the vids coming
@ nice one very fancy

Murphy’s is a nice pint alright 🍻
Hiya Graham, hope your well fella. Its coming to the festive season very soon and why not I am going to do a brew this week, can I ask you about your water additions please mate. There are loads of water profiles for Guinness clones, so thought would ask about what you use mate as yours seem to come out pretty good / perfect, so why not ask the master I say Graham. I am intending to use RO water, what water additions did you add mate, also see you added latic acid into the keg, is this meant to give the Guinness "Twang" as they say Graham. Anyway, you are the expert of the Guinness clones my friend, can you advise what water additions I should add for the 19L batch using RO water please, and what water profile I should go for or aim for. All the best Graham, John 🍻
Cheers John not sure I am the expert yet 😂. I actually just use tap water no water additions at all . When I started brewing I use to mix up up but never could taste any difference. So I decided to keep it simple just tap water . I use the lactic acid for the twang on it works well about 2.5ml per 18ltr . I actually did a Guinness clone yesterday will have it on tap for Christmas all going well cheers 🍻
@@grahamlawlorshomebrewrevie8227 🍻 Cheers Graham, interesting to hear about the tap water. I am taking a wild guess that probably your tap water is a lot better than mine as ours is hard water :( They all talk about the Guinness Twang lol, I might try adding the lactic acid too. Anyway all the best mate and keep the good work up mate, have a good Christmas and expect to see a Christmas Hat on when you try the Guinness you did yesterday 🎩 🍻🍻
Yea John my tap water is ok thank god . Lucky that way makes like a lot easier. Looking forward to getting the brew on tap and i am sure I will have a Santa hat on 🎅. Happy Christmas to you have a blast and let me no how you brew turns out cheers 🍻
@@grahamlawlorshomebrewrevie8227 Will do Graham, hope you and the family have a good one too. Will be kick starting today after work 🍺🍺
Hi Graham, how did you find the Karlstein all in one? How is the Brew Monk fairing out?
Alright mate the Karlstein is a great system. I only got the brew monk because I wanted to do double batches and it has the recirculation pump . I am doing a brew today actually. I don’t use the app that came with the brew monk anymore. It was a bit problematic so brew in manual mode . Cheers 🍻
@@grahamlawlorshomebrewrevie8227 nice one good day for a brew day, I've got the Karlstein I like it pretty solid bit of kit, 👍 love the brewing reviewing videos 😎

@@grahamlawlorshomebrewrevie8227 Yes mate. Guinness is the business.
I love the black heart always have some in my fridge, been lucky enough to have it on tap at brew dog in Canary Wharf when I went to watch Peter Kay last year. I’m no stout expert obviously. Great review as always Graham cheers 👍🍻

Just tried on line can’t seem to get any London black in Ireland. That a pitty off to Liverpool in a few weeks . Might get to try it then
Black Heart, like most Brewdog beers, overly hopped with a with a bitter and burnt bite.
Unfortunately never got to taste it just back from Liverpool and none on tap anywhere
nice video - never miss an update :-)

Hi Graham. Could you do a video of the HBC All-Grain Irish stout? I made it once and I was very impressed.
I made it before pal. I think there is a video there for it . I will check 🍻
I tried the black heart, i must have bought a knock off as i thought it was pretty watery and was not impressed at all with it.
Somehow I can’t imagine you got a knockoff Jamie . Maybe give it another go 😂

Cheers Graham, just brewed my third attempt at a Guinness Draught clone. Trying to nail the spunky and roasty levels, experimented with a cold steep of the roasted barley adding it back at the end of the boil, fingers crossed it comes out nice! Happy brewing
I hope it does work out for you mate . Let me no how you get on lobby to hear the results cheers 🍻
Happy new year ! How did it work out for you mate with the cold steep
How long are your beer lines Graham, mine are 2.5 meters served at 30psi but I have a lot of foam. Are they too short
Alright mate no they are the same length roughy as mine . What temperature have you got your kegerator set at ?
I'm jus calibrating it now but I'm guessing pretty close to 1/2 degrees. I'm using 70/30 beer gas.
@ probably a bit low is it in kegerator? If so it could be over carbonating under pressure at that temperature
It is, what temp should I set it too?
@kevintennant4461 usually Guinness is served at about 5 to 7 degrees pal . Sorry though I replied all ready
Graham, Did you use 225 grams of cara special 3 as well? I didn't catch the amount. Thanks, Max I don't know if I can get the Cara malts over here in the US, so I may see what I can substitute. Thanks again, another great video!

Looks great 👍 are you going to share the recipe? Any new brewing videos on the way?
New one very soon
How long are your beer lines? And what pressure are you serving this at
Beer lines about 2m temperature 3 degrees and psi 32 because it’s in my kegerator
Hey Graham, I have the nitro setup for my stouts, but I always seem to end up with a large head (1 third of a pint) I serve it at 30psi it's a 70/30 mix, have tried lower psi to 25 but still the same? Any ideas what I'm doing wrong, beer lines are 3 meters
Alright Kevin is that straight away or as the keg gets low . Sounds like over carbonation are you force carbonating or carbonating over a week
What temperature are you serving at ? If to warm it can also get a big head
Graham mate - why bother making a clone of Guinness? It tastes of nowt these days - I did all grain brewing in the 70's and 80's and used to culture yeast from bottles of Guinness - it was a lovely drink back then but now it's a travesty. Any brewing novice can get a better pint than Guinness for 50p a pint - How? Buy a Coopers Stout kit for £15 add 1kg of dark DME (£5) and in 2 weeks time you will have a tastier brew with virtually no effort - No brainer! That aside I do really like your vids (and the accent!)
Alright mate , I have brewed nearly all the kit stouts when I started off brewing . Some are very good but not a nice as all grain . I have a lot of videos on here of the kit stouts as well as loads of different all grain . Some of my all grain are actually nicer than Guinness more flavor but each to their own everyone has different tastes . Cheers for the comment. Culturing year from a bottle of Guinness is a great idea . Glad you are enjoying my videos 🍻
Graham, i am having an issue where the heads just start getting bigger and bigger when you are getting more than half way down the corny keg. Have you had this before? Im set up just like yours and force carb just like your video. Have tried different brews (all stouts) but they ended up massive heads towards the lower half of the keg, first half is perfect.
I take it you have your keg in a kegerator if this is happening? You need to lower your psi down to about 30/32 . For now disconnect the gas post and release the gas in the head space . Then rock the keg back and fort stand up and release the gas again . Then try pulling a pint if it’s good you can connect the gas back to the post if it’s still to big repeat the shake and release. The cause of this is the cooler the stout the more carbonated it gets at the higher psi . Let me no if this works cheers
@grahamlawlorshomebrewrevie8227 no mate I am using an under shalf cooler so it takes the beer out of the keg and in to the cooler straight to the tap. The temperature of the room doesn't seem to affect as it was happening in summer and now when we are near in to winter. Do you think it could be im cooling the beer too cold?
No I dont think so . It’s what’s happening in the keg if you try what I suggested with the burping and lowering the psi it will hopefully sort it .
@@grahamlawlorshomebrewrevie8227 cheers mate will do!
Did it work pal
guinness pourer? can i have a link to this machine?
No mate it’s just a Guinness tap and nitro setup. Not a machine
