my tongue is too wide. I cant do this sound :(((

I need some help I’m new to learning Russian and I’m struggling with rolling Rs. My first and only fluent language is English. When I roll a R I make noise even if there’s no air. It’s much deeper, and like repeated Rs. It works but doesn’t sound right. I’ve watched multiple videos and I need advice. (+ my tongue is in the right place )

I’m Haitian with French as part of my native language. At the age of 7 I moved to Canada and been speaking Canadian English for 19 years. I lost the ability to speak my native language during my early years in Canada. During this whole time I never gained the ability to roll my R’s. I’m in the process of teaching myself a few new languages and beatboxing which all require me to have the ability to roll my R’s. This is my first time your channel. I think this video might help me, but how do I relax my tongue enough for it to vibrate like yours when exhaling enough air? I can feel how tense it is and air is just going right through it. Plz help. Do you have any tips for me on relaxing the stubborn tense tongue of mine haha?

I can get my tongue relaxed and in the right place and everything, but I just can’t it to vibrate???? I don’t even know what I’m doing wrong at this point, I just can’t do it😭

It’s funny you mentioned learning English that your tongue was sore. I watched the movie Moscow in the Hudson with Robin Williams and he plays a Russian learning English, and he said his tongue was sore. I didn’t know that was a true thing. Apparently it is true. Funny that it’s the other way around too because my tongue is getting tired.

Hi there, I can produce the Russian rolling R sound but most of the time it sounds like something starting with the H consonant (Hrrrr). I can do Trrrr and Drrrr to some extent. However the authentic Russian R sounds like Lrrrr, which I can't do at all. May I ask how you combine the L consonant with the rrrr sound naturally? Mine always sounds like A-Hrrrr-L.

I can't get my tongue to vibrate. It literally won't. 😡

3:27 говорите "ти" и тут же, в быстрой речи, произносите "те". "те" в конце слов не редуцируется, посмотрите даже в словаре, к примеру, в Вики Словаре. Звуки в конце слов не всегда редуцируются, особенно если слово короткое (к примеру "море").

I could never roll my R until earlier today it clicked, now it's too harsh though. I haven't been able to plug it into Russian words yet

Anastasia. Thank you. I learned french as my second language at age 4. I'm 36 now and living in Russian speaking country for 2 years. I finally can make the non throat r. Struggled with this for decades. Including with speaking Spanish which has similar tongue mechanics.
