Shop projects, home projects and other various things in between.
Hi, I'm Tim. I'm an audio engineer by trade, but I love spending time in my shop, hunting, fishing and exploring the wilderness. I'm a bit shy, so it may be a while till I show my face around here, but I'm working on that. I appreciate you taking time out of your day to watch my videos. I'll do my best to explain what it is I'm doing, but I'm still new to this so I ask your patience while I figure out my youtube stride.
I don't currently have an upload schedule, but as I figure out exactly what direction I want this channel to take, I'm sure that will change. Please subscribe so you don't miss anything!
Thank you again for watching!

lol. Cheater. Sad. Copying it from this old house video. You all go to this old house if you have even living like a stupid under a rock in a cave 😅
Has anyone had or have a very early 021 like made in 1993? I have one that uses a different style of oil pump drive. It has a larger washer type of design. Doesn’t use the metal cover washer as it has that built onto the drive. Have never found a parts pdf showing that style. The Stihl dealer was of no help as it was obvious he didn’t know much of anything, his mechanic might know but wasn’t able to ask him.
Ive been in different fields of work using cords, cables, hoses of many sizes and i have seen tons of ways to wrap them up. I must say that the "annoying, improper way" as you call it, is the only way i wrap anymore. Its so simple lol 😅! If you dont like that method, your doing it "improperly" somehow. I love your method, its great and works! Just like all the methods when done correctly.
I don’t get it
very impressive. Your staying with it and not giving up always pays off. Wonderful tribute to your Father. Much respect
Where is your winter/summer shutter? You can burn up the saw if you do not install it forward of the air filter if you use it in the hot summer.
I got mine running. It was a lot of work and expense but it is a good little saw. Mine was restored to my exacting standards - not to just get it running. I do things by the book, so I don’t have to do it, again.
Over/under is for signal cable. Power cable goes over/over clockwise.
faster way: ruclips.net/video/FsPeT_fiNkk/видео.html
If you wrapped a cord like that on a construction site, you'd be laughed off the property. A 100 ft cord would take you about 5 minutes to wrap. And you can be sure that cord will get tangled laying in the back of a truck.
If it takes 5 minutes you're doing something wrong. 100' 12/3 cable wrapped like this should take less than 30 seconds. If you've ever been to a large concert there are literally thousands of feet of cable ranging from microphone to speaker to lighting soco all the way up to 4/0 camlock feeder. All of this is typically wrapped in this fashion and load out is usually under 2 hours. This method almost guarantees no tangles and easy unwrapping the next time it's needed. I've been doing it this way for 25 years and it's been our industry standard for much longer. Thanks for watching!
If you were on a film set and you did the goofy crap construction guys do youd be asked to leave. Only thing wrong with this video is over/over is standard.
This is the standard wrapping method used by media crews. They deal with WAY more cables than construction crews.
One of the reasons paying nerd tradesmen by the hour can be a problem, and why so many dislike the principal looking over their shoulders to detect grifting. Like being onsite for household tradesmen instead of allowing absentee work while the householder is at their job elsewhere, to prevent the knicker drawer being violated and paying for searching for a porn collection after checking for home security video. Or it might just be too complex to expect construction workers to learn.
@@johnmead8437Man you need to stop rifling through other people shit when they're not home. Not cool man.
Can you use this on top of red guard
I went down to Stihl for four parts for my 021 this morning - a cover washer for the worm gear, a sprocket bearing, a air filter and a new impulse hose. My dealer had all four. The best part is the air filter actually went into the air filter housing with a snap and the cover washer fit on the crank. Something you would not always get with aftermarket parts.
Close the choke butterfly to install the choke rod into the arm on the choke arm. Sometimes, you have to squeeze it in the slot.
I have never had a new fuel line loose on the fuel barb on my saws. Usually, I have to force it on.
I put a new fuel line in my 021, yesterday. After I installed it, I pressure tested it with my Mighty Vac. It was leaking like a sieve under the grommet. I pulled it out and cleaned the surface of the tank and grommet with break cleaner. I then put a light coating of TB1184 on both surfaces. It did not leak after that. I use my nut driver with an 8M socket to push the grommet down instead of a screwdriver. I got it mostly inserted with my fingers and fingernails before using the nut driver to finish its seating.
Believe it or not, this is easier to do if you hold the end of the cable pounting away from you, not towards you. Point away allows you to control the reverse loop faster.
Try another guess? You had the right fuel line in your hand to start with but you grabbed the filter for the oil line. You have to pull the carb off to put a new fuel line in the saw. It ain’t easy if you don’t know what you are doing, as you seem not to. You do not have to pull the starter off to change the fuel line, but you will have to pull the carb off and the fuel filter to remove the fuel line. You do not have to pull off the top cover, either. You will probably have to take the cover off the rear handle to get the carb off. My suggestion is to check all the common maintenance items on the 021 before attempting to crank it. Clean and lubricate the clutch side, clean under the starter and blow it out. I know what to do but it is long and complicated to explain. I would check the spark arrestor, lubricate the sprocket bearing. While you have the handle off I would replace the oil pickup line - it is the short rubber line and the small filter goes on it. As you can tell, this ain’t my first rodeo.
Mine came out in semi dried globs. There needs to be an expiration date on this stuff!!
Solid. 92 seconds and no BS. Also very clear for my dumb a$s.
I wish I had spent the extra $20 and bought the one that came with that wind up wheel thing.
Great video
Same issues same saw. It was those Crappy aftermarket parts kits on amazon! Damn plug wires, that coil did the same thing (rotated in the plug cup and that will disconnect from the copper wire core, they are NOT soldered in the Chinese junk ones.! Mine wouldn't even take the aftermarket air filter! Thanks for the patients and video! Confirmed for me the same issues. Just had to order an OEM plug wire.
Finally, someone who makes a simple, but concise video. But I thought they recommended a 4 hour turnaround to clean of the remaining haze on the tiles?
Thanks
My name is Ian Grant and I am watching your videos from Jamaica
And you should try using the file and guide the file and guide help you to sharpen and trim your chain at the same time because everytime you sharpen the chainsaw chain depth gauge should be trim
I watch your video when you will repair the 025 chainsaw just want to tell when you are putting on a ignition coil the next time I would advise you to use a business card to get the kind that way you will not have no problem just put the business card between the car and the flywheel on japit
Do I need to use sealer over Simple Grout Premixed in my shower?
I honestly don't know, as I'm just a homeowner who wanted to make a helpful video, but if it were me I would probably seal it. I'd bet there are some grouts that don't need to be sealed, but better safe than sorry. Thanks for watching!
I know this video was years ago but do you know you used a metal cutting disk to but porcelain tile? You would be much better off using a diamond tile or masonry disk
The disks I used were mean't for masonry only. These are the ones I used. www.homedepot.com/p/Avanti-Pro-4-in-x-1-16-in-x-5-8-in-Thin-Kerf-Masonry-Cutting-Disc-PBD040063101C/202830990. Diamond would have been better, but I didn't have that in the budget just for a youtube video, plus I'm just some dude in a garage. Not a pro. Thanks for watching!
@@selfrelianceontrial5486 ah I see. They look like regular metal cutting disks from a distance.
Thanks for the share.can we use scoring tool for backsplash tile? Since the width will be smaller.Any suggestion would be helpful.
I assume you mean a mosaic tile that has smaller pieces? With patience, you probably could, but this is something I have not done. I wish I had a better answer, but I'm just a homeowner and not a professional. I've only ever worked with larger pieces of tile.
I read this premix adhesive is for smaller tiles . Is this true. I want to do a 12x24 tile on the floor
I am by no means a pro, but I think you need a thinset mortar for larger tiles. Sorry for my delayed response, I was on vacation and had very limited cell/internet service.
@@selfrelianceontrial5486 thanks bro. Have a good vacation, stay safe
Don’t do it!!! I just used this acrylpro crap on my 12x24" kitchen FLOOR tiles, they never dried, following contractor who saw the job said everyone knows Acrylpro is to be used on walls, not floors (although product does say for floors too, but says works best for small 8x 8” tiles). It might work on a small surface floor like bathroom but not a full sized kitchen. In my case I have to remove tiles and re-do them
@@elizabethchwakanowski5067 it's not the product's fault that you used it WAY outside of their recommend parameters. A 12x24" tile is 4.5 times the size of an 8x8. Your floor tile is also most likely porcelain, which is much harder and denser than ceramic and slows down evaporation of this stuff even more. It's always good to read the product guidelines before using it.
ou done good on the video i think just interruption of the head lol but do want to tell you go back into the coil and readjust it but this time use a business card between the coil and magneto put the card in there then tighten the screws down after that remove the card and your clearance will be good god bless
Thanks! I'll go back and give that a try.
Awesome videos. Thanks so much, I used all 3 step videos and it looks great.
Please please please use a respirator if not using a wet saw. Tile dust is very hazardous
Agreed. I didn't in the video for sake of making it easier to record, but I should have said something. This goes for anytime you're using a grinder.
this helped, thanks !
You're welcome!
Could you use the first option on limestone mosaics? I'm assuming not...
From what I understand, you can cut limestone tile just like any other tile. I'm not a pro though and have never worked with limestone. I would just go a bit slower. I believe limestone will chip a little easier than standard tile.
I love how you got frustrated with your clamp. I wonder what clamp would be best for tile? I guess if you clamped it down with metal that it would break the tile? I have no idea. I would be in the same boat as you where it slides all over the place.
Yeah, that was my least favorite method. I think the jigsaw would work better with a more substantial tile. Thanks for watching!
So you don’t put the whole sheet and cut at one time? And u break them out single pieces then title back in without the mesh? First time trying this and I didn’t know that.
You could put the whole sheet in. I was just demonstrating the process of how it works. Just make sure you have the mosaic perfectly square within the cutter. That way everything will line up perfectly when you put it in place.
Thanks for the share! I think I'll be avoiding the jigsaw and sticking with the grinder
Exactly my situation thanks dude!
Glad the video was helpful!
Well done , nice job !
Thank you!
@@selfrelianceontrial5486 You're welcome ,. Just bought one of these saws , your vid will come in handy !
With the jig saw, I would recommend putting a board, just wider than the tile under it just shy of the cut line. It will add support and you can actually put a few nail into it to hold the back side. Obviously the nails will have to be just shy of the top of the tile.
Nice shout out to my favorite uncle bumble, always keep the safety squints nearby.
Thanks for the vertical cut advise I broke 3 tiles was going to use my diamond blade on my angle grinder until I saw this
Very good video. I think I will try to do my backsplash....Thanks!
Would you use primer on the drywall and plaster first before applying the adhesive ? Does the adhesive stick on plaster ?
As far as I know it should stick to any CLEAN surface. In my kitchen, I put it directly onto a painted wall. That paint was flat, but I would imagine it would stick to anything less than gloss paint. For the video I put it directly onto a piece of drywall. I can't imagine that plaster would be an issue, especially if you scuff it up with a Scotch Brite pad or some sand paper. Thanks for watching the video!
thanks for the help. I thought that jigsaw stood a chance
Glad I could help!
