Good review. Id ditch the useless tool, add some meds, triple antibiotic, fire making, fishing rig, needle and thread, water pur tablets, tweezers and a micro flashlight. A fresnel would allow very close inspection of wounds

SUPER basic kit but it's a decent starting point. I would add a lighter, a multi-tool, and / or a knife.

You can use the wire to hold a Swedish log fire together.

Those gallon Ziploc bags should have been regular bags that could hold water. It was crappy to perforate them. You basically spent money on a water bottle with a silly excuse for a first aid kit. A penlight but no batteries A candle but no matches

For excellent first aid kits check out Refuge Medical. Take basic first aid and a Stop the Bleed class. Check out being trained for CERT, Community Emergency Preparedness Teams. Wear the whistle (get a higher quality whistle).

I can see them now, the aquatab mob in the distance with pitch forks ready. Joined by the iodine radiation pill mob.

Add a couple of T- candles to go with the emergency blanket.

The candle is a fire extender intended to drip the wax on any type of dry tinder to extend your fire lighting capability.

The orange whistle tube has the Ferro rod and mirror get unglued easily, it's concerning 😅

Dude be sure to put those water treatment tabs into everything. The aqua-tab aficionados will rage if you don't carry at least two with you at all times, or face the wrath of their pretentious bitterness. Put two alongside every single item inside that kit. I simply choose to boil instead, so here they come for me. LoL!

It needs a multi-tool, a knife, a flaslight and a fire starting device. I could have used this during my work in the 2020 US Census.

I had high hopes for those two bags, and then I saw the air holes. I'd rather make the kit myself, which I am doing with a 64 oz water bottle from Walmart.

What junk. The best parts the bottle and the triangle bandage.

I’m not a fan of the pre-packaged kits packed into knockoff Nalgene bottles. Nonetheless this video is worthwhile so that the casual enthusiast can make informed decisions. It’s been said a million times: build your own kits. And roll with a stainless, single walled bottle.

Suggest putting things in small clear plastic bags to waterproof them, a water filter, cell phone charger ( one time unit is ok ) Thanks, subscribed

I like this kit except for the striker , I have used the card tool to strike and it is so much better and as a can opener its great , the '' saw '' is better to use to scrape fine shavings from wood to start fires the knife is ennhhh i prefer fixed blades over folding knives Anyways ( enough scars from blade lock failures ) I no longer trust them..... ferro rod is great as long you use the card tool and not the included scraper . The flashlight is great just dont drop it.

The modifications I'd make are take the whistle. Put inside some trick birthday candles a small fishing kit and a few weatherproof matches. Then on the outside wrap a small hank of paracord.

Recommend adding a SAK Hiker as a compact multi tool and an 8 oz metal cup so you can boil water in that instead of using the foil up. Also, some tea bags or instant coffee in individual sleeves would be good. Great kit overall.

The only time a water bottle should contain a kit is when it is first purchased. After that the bottle should contain water. Find a small durable bag for the kit and add a better ferro rod, multi tool, matches, cotton balls with petroleum jelly, etc. I would recommend not using the cutting edge of any knife to get sparks from a ferro rod unless you just like sharpening them constantly. The kit is ok but could be way better.

I would add a better fire starter for one. Swap out that broken scalpel blade for a box cutter blade or even a knife. Seems like a waste to wrap that in para cord when the first thing you are going to do is unwrap it to make the contents more accessible.

Guess I should have worked my way through your videos in reverse order then I could have saved part of my suggestion from your first video. Strike anywhere matches don’t work on smooth materials. And I haven’t been able to get them to strike old west style on my jeans. Add a couple strips of fine grit sandpaper to the kit. It beats wearing out the match head trying to find a material to provide enough friction. I’m liking the 3 videos I’ve seen so far.

Compare what you paid for it, which I think is around the $30 - $35 range, to what it would cost if you built it yourself. I would look for some larger tins, say, maybe from Ultimate Survival Tips or even flea collar tins from Seresto or the like. Larger but can still fit in most trouser cargo pockets.

Need a knife, the razors are hilarious! A Clipper or Bic, and wrap the bottle in paracord. More cordage! On a side note, have you ever actually used a cigarette lighter before? That had me cackling! Scared my cat! Great vid, WGP!

That bag really did seem to be quite stiff! Any idea on the age? The compass, here's a tip to fix even the worst garbage compass that won't work no matter what you do....lay it down flat and step back three feet. You're the problem, not the compass. A scoutmaster told me that a long time ago. Pretty danged funny the way you use a compass, though! Watched that several times! That kit doesn't even cover the basics, though. SOL is kinda lame in the way they pack so many almost identical kits and leave out such and such diff item in each. You have to buy three of their kits to get one complete one! This one is no diff. Add a knife and a lighter/matches/ferro rod and you cover the basics....that flint sparker is hilarious! Eric over at Kitbashed had one blow up in his hand! Big funnies there! Get a Clipper lighter and pull the sparker assembly out and reverse it and stick it back in. Bingo! Instant mini sparker that's a hundred times better than that SOL thing. Love the bag, though! Nice vid, sir!
