Sturgis 2023 | Ride to Sturgis | Day 1 | Moki Dugway | Monument Valley
We rode Moki Dugway Utah highway 261 near Monument Valley. It's 3 miles of gravel switchbacks with plenty of pull-outs to take-in all the scenery. It's definitely a bucket list ride.

Sounds great
is start, but after take out jump cable the bike turn off again
That's ok for Bikes with that open type of framework, & You can quite easily get to the startermotor, but not for Softail models, on Softails the horseshoe shaped oil tank sits just above the startermotor & the gap between them is too small, You can't even get Your fingers in there let alone Your hand or the leads for the jumpstarter, so You're stuck with having to remove the seat first.
Does the information button still work? Air temp Oil pressure?
That’s a awesome idea
Thanks for this video I recently lost some of the strength in my right hand due to a mini stroke and was having a hell of a time getting a fork cap back on . Strap worked like a charm.
Glad it worked out for you! Even with two strong arms it's a chore. Ride safe, thanks for watching.
Awesome! I'm considering that cam next year. I'm going to put a stage I on in 2 months but wondering is it worth the upgrade. I ride two-up about 70% I'm out on my bike and worry about a big fuel milege loss. How is yours? But you may not ride two up.
My 2017 stock would get 40 MPG ish, with my upgrades I'm at 38 mpg. However, I have a very rich tune to keep my engine as cool as possible. I live in AZ so keeping the engine is my priority. My rich tune is keeping my engine 12-15 degrees cooler. Is it worth it? My personal opinion, it's night and day difference with a stage 2. Especially when riding two up. Good luck!
@newazhorizons9945 That's not bad. I'm guessing my will decrease alot while riding two up with my wife.
Good advice , but positive 1st
Kyle, thanks for watching. In this application it doesn't matter, negative or positive first. The jumper box is not active until a proper connection is made. So, there is no possibility of arcing. But I agree it's a good habit to develop.
Sounds great! I’ve done the same cam on 114 Street Glide and I love it. Great video and info.
Great to hear you're enjoying your ride. Thanks for watching!
Hey...what audio setup do you have?
I have the Soundstream Reserve HDHU.14+ with 6.5 MMAT speakers (waterproof) and a Rockford Fosgate Punch Amp PB@ 300x2 (300 watt). Thank you for watching.
Great idea thanks for the video!!!
So you said. "I seen a few folks on RUclips, couple RUclipsrs Annnnd at least 2 of my friends when they use their battery pack to jumpstart their bike err to jumpstart the bike with their car they take the seat off." ... Ok makes sense. I think you meant to say "I seen a few folks on RUclips, couple RUclipsrs who have already covered this very basic information" and then you realized that your video just simply wasn't needed or wanted so you said "Annnnd my 2 friends are slow". Your like that guy who when he hears the answer to something he immediately shouts it out loud and pretends he didn't hear the answer given. my hats off to you sir.
Those mountain views were incredible loved the snow caps 😍 looks like an amazing ride🏍 the music was spot on. Thanks for sharing 👍 😘💕🥰
Wow! Some incredible views. Loved it. 💕
That road looked Sketchy. But great camera work as always 👌
No need for head work on a M8 Even the screaming eagle head that comes in the 131 kit only flows 10 CFMs more if you want more power change your exhaust to d&d billet cat change your air cleaner to a T-man no loss in tune with a power vision 💪🏾
Awesome, Janet would have freaked out for sure😅
I was the only biker coming in that direction, so I was.unsure what to do. Luckily there were no issues. I think they knew I was friends with Mr & Mrs El Buffalo
@@newazhorizons9945 😆 🤣 😂
Omg! That's scary. You must have looked like a storm until they got a little closer. And veered away. Lol Awesome footage 👏 💕
Can you use a tender on the same location to charge the bikes battery?
Yes
Not even close to the 117 put out today.
I also have the FP3 and just did the stage 1 on my 2018 RGS. Did you have any issues with dialing in the 475 cam with this tuner. Was hearing i may have to go to another tuner like PV3? Thanks for the video and hope you can help me on tuner!!
S&S cam is a very popular cam and V&H has a lot of data to provide the proper map with a large variation of exhaust. So, the FP3 is adequate for a stage 1&2 (cam upgrade). V&H has good customer service team to help as well. You can upload your data from your FP3 and they'll send you an update based on your upgrades and riding style. So, you won't have a problem with a cam upgrade using the FP3. Having said that, you'll never beat a custom tune (power vision) but it's obviously more costly and more appropriate with increased motor work e.g. head-work. Send me a message if continue to have issues.
Thanks man appreciate the info!!
I just came across your channel in my feed actually. I'm happy to support your efforts and those of other fellow moto content creators. I look forward to seeing and hearing more from you in the future ; keep up the great work and ride safe out there.
Hey Freedom Rider, thanks for the kind words. I was looking through your channel and you a nice channel. That's a lot of good work. Thanks again!

Dang that bike sounds good
I've done some work to the engine. That work brings lots of comments about the sound of the engine. Thanks for watching.
thanks 🤠
Thanks for watching. Ride safe.
Dude that is cool Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching. Ride safe.
Brilliant. Thanks for posting.
Handy dandy battery pack . Where & how much to get one ?
Excellent.
Thank you for watching
Great tip! I always keep the battery pack with the bike just in case. Now I know how to use it.
I take a 3 week ride (5000 miles) every summer. Seems every year I'm able to help someone stranded (Bike/Car). Obviously, I don't want to get stranded, but it does come in handy carrying the battery pack. Thank you for watching.
@@newazhorizons9945 yep .So far I have started about 4 cars .None of them mine .
Cool! Thanks! Gave my sportster to my son and he will appreciate this tip! Safe riding yall and see ya on the road!!
Congrats to you and your son. I'm sure you'll have many years of great memories.
Buy a Honda and push the start button
Nice bike what bars are those please let me know Thanks
Thank you! The bars are 12 inch LA Choppers. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the knowledge.
Thanks for watching, ride safe!
a better tip would be to address the issue and get a battery tender, or a new battery when needed.
I think this intended for a situation if you're out somewhere, and the bike doesn't start. Not as a substitute for a worn-out battery.
I did similar but hardwired cable to battery with pigtail so I only have to plug in unit to side of bike at connection. just easier than dealing with the clamps to battery connection.
Yes, they do sell an adaptor for your battery pack jumper that plugs right into the battery tender plug on your bike. Thanks for sharing.
What’s the hight on those handlebars if you don’t mind me asking. And do they interfere with your mirrors while riding
They are 12 inch LA Chopper bars. I left the mirrors in the stock location. I can see fine under the bars.
Why not just roll it, pop the clutch, and jumpstart it??
Sorry, you can't push start a fuel injected Harley. The fuel pump needs power from the battery.
You really need instruction on how to jump start your bike?????
Are these dyno proven, rear wheel numbers? I'm new to the Harley world, but have a lot of experience with other brands. In my experience, the "other guys" use rear wheel numbers, and most would trash talk Harley guys for using "estimated" crank numbers to inflate numbers. I'm genuinely curious, as I'm looking at possible buying my late FIL's '19 Street Glide. My last bike was a Victory with their "hot" factory 106/6. The numbers I'm seeing online show the 107 is making about 80-ish rwhp and 100 ft/lbs, which is lacking when compared to the 106. Just curious how well the M8 is responding to mods.
"Harley guys" have earned their criticism for advertising HP incorrectly. Even with RWHP, if not calculated correctly is suspect. I'm fortunate to have access to a Dynojet 250i and I've been testing regularly to get the best combo of rich mix/HP. So, I've not been after RWHP, but the best tune to keep the bike cool with the best possible RWHP. I would recommend visiting FuelmotoUSA.com, they have hundreds of M8 test cases. Thanks for watching!
What size is your rear tire
Currently I have a 18x5.5 rear. I had the 16x5 previously. I didn't notice the difference.
Can I hook my maintainer up this way
That’s a good idea but I would connect the positive clamp first, there’s to many things to ground out on the way in to the starter.
Doesn't matter on those little battery jumpers, no power until you press the start button to begin the jump process.
You can always connect the leads before you plug into the power pack.
Well you made something so simple look so hard congratulations
Nice upgrade. I really like the stock air cover
do you get less MPG with the upgrades?
I'm getting 3 MPG less than stock. A little better on the highway. Although, I tune my bikes richer to allow the bike to run cooler. That by itself will reduce MPG.
I'm getting ready to do a s&s 475G kit in my 2018 fatboy 114 valentines week can't wait Just hoping after I tear it apart that the crank runout isn't over spec or ill have to run chain instead of gears too bad there isn't a way to check before hand without tearing it apart as I don't want it apart for a while waiting for parts I like to be prepared If I have to run the chain at least I can put the gears up in my man cave to look cool lol
Sounds like a nice project. My experience has been the runout is always in good shape, .001 - .004. In fact, I've never had one that was out of spec. My advice is checking the oil pump to ensure it's the upgraded version. 17s and 18s had the suspect oil pump. Easiest check is to count the lobes on the scavenge (gerotor) gear 8 vs 10. 8 lobes is the upgraded version.
To much talking sheesh 😂
Just ride the bike and the battery won't die...
Your theory is good but your method is way bad. Always connect the positive first, the negative last. If you do what you did and by mistake in the dark or in the heat of the moment you touch your positive on any part of the bike you have a big spark that can damage you electrical system and short out your computer or damage your jumper module.
I agree, in general you should get into the habit of connecting positive first. However, in this application it's impossible to create an arc (spark) or damage your bike. The battery jumper pack that I have and packs that I've ever used cannot be create an arc because they are not energized until a connection is made to a positive and negative source. Secondly, even if it were energized and you mistakenly touched a negative source with the positive jumper cable you would not damage your bike because you are not connected to your bike. Since this video is about jumping a touring motorcycle, there are additional concerns with removing and installing a battery.
Great ride, great views and great camera work.
Agree, nice.
