Hi fellow RUclips viewers!
My name is Nick and I've been cycling for over 20 years. I started mountain biking in the 1990s and then got into road biking. The first road bike I started with had 7 speed down tube shifters and high pressure 23c tires. Pedal power recreation and transportation has interested me so I also have a recumbent and velomobile.
With this channel I'd like to share some of my experiences with you and help you use and choose the bike for you! To reach out to me feel free to leave a comment in the discussion tab or a comment in one of my videos. Thanks for watching and have a most wonderful day!

How did you set you saddle up? Flat 0 degree from tip to tail?
The saddle is not flat to begin with. I set it up so the front of the nose is flat. The rear is slightly upward. If you put the rear flat, then the nose will stick up.
Good job… but those brake sensors are sketchy 😂
Yes the brake sensors aren't ideal and aren't very reliable (depending on user install). On the other hand if you stop pedaling, the motor cuts off quickly and you can unplug the sensors so you won't have to worry about the motor cutting off. I've adjusted the sensors so I have to pull the brake levers almost all the way in before it engages. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the vid. I have a 142mm axle and am using the Lekkie 42 tooth narrow wide Bling Ring. It's made just for this, perhaps an oversight on Bafang's part. It's made of 7000 series aluminum and is offset is approx. 12-13mm (difficult to measure when installed). Barely clears the frame, but it clears and the chain line is near perfect on a 10 speed cassette. I have about 3000 hard miles on mine and no signs of wear. I think it was $70 or $80 which seemed high at the time but it is worth it. My clearance looked about like yours with the stock chain ring, the 2 tooth smaller diameter of the Lekkie make it work. Regarding the battery mount, I would try reversing it (180 degrees). Counter intuitive as that may look when standing still, once your thrashing around on the trails you realize the lock is what holds the battery in place, not gravity. Also, the two water bottle bolts were designed to hold about 3 pounds, so I use straps like yours, but not elastic.
Thanks Barclay! The 1.8mm offset of the 11s cassette makes chain line worse for the largest rear cog. There is a Chinese chainring called Gustavo that has similar offset to the Lekkie, maybe still too much for my bike.
My dura ace is saved
Do you have the new Dura Ace 9100 or 9200? The 9000 series was recalled for inspection.
Can you recommend a kit for a 11x1 with a 30 tooth chainring? I’m assuming that my small chainring was engineered to the 11 cassette
Unfortunately no I can't recommend that setup because I don't think the chainline would work well with a 30t and 11s rear. Stay tuned for my step by step setup video where I talk about chainline.
Thanks for the video. I didn't know that bridge had a bike lane.
You're welcome. Come out and ride it! It might not be open for much longer on the weekdays: there are proposals to close it completely to bikes and pedestrians Mon- Thursdays I think.
I've Tried a few seats and got on ok with Fizik I just got this I'm hoping it will work I always get pain where the cut out is so I hope with this cut out it helps Thanks for the review.
You're welcome, I still have this seat but am trying a Specialized Power seat now. Another video I need to get out too. 😀 In short, the Specialized is a different feel but still not too soft. Good luck with your seat and hope it works for you.
@@pedalpowercycling Just done 50km it was ok but time will tell. So hard to find the right seat. I mostly use Zwift.
@@lukevirtualgameruk3523 Was the 50km on the road or on Zwift? I find I can use harder seats indoors since the bumps on the road exponentiate the impact to your sit bones when riding (if you don't use a suspension seat post or full suspension bike).
@@pedalpowercycling Was on Zwift mate.
When is the step by step installation coming? :)
Thank you for the reminder! I'm glad you enjoy my step by step instruction guides. I've built my 29er mountain bike with this kit (months ago) and can put out the video soon. I was going to combine a little review into it as well since I've put several hundred miles on this for commuting.
I've been contemplating buying some HTZ rims for touring and bikepacking but the offset presta hole might effect going with tubes.
So far the rim has been holding up really well. The offset helps with more even spoke tension and I like it.
Hopefully replacement parts are available.
Pedal power did you buy from Alibaba, and if so which shop?
I 3d printed some that screwed into the presta valve Thank you for your video it let me to the right thing I needed to print
Have you tried contacting their support? did they respond?
Is it true these motors does not work with a rear hub brake?
Are you talking about a coaster brake? If so, no you can't pedal backwards to brake while riding. There's a freewheel like mechanism in the crankset so when you use the throttle, the crankset doesn't spin forward and ratchets internally. Technically, yes the motor does work but your coaster brake won't.
@@pedalpowercycling You are a buddy, my man! So that'''s a NO! then... no hub brake with these motors, true`
For clarification, there are 2 types of hub brakes, drum brakes should work with the motor. Example of what works: www.sheldonbrown.com/drum-brakes.html These are brake lever activated not chain activated.
Well done! It worked in theory and you proved it in practice, now you can head for the hills with confidence!
Thank you, I've since switched to a 11-36 cassette and it fits!
What is that blue sticker with four circular lens type 1:54
They're round stickers that can be mounted on the adapter mount to provide a little more friction and tighter fit so you don't have to tighten the locking screw as much. I don't use it.
Excellent work! Great wire placement! Do you have a video showing the ride ability?
Thank you for the encouragement. I recently built up a mountain bike with a Bafang BBS02 and am testing that out. I should get back to the trike and make a video explaining how everything works out with this conversion. So far, I'm very pleased with the BBSHD on the Catrike 700. Climbing hills (10% or greater) isn't a chore anymore. 😀
@@pedalpowercycling anytime! I’m coming over to trike conversions from drone building. You did a great tutorial on this build! It helps me to lower my nerves and get started on one myself. I love my cat 700 and I think it would be a lot better to ride if I could have the speed to get out of the way when necessary, and the uphill assistance living in Oregon would be dreamy.
The window in the box appears to have been placed via employee with hangover.
I can’t get my sram apex with 42t cassette to work properly with an extender. It is ok with 32t in front, but shifting at 50t is horrible. I can’t understand what can I do. Maybe shorten my chain a little?
It's such a beautiful thing watching the chain shift like that.
Nick thanks alot bro I was wondering why was it not shifting sigh guess I have to download the app so that it can work thanks again can you send me the link for the app so I can download it ??

I've ordered a pair now! Thanks to your video
Are you still using the Bontrager Commuter saddle? I'm interested in purchasing it.
Yes, excellent comfort. I got it on sale at REI for less than $30.
@@pedalpowercycling thanks!!!
Thanks for creating this video, very helpful.
Thank you for this. I managed to incorrectly use a pump and deflated my whole tire until I found this video.
I check all my quick release levers on my tires and seat. They might get bumped loose especially if you have to transport your bike.
He forgot about the bike lock if you don't want to walk back unexpectedly.
1. I have a proper road bike. Damn I can't find any battery on it. Where did they vanish? 2. 4.5 bar is jokingly low. I ride my 23mm tires at 7.5 bar. I don't love the sound of curbs smashing my rim. 3. I don't clean the drivetrain. The rain does that for me. Contrary to youtube wisdom superficial dirt doesn't matter. 4. I live in a civilised part of the world. Shops are everywhere. I con't care what I eat. 5. This is actually indeed a good advice. BTW. Mini electric pumps turn out to be working great. 6. Red mini backlight is good. 7. Why is everyone pushing those silly styrofoam placebos as protection?
For the quick link, i use this on same chain on my mtb 11 speed. I take off the chain every time i get home from a ride, so far i have removed the quick like probably more then 120 times never had it do anthing weird when riding. I mtb some pretty rough turrain and climb alot of big hills. I do carry a spair quick link in my back pack. You do not have to replace the quick link after one use trust me it a selling gimmick.
Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Duh, Pick your bike everytime?

If you wax your chains then no cleaning needed!

Thanks! You wouldn't believe how many times I've forgotten tire levers or my multi tool because it was used and left behind. 😃
Well done. I enjoyed your video a lot. I liked the choose your bike portion as well because I have that issue frequently being that I own several bike with different tires and wheel sizes and set ups for road gravel or mountain biking.
bro is so authentic and sincere, great video
Fun video. But dude, you need a track bike, and a TT bike :)
🤪 The closest track is a few hours away and my body can't handle the aggressive tt bike so they wouldn't get ridden. Me in my velomobile is faster than me on a TT bike on the flats. 😁

None of the instructions online mention pairing the shifters wirelessly. Seems obvious afterwards but not if you are just following the directions. Thanks.
Hey man, I took the black clip off my pump and now won’t go back in. Any ideas?
Can you replace it with another clip? If not you might need a new pump head.
@@pedalpowercycling thanks for the reply man! I guess I could try that. It almost looks like the round end of the black clip that goes in is too big too fit. Don’t think I can send a picture here on RUclips.
Lebih baik m7000 atau m5100 ,Bro?
You had the trail to yourself, so cool! I gotta try it one day. I know you mention your neck is neutral so you don't experience any pain but for some reason, it reminds me of a performing a hollow crunch and my neck def. gets annoyed there. Was there an adjustment period with your neck?
Hi Carolin! No adjustment period for my neck needed. At the right seat angle it's like sitting on a comfy sofa. When you're doing crunches your back is probably closer to 0 degrees at times. What does take time is getting used to the balance and developing recumbent muscles. 😎
Grin makes a rear hub that fits your trike.
What do the :bv, bk & bj initials on the cogs mean??
Great Question!! I believe they're group marks, as Shimano states, "• Always be sure to use the sprocket set bearing the same group marks of gears; never use in combination with a sprocket bearing a different group mark of gears." si.shimano.com/en/pdfs/dm/MBCS001/DM-MBCS001-04-ENG.pdf
holly molly, man u help me so much, thank you
Instead of 2 small pieces of tape on either side, you could take one longer piece of tape & put a hole in it for the presta valve. Helpful info on how to adapt a presta tube to use in a rim with schrader hole. Thanks. I can't get this adapter anywhere. I'm sure other hacks might work, such as cutting a hole of rubber out of a used tire or other source, to make a sort of 'disk' at the base of the presta... maybe stack a few of them... or wrap the base of the presta with duct tape.... or search the hardware stores for odds/ ends to devise a solution.
