My dad read this to me as a boy. I read it to my sons. The message in this poem is what young men need in this world.

How do you believe Jordan would "counsel" this person, concerning unlocking "potential?" I'm an Atheist, yet I found this book very interesting, as it helped me to understand the suffering of those who are transgender and are often perceived as "sinners" by those in religions, who look “down” on them. In the quest to feel normal, this person as an adult changed genitals from male to female. At 6ft. 3inches ... that must have been quite an experience. From the book … God Doesn’t Make Mistakes: Confessions of a Transgender Christian … author … Laurie Suzanne Scott … I was compelled to write this book, because I could no longer just idly sit by and listen to Christians in total ignorance talk about how people who are transgender are out to destroy families, attack women and girls in bathrooms, pump children full of hormones and ruin society in general. Nor could I allow Christians who are transgender complain about “evangelical church” (referring to predominantly conservative Christians) and how hateful and un-Christ-like it was. I am a conservative evangelical Christian who is transgender, so I am likewise hurt when I see a similar ignorance displayed toward churches and people with whom I identify.

I tried this and it's working. I'm 24 lived at home and just over 3 months ago I quit my job in the UK, sold my car and moved to Sydney with not much money to see if I could stand on my own two feet because that was the biggest challenge I could think of. It's been really tough but an amazing 3 months so far. I've over came many obstacles and feel so much stronger for it.

Examples for good challenges? I would love to travel but dont have much time or money

Agreed. This is my thinking but Jordan Peterson really fleshed out this idea.

Jordan Peterson has been a tremendous blessing to this world, and his contributions to society will last ages upon ages. This kind of knowledge will always retain large amounts of value as long as we are living this human struggle of life. Nonetheless, God bless and protect this man.🙏🏽

My only criticism for Peterson would be that althought he explains the process of unlocking your full potential he doesn’t lay out the steps on how to find what you should aim at, how to pick a goal thats right for you. I get that he is not like a motivational coach but most of his followers are trying find their right vision and stick to something meaningful.

I knocked about with his older brother Simon and ended up boxing in the pros. When I got home that night I looked through it and found through the inscription that it belonged to Alan Titchmarsh at the BBC. There's nothing new here. The two (old) ideas are: 1. Break down scary tasks you're avoiding, and start with a small part. Duh. 2. People (he assumes, at 3:16) rise to their challenges. #2 depends on the individual, and we only hear about those for whom it was true. So if you want to bring out the best in yourself, you should take up "the highest goal that you can manage"? But he admits he's making an assumption at 3:16 that your abilities scale with the challenge, that "more and more of you gets unlocked" as you "take on more and more loads". Reality just isn't like that.

Another important note about the, "rescue you father from the belly of the beast..." story is that a father is the ultimate problem solver for a son. A son may put responsibility on his own shoulders but when a task is too grand for him he turns to his father. As the father is the one in danger, nobody will come to the sons aid and all the responsibility is on him thus he receives ultimate stress.
