Great video! I was (and still am) on turn 21 in my first go at the tutorial before stopping. I'm really liking the game and just out of interest searched how long the tutorial is when your video popped up on google (3rd down among 4). Your passion for the game and "hearing yourself talk" 😂 is making the whole kickoff experience of GCIV that much more enjoyable. Cheers to learning the game along with the past you!

No way! I never thought it would be possible to be at peace with every race in this game.

47:30 Expansion Planer has absolutly nothing to do with sectors or grouping together planets, it just shows Nerby habitable planets or terraforming canditates you could potentially colonise (depending on what boxes you check for the filter at the top), it helps you sort trough planets you havn't colonised yet but could and gives you a conviniwnt colonise button for planets you can colonise.

Some command ships improve repair rate. Other than that, I don't think it can be changed. It used to be changeable in Gal Civ III, but they removed that option in IV.

I have wanted to play Stellaris for years. Each time I've been put off by the learning curve. Now I have found your tutorial series. And bought the base game for 3.99 in the winter sale. Your videos are helping me to really get a feel for the game for the first time. Thank you very much!

I don't know how it works thematically, but Watcher ability can offset their lack of research.

Excellent video. I bought this game years ago and never got into it as it was a bit overwhelming (even though I've played a ton of other 4x games since the original Civ came out). This explains it all really well so far and I'm going to be watching the rest of the series. Thanks for making them!

I don;t thing Raders + Wealthy is a cheat, especially since there's a canon Gal Civ IV has this combination (Corporate Sector. They are Humanoid throught, not Amphibian).

36:15 this is where it gets rally dangerous. the sakkra have a massive population, and almost own the entire council BY THEMSELVES. you are in SECOND place. if the gnolam ever vote for the sakkra, you most likely lose immediately, and in any case, will be in the final war.

28:30 you built your first ship with NO computer. without beam weapons, it would have been a waste of money. computers use no space, but cost money.

As you got the tech to build Purger1.2, you should've taken a turn to refit the 1.1s, send those off, then start new builds. Change the silhouette when you upgrade. So you don't realize too late your armada consists of mostly obsolete ships.

Even if you capture a star base, it goes away after the battle.

Why not pick Unification for more farming output? Wait. I once tried this idea aswell. I think i did not take Traders but instead i picked aquatic and unification. This makes your homeworld count as a Gaia planet, further increasing food output. I even experimented with cybenernetic aquarian farmers because less food consumption means more surplus! :p

Pd weapons only auto fire on incoming fighters/missiles. They don't auto fire on missiles heading toward another ship. You should have used the pd weapons on the ships that were not targeted.

The leaders are only safe if one of your ships survive the battle. If the ship is alone you risk losing the leader.

Trade and research treaties are forever. They only end if you or they break off the treaty or go to war.

Building a colony ship doesn't take pop from a planet. More like just a free pop once used to colonize. Unless maybe you're playing a different version.

It's not that we hadn't invented computers yet. We hadn't invented TARGETING computers.

That 4th worker at the beginning gave you +1 production with 1 extra production spent on cleanup. So it only added 2 production and only one is used for building housing. It would be more worth it to leave it on research imho.

You can rename the race when you are selecting the picks.

Would have loved this a few days ago when I started the game x) But its reinforced and helped to understand a lot, the starting traits made a big difference.
